I'm alright with yaoi, I guess. When I'm..."in the mood". But honestly, it USUALLY -not always- gives ignorant fangirls the idea that gay men in real life are ALWAYS making sure that one is the "seme" and one the "uke", which is disgusting in itself.
Same thing for Yuri...
One the upside, as long as it's not an obvious seme/uke thing, it's pretty erm...enjoyable. XD and funny to look at.

Sho-Shonojo; Oh WOW that's an epic coincidence. And yeah, I've read all of the Terre D'ange books, including the new ones with Moirin. I was really sad to hear that she doesn't plan on doing any more of them. I haven't read the viking themed books; I tried but they didn't catch my interest as much as the others, sadly.

Lol. I was so shocked when you said it. Crazy coincidence. I've read all of them too except for the last Moirin book. Waiting for softcover. Viking? You don't mean Banewreaker and GodSlayer do you? They're a little harder to read than her Terre D'Ange books, but I think they ended well. I wonder what she'll write next.
Sorta back on subject I wish she would have gone more into detail in Imriel's few gay encounters. She's so detailed in all the other sex scenes. TT.TT

i love it! but like pervertprince i'm not a fan of the term "yaoi", for some reason...maybe it's because i don't really enjoy watching anime?
(and i find guys making out hot to be honest )

This is kind of a tricky subject for me. Let me begin with saying, I am a homosexual transgender. Meaning? I'm a gay male trapped in a female body. Female x Female and Female x Male does not appeal to me at all.
I've come to dislike the words "Yaoi", "Uke", "Seme", and "Seke" since most of the time I see them being tossed around are from the young "yaoi fangirls". The same people who try to "relate to me and know how I feel" for being a homosexual transgender when they really have no idea how I feel.
My interest for Male x Male goes outside of "anime". I'm also interested in real human males (18+ only) together. Not like some "yaoi fans" who think it's gross to see two real males kissing.
I've been called "picky" as well when I get into a conversation about what I like in a "yaoi" pairing. I'm not into shota (because to me, that's child pr0n and I'm against it completely), I'm not into furry stuff, and feminine men (cross-dressing included) turn me off completely. I like manly men (18 years old or older) who aren't helpless.

Larxene: Well, unfortunately for you, there is no end to all those things you mentioned not likeing the the Yaoi genra, so why not look up this fun thing called Bara? It seems much more to your taste. Hairy chests and legs, and the relationship physics are much more macho. You should look it up!

To be a "manly man", you don't need to be "MEGA MACHO" either. I was just saying, the helpless feminine kind of males aren't part of what I'm really interested in. I guess I like the more "average manish males" the most. I don't know if you've heard or seen it, but (for example) there is a character from Junjou Romantica known as Hiroki Kamijou. He's not a heavy weight pushing power man but nor is he a helpless person who needs someone to sweep him off his feet and save him. He can handle on his own with his fiery attitude and can actually be rather violent when angered enough.

I agree with ya Larxene. I can't stand shota, or furry, or that totally girly men. I don't like bara either. I just want average men falling in love with each other. Maybe that's why I focus on my original characters over any other pairings?
I keep hearing about Junjou Romantica but I've never seen it. I suppose I should take a look into it?

Junjou Romantica and Sekaiichi Hatsukoi are two series I recommend looking up and watching. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi though, I think, is better than the two seasons of Junjou Romantica. I'm not sure if Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is going to be getting a second season though. I hope that they do. The first season of it only recently ended. It also has one OVA episode out.

It's interesting and different. I think it also open's up ideas of romance for women and young girl's without having them worry that women are being exploited by men. I think that also their relationships are usually taboo and when a same sex couple is able to cement their relationship it makes it all the better.
Also it is comparable to some straight men liking yuri/lesbian related fiction...etc. (I'm keeping it PG) Some people enjoy seeing two men enjoying one another and having a relationship.

Yeh, I like to look at some aoi like that. "Yaoi is my Playboy." Playgirl just has too many girls in them, I swear. I wanna see men, so I read Yaoi. Stright guys like looking at girls, so they watch things with girls in it. And if the girls are, ehem, enjoying one another's company and aren'c cinsidered gross, why are two guys not viwed the same way? It confuses me. . . .
And where did people get the idea that gay men in yaoi are weak? I'd say anyone who can take the, um, strain of being on the bottom, has more willpower and tolerance then this "SIssy prissy" steriotype people seem to associate with being gay. . . . . . :P

I am major on acceptance of well, everything equal really.
I used to love gay love comics and such... now I really don't care for it, infact it's the fans who turned me off of it. c:
I have to agree with a previous point made, it is starting to annoy me with how pairings are being made when they are soo obvious! But it IS one's fantasy, actually I am like sooo not into pairing my favorite Korean band ever... boy band B2ST to be exact. They had Yoseob and Kikwang I think paired up. But the video was SOOO cute! Ahh Yoseob slapped him playfully, really cute! (obviously Yoseob is my bias! ;3 )
As long as YOU enjoy it, have whatever kind of mindset you want! Did I mention I am so tempted to say I hate it then go all you fans suck just to troll? Just kidding. c:  Though that would be mindless of me to do! xD A note on the "hating", umm.. just get over it, BOTH sides? I'm sure Obviously is actually already over it, to me it seems so what with his responses and the likes. So don't hate on haters..? xD
I have never really read a novel that had gay love in it. (Whether it be mxm or fxf!) Or any other love except for curious/confused or hetero.
By the way, with having yaoi and yuri SO popular now, all around the world really, it is not often, but not once in a blue moon either in more modernized places to come across yaoi or yuri. Even then, it's not entirely our 100% choice of choosing when and where we see or read something about it. Signatures can have these things and avatars; A LOT of people show their support for what they love.
My take on the recent say-sos on this thread. c:

I don't really care. I like a good plot line, so if it has a good plot line and it's not basically hentai, then I will watch or read yaoi. I'm not a homophobe so IDC is something is yaoi, but I don't go out of my way to watch it either.

I don't really mind it. As long as the storyline and artwork is good, then I'll be more than happy to read/watch/support whatever happens.

Well, Yaoi and Shonen-Ai are two different genras, and translate into two different things. Yaoi is supose to have the mature ness and sex in it, that's what makes it Yaoi and NOT shonen-ai. I do like myself a good Shonen-ai, in fact I own all of Loveless, but there is something about a good Yaoi that gets to me on a far deeper level then the fluffy Boys Love most people here seem to enjoy.

I'm sort of meh towards yaoi. Some of it is okay, but a lot of it reinforces horrible stereotypes and other disgusting things like the "rape is love" trope.
But every once in a while I find a wonderful yaoi manga or webcomic that doesn't do any of that and suddenly the world is just a bit brighter again.

I love yaoi and yuri. BUT! The story has to be well written as well as the art be top notch. If not, I just can't do it. I'm reading a few at the moment; Teahouse is really good. [Males and females in the story, it just happens that all of the guys are gay, lol. Link: http://www.teahousecomic.com]
