Vivi just shakes his head a bit. "Did I say I made a decision yet?" He hasn't said no....or yes yet, though the harpies kind of freak him out. He lifts an eyebrow at the studying under Flamel part. How old is this Eric person anyway? "Define wasn't long ago since supposedly he died in 1418..." He ready Harry Potter, so he had to look it up and it just happened to be something he could randomly remember. "Cause that's a long time ago by my standards." Hell, 1900 is a long time ago.

(Okay....:3 I'll probably be online all day -has no life-)

(lol I have lots of things to do I just was working for some more money, but, I'm done for the moment, well more like all day cuz I aint going back outside its like 99-100 degrees outside)

"Well it doesn't seem to me that it would be that long time ago and he died many different times when pretending to be human. Did you know Nicholas Flamel was not only a wizard but one whom used Alchemy and protected the codex that allowed himself and Perrywinkle to live as long as they did what the book said for about once a month? So many people were after them, I'm surprised that it was the last day you heard of him. Though he probably goes by other names now" Eric explained and even thought out loud to himself a bit. (There is the Nicholas Flamel series that I read and got that info from :O)

It still seems a long enough time ago for Vivi here. "What is alchemy like? I've seen shows that have alchemy in it, but is it like the real thing?" Like Fullmetal Alchemist and other shows like it. "And I don't think I'd want to live much longer than a normal human." That isn't destiny; that's defying it. Besides, history just repeats itself over and over which would get depressing over the years. "And.....a codex?" He may not be interested in living forever or a very long time, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have some interest in the book and all.

(I went on wikipedia lol It feels like 30 degrees hotter than it is. Yay! Heat index!)

"Alchemy is similar to things you might've seen, we had spreaded enough stories telling tales but they always get twisted about one way or another" "And I do believe I never said you would, its very annoying to try and do so but it can be fun at times" "Yes the codex has a lot of ancient magic that many would want, wether human or not, elder or not, its up to the one who wishes for it. But those who use it for power, well lets just say thats a main reason your ancestor has the book"

"Is equivalent exchange a part of it?" If Vivi starts learning alchemy...he would like to know that before he loses a body part. He'd like to keep those if possible. "I was just stating that I wouldn't. I see no benefit in it right now." Except he could live longer which, in his mind, is no benefit unless there's something important going down that he must finish. "Magic isn't needed to achieve what most people want....such as wealth." He's not saying magic is useless or anything. It has its place as everything else does. But many people want wealth and magic is not required to get that although it may help. "And for many things nowadays, there is science that can help, such as fertility treatments." He's kind of going on a tangent or a kind of rant. "Though magic has its place...." And things it can do that science cannot.

"Usually exchange would be energy or depending on the level of the spell, if it is a powerful one, it could take your life or you could be placed in a coma" Eric answered. Eric led the boy back to the front with the egg "You can keep the egg and of course the ring was your since you would've been born. So, if you'll excuse me I do have other matters to attend to. You can think about it as long as you want, you don't 'have' to become my apprentice though you are one of the very few that can" Eric was sure he could find another one but wasn't about to push that luck at the moment. The evening was almost over but Eric said "If you wish to see if that ring is for real, imagine a type of magic and see what it can do outside the shop but try not to harm others if you can"

Vivi nods a bit as he talks. "Not that I plan on doing anything like that..." He's interested in learning about that type of thing, but it doesn't mean he actually wants to do it anytime soon if ever. He just follows Eric back to the front. "How long have you been looking for an apprentice?" The answer does matter to him. It could push himself closer to yes...even though he isn't sure what all he's getting himself into. "I can believe the ring is real. It did move. I don't hallucinate that type of stuff." He's seen some weird stuff, not magical...he thinks, but still he's seen nothing like a moving ring.

"I've been looking for one for about...hm...well its been too long to count the years, but its been awhile" Eric spoke listening to the rest of it and nodded "Many do say that, but, the stop people think they see is actually what is real in this world, not this cover up of a new age" Eric stated simply.

"I'm gonna assume that means more years than you look apparently." Without realizing it, Vivi is kind of hugging the egg to himself, the typical mother things. "Minds like to pray tricks and try to explain things away as much as possible so that the person....doesn't break? I guess. So it tries to find a "logical" explanation for what was going on and then files it away and tries to bury it."

"I am far older than most would think" Though Eric himself looked to be about 28 at the very most. Eric smiled, amusement on his face now "Oh and what 'logicalness' is there to this? Or have you found one yet?" Eric was more interested now in the way this boy was thinking rather than his answer.

"I was thinking that....since you don't look that old." Vivi kind of chuckles a bit. "That's for the brains who have people that can't accept what they're seeing at the time. I can accept this. So my brain is just storing away the information." He just smiles a bit. "Or later they remember it, but as a dream or something and possibly write books on it that they think are fiction." It wouldn't surprise him if some books came to be through that.

"Well I do believe it is getting late, you'll probably want to get home soon and like I said before, there are other things I must take care of" Eric spoke not trying to push him out but he had a few errands to run this late and a few other things to do with the shop.

Vivi just kind of shoves the egg into his hoodie pocket thing since it has a big pocket. And carrying a big egg around would probably look weird. He just gives Eric this look that obviously says that he doesn't have to be home anytime soon. He has those parents that don't care long as he doesn't get in trouble and his grades stay good. "Mmm. Okay then. Bye." He waves a bit before leaving and heading home.

Once the boy left another person stepped into the store passing up Vivi, he was wearing a trench overcoat and an old hat like old men wear. "Good evening" he spoke and once past he took his hands out of his pocket as the door oepened "We're closed sorry" Eric spoke not paying attention and looked at the customer then got in a defense mode. "Who are you" it was a question but Eric just wanted the man to reveal himself.

Vivi just feels like something might be off. Just a little. Since that man just sends off warning bells in his head....just a few. But he does have some sense of self preservation and doesn't go barging up in there. It might be nothing. He could just be paranoid right now....so until he knows...he'll just get near the door and listen in like a bad eavesdropper. He cares about other people a lot....so if Eric is about to be in trouble....maybe he can do something...though he has no clue what.

"Who do you think I am?" the man spoke taking his hat off of his head revealing who he was, Eric saddly had thought of him to be someone else, maybe the famous Flamel, but, he was wrong. The one who showed up was a bald man, who smelled of clay, and even looked almost like "A golem, get out of my store" without further questions or anything else at all. Eric mumbled a spell and casted the golem outside of his shop breaking his door, he would fix that later on of course.

Eric stood there watching four more Golems appear, using magic to fix the first one, and then they stood ready to fight. "Golems using magic, thats something you don't see everyday, eh" Eric spoke walking out of his own store and into the night. Luckily most would be asleep, others would think that they were seeing things like most humans did.

Vivi is very glad he picked near and not at the door when something comes flying out of it. At that point, he makes a noise....out of fear that he's going to be squished. Very squished, like a tortilla. That's when Vivi decides disappearing would be a very good idea right now. Why didn't he do it sooner? Curiousity. That's why. He should really learn to ignore that feeling. And so, he takes off running as fast as a white boy can to get home. And then he's going to be paranoid since his parents won't be home. So he'll be alone and all now. So he gets home and makes sure the doors are locked and everything before going to curl up on the couch and stares at the egg.

Eric started casting a spell that leaves Golems glued to the ground but it didn't hit them. A flask and a glass bottle mixture came into view as it was tossed in the air ridding the golems of control. Eric looked over to see...

The egg would move everynow and then but most dragon eggs hatched at night so it was normal, this one however wasn't normal as it moved and then stopped. If you put your ear to it you could hear the heartbeat of the dragon.

Well, Vivi doesn't know it's natural...or not natural for that matter. He has no clue whatsoever. Vivi kind of squeaks as the egg moves. "You trying to hatch in there, little buddy?" He halfway curls around the egg, and tries to listen in on anything that might be going on in the egg. "Good to know you're alive in there." He can hear the heartbeat. "So....I'll just wait and see if you can come out on your own..." He's seen shows where things need help out of their eggs....not a dragon, but other things. In the back of his mind, he's still a bit worried about Eric...and kind of ashamed that he ran like that, but he didn't have a clue as to what to do.

(lol I'm back btw, I left to go outside for a bit)

Soon the night came and went, Eric was busy talking to his college like of a friend. So they stayed up all night, normally he would try to sleep, but, this was far too exciting for him. Maybe the boy would return or maybe he would just stay away from the shop. His friend started working in the back while Eric started fixing up store in the front to make it look a bit neater and nicer. He even fixed the broken glass out there, his friend brought him some coffee while they talked about magic and science both being convenient. Today would've been saturday, and it was only around 7am.

Well, Vivi passed out during the night even with his mild paranoia, so when he wakes up, he puts the egg back in the hoodie pocket. "I think they'd mess with a big egg if you were just laying around...so....you're coming with me." It's shower time. He gets some clothes and does his ritual shower thing. Yes, Vivi still wakes up early on the weekends. He's weird like that. So he gets dressed, putting the egg back in the hoodie pocket after he puts it, a random t-shirt, and some cargo pants on. And then he heads out, ending up out infront of the store just kind of watching it. He's still debating. He wants to learn...but he's not big on what happened last night in any form. He kind of peeks into his hoodie pocket. "What do you think?" Not like the egg is going to answer or anything, but it makes him feel less crazy talking to the egg than himself.

(Well....I didn't know you left XP And is the door still destroyed? Aaaaaand...you control egg until it hatches -doesn't know when it should hatch))

Eric was sweeping while humming, the store was open, but, no one around was there, most cumstomers came around night or evening. The best ones did at least. The egg shook violently and then started feeling like a phone getting a text and was on vibrate, just a bigger movement. It kept rocking back and forth and eventually a crack could be heard that sounded louder than it should've been. (it can hatch anytime I was making the egg stuff up as I went)

(the golem go throw the door? or am I confused .-. That's very likely and I don't know when it should hatch D:)

Vivi kind of jumps and makes a weird noise as he checks on the egg again. "Giving me heart palpitations. Gosh!" He kind of pokes at the egg. "Guess this is my answer on when you might hatch." He sighs a bit before heading into the store since he doesn't know how to take care of a baby dragon.

"Oh hello Vivi" Eric spoke with the door opening to the sound of the bell. "You're on a first name basis with customers, Eric?" a voice from the back spoke "Oh shush, Nicholas" Eric responded knowing he will pay for that later on. "Did you need something today?" he never gave him food let alone an instruction manual for the little dragon.

"Hello." Vivi lifts an eyebrow, his way of asking who the hell is that? Since the guy wasn't here last night...at least not while he was here. Maybe he came after, but either way he's curious. At the question he gives Eric this flat look. "Oh....considering it's hatching...just a little." Yeah...he was hoping the dragon wouldn't hatch so soon, but he's not too surprised by it.
