I don't know what causes it, or anything really, but I randomly get these... anxiety attacks and I feel like I'm gonna die. Like, my heart is gonna explode out of my chest in a bloody mass of... blood. Eh. It doesn't happen too often, like once every two weeks, but it's really annoying. It lasts like, half an hour or so, and I can't seem to calm down or think straight. (My hands also shake and I sweat more during these)
I've tried meditating and various other things but they don't seem to help. I don't want to go to the doctor for it, because I'm afraid they'll give me a prescription or something stupid.
So, basically, what do I do?

I have the same problem, it's been happening a lot more recently than ever.
For me, it's usually because I over think about past situations and it triggers the anxiety attacks.
So, I think you should really sit down and think about what triggers yours..there has to be something.
But even if there isn't, this is what I do..and it usually helps me.
List~
1. Breathe in and out slowly. Don't hyperventilate.
2. Walk outside and sit down for a while.
3. Listen to music when you start feeling uneasy or have a casual talk with someone.
4. Start counting from 1 - 10 slowly or go from 1 - 20. It's mostly to take your mind off of what's stressing you out.
Pills aren't bad in my opinion, it depends on the doses. I've never taken any but I know people who have.

That sounds a lot like something that my friend has, the shaky/sweaty hands - and the heart exploding into a bloody mass description. She did go to the doctor and they gave her a medication, but in her case it did not work. Okay well, the medication half worked. It lessened how frequent it happened but did not stop it all together.
When you are getting these attacks, is there anything in common between them? Maybe someone said something or someone brought something up? A smell? Even the smallest things can trigger your memory in a very negative way, bringing back a bad memory ...etc and causing an attack as such.
I dont know what else to tell you buddy, have you tried talking to either of your parents about it? Sometimes its 'in the family' as in some aunt for example will have bad anxiety and etc. In which case if anyone in your family has that problem, you could take it from their and ask them how they deal with it daily.

Yeah, those are panic attacks. If you are hyperventilating (breathing too quickly) you can try breathing into a paper bag. That increases the carbon dioxide in your blood which then helps your body to slow down your breathing.
Okay also, I don't want to give you medical advice BUT, perscriptions don't have to be all bad. I know for a fact that there are some medications you can take only as needed. That way instead of being on a medication all the time you can take it when you feel a panic attack coming on. There are medications that you can put under your tongue which gets the medicine into the bloodstream faster and they can be really effective. If you're opposed to medications in general... well, some people do need them, but I won't be offended if you just ignore all this... but if you just don't want to take something on a regular basis then you might want to ask the doctor about the things I mentioned.

sounds like a panic attack to me, I has them as well sometimes, though I haven't had one recently since I've been getting treatment with counciling.
Also away from my mother, who is why I tend to get them ._.
but yes, If these are happening frequently, you need to go pay a psychologist a visit. Now, don't jump the gun on medications, some things are psychology related, and seeing a psychiatrist can help, like with my case, though that is not the case with all cases.
You do need to see someone about it though, because each panic attack causes you to become more likely to have more panic attacks. Something to do with brain memory paths or something, I don't quite remember ._.
and, if you are going to college, you can probably get free treatment there, at least psychiatric treatment.

I've been having anxiety attacks lately too :/ It started because of a medication I was taking --which I've been off of for a while, but the anxiety attacks still happen. Maybe what's going on is a result of medication you're taking?
Hmm what I try to do when it happens is remove myself from whatever situation I'm in, maybe go outside and get fresh air. Focusing on my breathing helps a lot. I think it helps calm me down because I'm focusing on only one thing.
I haven't been to see a doctor about it because I don't want medication either. That's what got me into this mess -_- BUT you should follow Wingless' advice: you should talk to someone about it. I know that my anxiety attacks aren't just from the medication anymore and am trying to get into therapy. I think therapy would help, especially since panic attacks do interfere with our lives. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Hope something I said helps you.

It's handy to carry motion sickness medicine in case you get the gonna pass out/gonna puke thing. For me the nausea is the worst part of a panic attack.

I had severe anxiety growing up, I'm lucky that they've decreased in frequency and intensity though. I encourage you to avoid seeing a doctor and taking medication as well. However, there are tons of natural alternatives on the market. Look into supplements like St. John's Wart, Tryptophan or Kava. I've tried these before, they have helped ease my anxiety. Also, aromatherapy is awesome. Try peppermint or lavender -- or whatever resonates with you! Soothing scents can help calm you down considerably.
It's not something that you should just treat as it occurs, though. You need to start making lifestyle modifications to ease the random onset of the panic attacks. Find a gentle supplement formula that doesn't make you feel too sedated, and take it regularly. Get lots of fresh air and sun, and get regular, gentle exercise (even just walking). If you are in the midst of an attack, go out into the fresh air immediately. It will help.

I get those a lot. I've been in the hospital before because it got so bad. Sometimes it just seems that nothing at all triggers it and I can feel my heart racing, can't breathe, and just feel like I am dying. It's horrible.
Diet can make a difference. Cut down on sugars/carbs, try to make sure your diet is balanced and cut down on artificial colours and flavors. Caffeine also can trigger panic attacks even if you have just a little. It varies by person but that's what I found helps me.
I really do not like to take pills but a low dose of xanax helped a lot. I take it before bed since it puts me to sleep.
Also, lowering stress can help.
I second the lavender. It's awesome for pretty much anything. I drink a lot of lavender tea and use a lot of lavender oil.
