Hey Everyone here at Menewsha,

Tell me what you think about having the option of being able to put
music on your profile pages. Like some other online social sites.

I think it would be a good idea because it lets others know a little more about
who you are and what your into by the music you play.

I don't like the idea because of copyright issues. At least with things that would be hosted on Mene. Not only that but it's annoying to click on someone's profile and have an annoying loud song play. It wouldn't be a bad idea if it did not start playing when you clicked on the page.

You could always list bands/artists that you like on your profile. That gives people a good overview of what you like.

I agree that it would be annoying if they started playing automatically simply because there's just a lot of shit that I can't stand.

I'd be fine with it otherwise though.

That would be... rather annoying. I'm normally listening to music while surfing here. To have it interrupted by something else at the same time would only bust my ears. And on top of that, there's the amount of space on their side for the music player and holding files (depending on how they do it). And along with loading the page, like it or not we would have to load the music along with it.

And don't get me started with copyright issues... I'm the only person I know who tries to use free to use music (or legal ways of putting up widgets, such as Jamendo players) all the time when putting it up in major sites like this.

I'm on a lot of vBulletin and phpBB 3(?) forums that have this feature on their profiles. Personally, I love the feature. Not sure how it would be if someone abused it though.

I see that you've already made a thread about this in Site Feedback. There's some good conversation going on here, but I'm going to have to ask folks to scoot over to that thread and discuss this further if they'd like. We don't allow duplicate threads here because of the way the gold system works, you see. :)
