poetry isnt something you get help with.poetry just comes up and hits you :feesh: with inspiration. you have to feel strongly about something in order to write a poem about it

It's so true. You can TRY to sit down and write a poem about whatever, whenever.

But honestly, it doesn't really work that way.

Even when inspiration does hit you...you may look at one or more of your poems later and go "ugh, I can't believe I wrote that it's so (cheesy/pathetic/whatever)"

For me I usually can't get into the mood enough to write fluffy happy or cute and silly poems. I have to depressed or angry. And sometimes even then I'm not in the mood to write a poem and would rather play games or something to get over it....

Yes. Poetry isn't like novel writing where you can sit down and just write and write. However, I'm sure that if you tried just writing whatever floated into your head, something of inspiration would/will come to you. I've had this happen to me before with some song lyrics I needed to write. Heh.. that was on a dead line as well!

Just don't over think it, the more you try and force and idea the farther out of reach it may seem. Just relax, writers block happens even to professional writers. Just be calm and wait, when your read the ideas will flow to you. Maybe you just need a break. Or if your dead set on trying to write now, maybe try a change of scenery.
