"I'll need one Metal Coat," Hunter corrected, "and I'll need to trade Onix and Scyther both off to get them to evolve." He grinned. "That's what I have my sister for. I can trade them to her and then get them right back." It was a sound plan, and he already knew that Naomi would agree. She didn't have any Pokemon that she needed to trade, since she didn't have a Kadabra or anything, but she would temporarily trade one of hers to help her brother. "I did some research, so I think I know where to find a Metal Coat. Jasmine, the Gym Leader in Olivine, has a Steelix. I want to see if she'll lend me the Metal Coat so I can evolve Onix and Scyther."

Naomi grinned a bit. It was a bit of a stretch, but hey, at least Hunter had a plan. That was all she could ask for.

"I hear you can get a Sun Stone if you win the Bug-Catching Contest in Goldenrod," she offered. "And you can catch Sunkern in the National Park, they're Grass-types that use the Sun Stone to evolve."

"I suppose that could work..." She wasn't sure if he needed two after all if only one could work for every evolution it could use it for without a limit however. She always thought one was needed for each Pokemon that evolved. She knew that TMs now were able to be used more than once, but with evolution items... Didn't seem logical to her. She said nothing of her suspicions, though, as she focused on what was said after that. "That's an idea. Though I'm not very lucky with winning at anything... The Sun Stone would be helpful for my Bellossom plan however. Also getting a Sunkern could be a good idea, too. Thanks for the idea."
Sayuri's Chikorita, after over twelve hours of sleeping, finally woke up and wondered where she was as she looked around, slightly worried and confused.
"Chiko?" They were in a moving something, but she wasn't sure what it was since she'd never been on one before. It was air travel that got them to Kanto.

"I'm going to try the Contest," Naomi said. "I've heard there are wild Butterfree in the National Park, I kind of want one. I have no use for a Sun Stone, though, so if I get one, you can have it."

"Yeah, if a miracle happens or something," Hunter teased. Naomi rolled her eyes.

Naomi's Eevee let herself out of her Pokeball at this point. Clearly, the Pokemon had gotten bored and wanted attention. Naomi didn't bother reprimanding her Eevee for coming out without being called. The train ride was long, and Eevee wasn't used to being confined for that long. Eevee wasn't surprised at being on the train, though. She'd had to endure it before.

"Eee?" Eevee asked curiously when she saw the Chikorita. She'd never seen one of those before. Hopping down from Naomi's lap, she went over to investigate. The green Pokemon smelled a little like new leaves, and was clearly a Grass-type, so Eevee wasn't worried. She was really only wary around Fighting-, Rock-, and Steel-types.

"I might try it as well. Even if I don't win, it could still be fun to catch a new Pokemon. Even though I'm not a big fan of bugs..." They kind of scared her especially one kind, but she wouldn't say just yet.
She noticed the Eevee come out of its Pokeball all on its own and was kind of surprised. None of hers did that or were unable to.
"Chiko?" Chikorita looked down at the small, brown furry thing that spoke and had wandered over as she looked down at it, curious as to what it was. A Pokemon never seen before, even with all the trainer battles. "Chiko?" Sayuri didn't have to hold the leaf on her head still this time as Chikorita didn't seem to be in attack mode. At least not yet... It was something that was feared by people coming close with unusual Pokemon, but this time she seemed quite calm... It was puzzling. And yet unpredictable as Sayuri wouldn't allow her to go onto the train's floor just yet.

Naomi leaned down and picked up her Eevee, scratching behind the Pokemon's ears. Eevee started purring and settled down on Naomi's lap. While she didn't mind a battle every so often, she didn't mind cuddling, either.

"Obviously, this is my Eevee," Naomi said. She hugged the Pokemon affectionately. "She's kind of a cuddle-fluff."

"Don't be fooled by her cuteness," Hunter broke in. "That thing has a mean Shadow Ball attack."

"Yes she does," Naomi agreed, grinning. "Shadow Ball and Bite, so she's not completely specialized when she evolves." Eevee nodded, seeming proud of herself.

"She's very cute! Now I know I want one someday! I heard its grass evolution is cute, too. Never saw one, though... If I could, I'd look it up right now, but this Pokedex of mine hasn't been upgraded in a long time. Practically a year... I think it only gets upgraded after visiting each region..." Or so her cousin said... She believed it, but was it really true?
Chikorita really wanted down and was now struggling, threatening to use her Razor Leaf attack, but knowing it was coming, Sayuri held onto the leaf on her head to prevent it.
"Sorry... She's a bit excited now... I know she wants down and all, but I'm afraid she'll harm something or someone if I release her. Either that or run around the train..." It's been known to happen. Sayuri was afraid Chikorita would pounce on Eevee like she did with a Vulpix. Not knowing the Vulpix very well, it attacked her Chikorita. Sayuri didn't want that to happen again...

Meanwhile Ruben finally got on another train to Goldenrod City, his Wartortle following behind him. They both sat down and Ruben continued reading the new guide book, not paying much attention to his Wartortle at all like he always did. The Wartortle didn't seem to mind as he was used to his trainer's actions and such.

"How is she around other Grass-types?" Naomi asked, curiously. "Maybe she'll get along alright with my Exeggute?" She knew from school that a lot of times, a Pokemon was most comfortable around its own elemental type, and that other types could sometimes make them uneasy. She glanced at Hunter as he pulled his own Pokedex out of his bag and opened it, sifting through his entries.

"Here," he said, handing it to Sayuri. "I saw a Leafeon once, while we were in Celadon City. I only have the really basic information on Leafeon, but it's better than nothing, right?"

"When did you see a Leafeon?" Naomi asked him curiously. She certainly didn't remember it... But she did see a Glaceon, which was neat.

"While you were busy in the Gym," Hunter replied absently.

"She's fine around my other grass types... Maybe she's just curious or something... Though by the way she looks right now, ready to attack... I'm not sure..." She looked down at Chikorita and tried to guess what it was thinking. Did it want to battle? Just greet this new Pokemon? Play? She wasn't sure. Chikorita was never on a train so maybe she was scared...
Sayuri couldn't think about that anymore once the Pokedex was handed to her and her eyes went all cutsy over what she saw, as she released her grip on Chikorita. "Cute!"

Chikorita hopped down from her place on Sayuri's lap and walked over to the purring Pokemon. "Chiko?" She wanted to play or at least socialize with this one rather than attack. "Chiko?"
Sayuri was too busy to notice...

"Eevee!" The furry Pokemon perked up when the Chikorita came over. She wriggled out of Naomi's grasp and jumped down. "Eee, Eevee." Making new friends was always fun, and the Chikorita seemed nice enough, if a little shy. Eevee sniffed the Grass-type for a moment before sitting down. She wouldn't mind chatting for a bit.

Naomi noticed, and kept an eye on them. If nothing else, she'd be able to pick up her Eevee before the two could start fighting or anything. Hunter, on the other hand, was watching Sayuri as she went through his Pokedex.

"Our Pokedexes are actually different," he said. "Mine and Naomi's. We have a lot of entries that are different from each other. It's weird, you'd think we'd have all the same ones, but we don't."

"It's true," Naomi added. "I think I have an entry for a Glaceon instead of a Leafeon, and I have entries for a lot of Psychic-types. I think Hunter has a lot of Steel-type entries."

"Chiko?" Chikorita hopped around, excited to have a new friend who wasn't a grass type. She was getting a bit tired of hanging out with only one type each day. "Chiko chiko. Rita!" She was talking of her adventures with Sayuri and how happy to see a new face around.
"I always thought twins would have the same entries, but maybe I'm thinking twin girls... After all guys and girls can differ in some cases." She pulled out her own Pokedex after handing Hunter's back to him. "Mine is full of a lot of different Pokemon, not just grass types. Some I considered catching, but sort of vowed not to... Even if some of them are cute..." She wondered about that one... The Vulpix Chikorita had attacked seemed pretty strong...

"Eevee, Eee, vee!" Eevee was glad to have a new face around, as well. She talked about her trainer, and how her trainer liked Psychic-types, and how she had a Grass-type, too, and wasn't it fun traveling around? She also mentioned how her trainer's brother liked Steel-types, and how his Magnemite always made her fur stand up, and once she evolved it would be easier to battle them. Eevee was chatty when she got the chance.

"People always think we're practically the same person," Hunter said. "Because we're twins. They always think we like the same things and dislike the same things and do everything together, but we don't." He grinned. "You should see it when we team up for double-battles, nobody knows how to handle a Magnemite and a Natu team or anything like that."

"It's even better when I battle on my own," Naomi broke in. "I use TMs to teach my Pokemon off-type moves."

"Chiko ko. Rita." Chikorita was talking about her adventures in a strange place, having been born in Johto before being caught by the professor who worked there. She was also saying how shy Sayuri could be and how scared of bugs she was, especially of Spinarak and Ariados. Any spider-related Pokemon really. She also laughed when she heard about the fur sticking up part, but agreed when the time for evolution came she'd be stronger. Chikorita however didn't really want to evolve... But she never said.
"I don't think you're the same... I've only met you recently, but know you're both very different. Not only in the way you're Pokemon are, but I've noticed you have slightly different personalities, too." She wasn't sure how, but Sayuri always had a knack for telling people apart from another, whether they were twins or not. Everyone was different in their own way. Even by just a little...

"Vee vee Eevee." Eevee didn't see anything wrong with not liking Spinarak and Ariados. Her own trainer hated Shroomish and the Weedle family with a passion. Her trainer's brother, not so much, since Steel-types were immune to Poison-types, but Naomi hated them, and the trainer was afraid of most Ghost-types. The only ones she liked were Misdreavus. She talked about how she'd been born in another city and had had four other littermates, and been given to Naomi about two years back, and how she trusted Naomi.

The twins glanced at each other. Someone could tell they were different right off the bat? That was interesting.

"You can really tell we're different?" they asked at the same time. They paused.

"Sorry," Naomi added.

"We do that a lot," Hunter said.

Chiko. Chi." Chikorita said it was a phobia. Some people are apparently born with them or they happen at a young age, she continued. Having grown up in Johto there were many around her home area, so she said earlier. The shape of them were creepy to her...
"Well... It's hard to explain... You both have different Pokedex entries and raise different Pokemon... That's not really much of a difference as that can easily be changed with time to look alike, but I know deep down you're very different..." She just couldn't explain how. She noticed they spoke a bit differently and the way they were dressed was similar but not quite the same... But as for personality, it was hard to tell... Unable to explain such things embarrassed her, making her wish she hadn't said that... "Uh... Anyway. It's okay. It sounded quite cute actually."

"Vee Eevee," Eevee nodded. She could understand phobias. Naomi didn't like Ghost-types at all, so she often had one of her Pokemon out with her when she had to go through areas with Ghost-types around. Most times, it was Natu that went with her, since the little bird knew Miracle Eye and Nightshade, which helped keep away the Ghost-types.

"Sorry," Hunter said. "We're just so used to people thinking we can't function without one another--"

"And it's true that the world isn't quite right when we're apart," Naomi broke in.

"--but we're perfectly capable of being ourselves," Hunter finished. "We're each our own person."

"Chi. Chiko." Chikorita understood having a Pokemon around for protection as she would gladly fend off any of those spiders that would come across them when they arrived in her hometown in Johto or wherever else they may be in the wild. Chikorita also though that ghosts were cool and kind of wished Sayuri would get one herself, despite her grass obsession...
"I think I can understand that. It must be annoying when they think that way before even getting to know you first and figuring out how different you both can really be. Some people, I've noticed, may have similar personalities, but really they can't be completely the same without some kind of distinction. No matter how small." She'd met twins before whom she'd battled with and after a while she'd noticed a difference in them. Both were identical girls.

"We've battled other sets of twins before," Hunter said. He grinned. "It was interesting."

"Hunter and I have that twin-bond thing," Naomi clarified. "We can usually tell what the other is thinking." She grinned as well. "Like for instance, Hunter is thinking about..." She trailed off for a moment. "...Pecha berries."

"It's not my fault they're so tasty..." Hunter grumbled. He couldn't deny it. She was right.

"Pecha berries? Aren't those only tasty to Pokemon?" She found that a bit odd and funny. "Though... Cheri berries are also good..." She thought it an actual cherry at first, but was surprised after popping one in her mouth right on her tongue.
"I'm sure you do quite well in battles. Reminds me of the twin gym leaders in Hoenn I've heard about. Seems they're the same way. Both different genders, too." That would be interesting to watch someday. A battle between two sets of twins...

"Oh! I've heard of them!" Naomi replied. "They run a Psychic gym, just like Leader Sabrina!" She grinned, pleased. She wanted to get out to Hoenn one day and run the Gym circuit. Eventually, she wanted to have all five sets of Badges. She just needed to finish her Kanto set first, but that would have to wait until the next time she was in Kanto again.

"There are two Steel-type Gyms out there, just like there are two Psychic-type Gyms out there," Hunter added. "I kind of want to be taken on as a Junior Trainer for a while in one of them. It would be an awesome learning experience." Even though he was only twelve, Hunter knew that he wanted to be a Steel-type master, and learning from the Gym Leaders seemed to be a great first step. He paused for a second. "And Pecha berries are delicious," he added. "They're all sweet and juicy."

Sayuri was amazed then. Hunter had a dream that he was fulfilling as he'd hinted about it just now while she wasn't sure of his sister's dream, but figured it was probably just as awesome. Sayuri, however was still working on what she wanted to be. Either a Grass-type master or a top co-coordinator... Though that part would have to wait till she got to Hoenn. But still... She still had no clue what she wanted to do as a career. "I'm sure you both have good dreams to fulfill. Kind of wish I could figure out what mine is... I have two choices so far but it's hard to know which one to choose..." She thought about asking Erika at the gym to help her train for her first goal, but being so shy and forgetful, it never happened. And she didn't seem confident enough to do both.
"I only had a Cheri berry by accident... They were quite good, though. Almost made me crave more of them. But couldn't find any more within the area... I even tried planting my own... But I never had any luck growing things." She was a grass trainer and yet growing things was difficult... Slightly embarrassing.

"I want to be a Steel-type master," Hunter said. "The best ever."

"I want to be a Psychic Master," Naomi added. "Even better than Will." Will was one of the Elite Four, the greatest Psychic-type trainer there was. Rumor was that he'd even trained Sabrina for a while.

"We need all the badges we can get," the two said at the same time, without meaning to.

"I'm still deciding which to be... Either a Grass-type Master or Top Coordinator... Although a potion maker to help Pokemon could be good, too..." She'd forgotten about that idea. "I'm learning about which herbs work well on Pokemon with status problems while in the middle of nowhere. It happened to me one time where my Bellsprout had accidentally poisoned himself during a practice battle against my female Oddish. Wasn't sure what to do so after that I figured it was a good time to learn to make on-the-go remedies for when I don't have the store bought ones handy." She thought it was a good start anyway... So she had three to choose from. That made it even more complicated to choose... "Your dreams however sound like they're all set to go. Works in progress..." All three were around the same age and already two of them had plans. She felt behind. Slightly...

"That's awesome," Hunter said. "Hey, isn't there some guy in Cianwood City who runs a shop where they sell herbal medicines?" He looked over at Naomi, who shrugged. She didn't have a Johto guide yet. "No, I swear, didn't Mom and Dad say that the guy had a blue Shuckle that made Berry Juice for him, and he made all these herb powders and things?" He looked over at Sayuri. "Maybe you should see if that guy is there, maybe he'll teach you." It seemed like a sound plan to him, but he was also a little single-minded. In his mind, apprenticeship was the way to go. Where better to learn things than from the best?

"Yeah. I know of him. Haven't met him personally as I have no way of getting there yet. So when I acquire a water/grass type who can learn Surf and obtain the proper badge, I'll be sure to visit him. It's a good idea. Thanks." She pulled out her new Johto Guide book from her bag and handed it to Naomi to look at, somehow figuring out they probably didn't have one yet. She had it delivered by Professor Birch using the same flying Pokemon who dropped her off in Kanto. "There's an article in here all about him. I forget which page, but it should say in the table of contents. You can get these at the Lab in New Bark Town or any PokeMart." She thought about the blue Shuckle then and figured it was probably a rare Pokemon, being that colour as most other Shuckle were red.

Naomi almost volunteered her Staryu, but didn't. Until it evolved into Starmie, it wasn't big enough to tow anyone but her across the water, even though it knew Surf and she had a proper badge for it. Naomi accepted the book and flipped through it.

"Here, look," she said, looking at the section about Cianwood City. "There are ferries that run from Olivine to Cianwood daily."

"Makes sense," Hunter said. "Not everyone will have a Water-type or a Flying-type on their team to get them to the island, so there has to be a ferry. Cianwood is a Gym town, after all, so trainers have to be able to get there." He looked at his sister. "Does it say what kind of Gym it is?"

Naomi grinned.

"Fighting-type," she replied.
