Mallon looked at her intensly for a moment. Then he sighed. "Yeah, just don't read anything out loud. I don't mind if you learn things in there. But you will pay for the concequinces if you cast a spell." He thought for a moment. "Just leave the black book locked and put them on the small shelve carved into the stone." He nodded and turned around and was meaning to leave, then stopped. "Yeah, I'll bring you something to wear." Then left.

Jemini smiled and nodded. "We are agreed." She knew he could have control over her as he sort of would him. But she knew she was getting the short stick. She unlocked the cuffs and slower took them off. She knew he'd been burned, but to what extense was unknown till she saw it. She inhaled sharply though her teeth, making a hissing noise. "I am so sorry..." She bit her lip and untied the rest of him and took a step back to give him room to breathe.

With a happy sigh, the young woman plunged into her reading. Avidly searching trough each volume Meredith began organizing them. The first thing she did was weed out the black books and place them carefully on the stone shelf. The vials went into chests she found lying around with nothing in them. Each one was padded quite well, which led her to believe this was their destined purpose.

The jewelry was placed all in a row upon one shelf at waist height. Each piece was amazing, and Meredith wondered if Mallon was the one to have created such wonders. Shaking her head, she returned to organizing the books after placing the last necklace upon the shelf. All this activity took quite a long time, though Meredith did not realize just how long. It didn't really matter, she lived alone in an apartment.

Standing with a small smile the prince inclined his head. He was quite tall, much taller then the girl beside him. It was difficult to tell if she was of average height or not for the fey, he hadn't had much occasion to speak with humans before. "I need you to stand still for a few moments, this will not hurt." Reaching out, the blond placed a hand on her chest where he thought her heart to be. The fire would appear as a beautiful crystal, and it's presence in the world would make her vulnerable. "You do understand that if anyone else receives your fire, it will be them who has you under their thrall?" Despite what she and her kin had put him trough, Hayden still wanted to make sure she knew what this deal entailed.

Mallon silently left a fresh change of clothes on a bench near the entrance to the room. He'd then went back to work. He was ragged by time he finished what he was working on. He stiffled a yawn when he came back to the room. He found the clothes right where he left them and Meredith still at work. He was surprised at how neat the room looked. He'd have to find something else for her to do. She had done a month's worth of sorting in less than a day. He smiled and walked up to her. He looked like a mess, like he'd be working for days straight. "Meredith? Where are you?"

Jemini couldn't move even if she wanted to. For some reason she just stared at him. When he touched her she had an urge to run. She didn't like that feeling. She was completely safe....right? She swollowed hard and nodded to him. She did not move as he talked. "I...how could I completely understand this? I am not fey and I've never heard of this before." She took a breath, she had agreed and she didn't go back on what she said. "Does that mean...anyone can take it? Or just another fey?"

She was reading. The book was absolutely fascinating about the powers of stones and what they could do. There was a list of the attributes of each jewel, precious or not, and what they could do. The best thing was... No one would know it as magic except her. Upon hearing her name Meredith looked up. Her blue eyes caught hold of the disheveled man and brightened. "I got distracted by this book. It's amazing!" Her gaze went to the clothes in a pile upon the bench. "Thanks for bringing the clothes, I didn't notice though.."

A slightly worried frown crossed his face. Hayden sighed. "They would have to kill me first of course." It went without saying that this was something only people in desperate straights did, or those who were desperately in love. Since they weren't the latter, Hayden could only conclude they were desperate for something other then love. "Well, shall I continue? I promise as soon as I have your fire safely in hand, I will tell you my name.. All of it." He was beginning to worry someone might enter at any moment. There were shadows in the light. Things that couldn't be attributed to the pain of his burns. [COLOR="Silver"]

Mallon smiled a little at how excited she acted. He came up to her and glanced at the book. "Ah. Magic stones. That's a nice book." He smiled and nodded again. "Well, they've been there awhile. How about you shower, change and go home? You may take the book if you'd like. Just bring it back tomorrow." He stretched a little. "I am tired. I'm not kicking you out, I just don't want you to get into trouble while I can't do anything to help."

Jemini just nodded and watched him with an unsure smile. "I trust you." Her voice was quiet, but strong. She nodded again and took a steady breath, which made her feel better. "Go ahead. You might want to hurry before they come back." She knew she could never tell her father. He'd try to kill the fey in front of her, probably getting himself killed in the process, so she could be whole again.

The young woman reluctantly put the book aside and went to pick up the clothes. A t-shirt which had seen better days and some pants which would certainly be too large. "One question.. Where's the shower?" She was surprised that he even had one. This was an underground cave, far away from the eyes of the city. If they knew about a place like this, it would be destroyed for the possibility of being a secret hideaway... As it was being used for the purpose right now, Meredith couldn't fault those thoughts.

Without further ado Hayden began the process. He sent a tendril of his magic within the young woman to find her fire. It wasn't difficult, because she had agreed to the process. While Hayden did so, he found her name. For a second the thought crossed his mind that it suited her. Shaking his head, he pulled the fire out until it pooled and hardened within his hand into the shape of twin flames, it did suit her this name of hers. "My name...It is Hayden Demetrius Stargazer." Clutching her fire to his heart with sweat pooling upon his brow, the young fay tried to hide how difficult and trying the process had been.

Mallon smiled and crooked a finger. "This way." He walked away, but made sure she was behind him. "Its not your typical shower, but magic is useful sometimes. "I'm sorry about the clothes. I'm the only one that lives here, so...yeah." He stopped and smiled. He stood beside an entrance to a tunnel that turned to the left. You could hear water falling in the distance. "All you have to do is say hotter or colder to adjust the temperture. The water is clean."

Jemini concentrated on breathing steadily. She watch him and her eyes grew a little wider. She saw the flame came out and a stiffled sigh came out of her. She shivered involuntaly. She was a little colder, but maybe it was all in her head. She nodded slightly, commiting his name to memory. She had a feeling he knew hers by now. She shivered again, now unsure what to do. "I...I think you need to sit." She looked at the chair that she had previously been sitting it.

After following him towards the magical shower, the young woman nodded. "Thank you. I would probably have drowned you know." Shaking her head, Meredith slipped into the tunnel. After walking under magical lights for a while the tunnel widened into a small cavern. A pool of water lay under a small waterfall. Directly below the rushing water was a ledge upon which anyone could stand. Moving forward Meredith quickly stripped down and cleaned herself with the items she found there. Soon enough she was changed and refreshed, though her clothing was baggy and ill fitting.

Retracing her footsteps was an easy task, and one quickly completed. She wasn't sure where Mallon was, but then remembered the necklace. Putting the lily stoned thing back on once more the brunette smiled. "Mallon?"

Hayden's eyes widened a little at the suggestion. After a moment's thought he did so with a relieved expression. The flame in his hands had crystallized by now into a much smaller version of itself. From his pocket the fay retrieved a single earring with a sphere of wires dangling from it. Opening the little circle, he then placed the twin flames within carefully. That done he slipped it into one of the many holes in his ears, though he wore no earrings at the moment. "Jemini, what is it you wished to know? And... I apologize for my suspicion, but I thought it well founded under the circumstances." Placing his hands upon his knees, Hayden looked up at the standing woman while he was still collecting himself.

Mallon had moved over to a couch that was near his work table. While she was in the shower, he'd fallen asleep. His sleeps were hard ones to wake him from. You'd have to blow something up to get him to open his eyes.

Jemini watched his reaction, though it didn't regester as strange. She moved and leaned against the table, her butt only on it a little. Her arms crossed as she looked at him. It wasn't an unkind look. "Alright. I want to know why you're here." She'd figured he was some super important fey. But he couldn't be that important. He didn't have any guards or servents. Or maybe....he was just that powerful to live in the human world alone. His power didn't seem evil, so he couldn't be here on bad intentions...could he?

Repeating his name once more, Meredith began moving forward. She went to the library and searched for him there. Not finding the man, she went to search elsewhere. It hadn't been forbidden to wander, and Meredith was glad of that. There were some places lit, while others were dark. That was how she began her search, and why she found the white haired man so easily. Instead of going anywhere near the table full of strange things Merefith moved directly to the couch. Her gaze watched the sleeping man, and a small sliver of sympathy welled up within her. Finding a nearby blanket she placed it upon him and sat down with her back leaning against the couch. The brunette's blue eyes closed as a light doze overtook her.

A chuckle left Hayden. "All this, and that is what you ask? I am a prince of royal blood searching fro his true love. I suppose that is clear enough." Lifting his eyes to the girl, he regarded her speculatively. The blond rubbed the tattoo which marked him as a royal prince and laughed ruefully. Jemini had already had her answer, and not even known it. "What a shame, to have gone trough so much trouble when you already had the answer." There was genuine regret in the melodious voice of the fey as he spoke.

Mallon suddenly felt warmer and pulled the blanket around him tighter. He started to snore softly. He had a strange dream, moving around in the couch gently. He sighed and was walking down a street. Suddenly he saw a flash of color and a small human girl stood before him. She held out her hands, as if she was carrying something. Suddenly, a flame appeared in her hand. At first it was hot and red, but it started to freeze from the bottom up. Once it reached the top, the crystal flame fell and shattered. The broken flame made no noise and the girl's eyes glazed over. Mallon woke with a gasp. He hated having visions in his sleep. He saw his new 'friend' sitting against the couch asleep and sighed softly. At least it hadn't been her in his vision.

Jemini nodded slightly. It really had been all she wanted from him. She didn't care what happened to her. A feeling entered her heart that her life would change with this man...err...fey. She walked up to him and smiled, almost unsure. "My father will let you go today. I garantee it." She then sort of looked shy. "You said that you are here to find your true love...but do you have anyplace to stay?"

Mumbling silently, murmuring softly, Meredith moved little in her sleep. Hazily, she woke from the light slumber she'd unintentionally fallen into. There had been a sound which had woken her. Looking around at the surroundings made things a little uncomfortable. For a few moments the blue eyed girl wondered where she was until she looked behind her. "You were asleep, and looked exhausted.. I didn't want to wake you." The explanation didn't seem like it was needed, but Meredith said it all the same. There was no telling why Mallon had woken with such a gasp.

A speculative frown crossed Hayden's face. There was one place... But he needed to send a message at night from a safe haven. It was hard to tell what time it was in the windowless cell. "I trust your word Jemini. And, I may have a place to stay, with a friend of sorts... But not for tonight." Standing, he towered above her. It was a common misconception that all fey were small. The royals and nobles were of a different sort entirely then those usually noticed by humans. "Have you found your true love?" The inquiry came out softly and gently, as if Hayden was afraid to hear the answer despite himself.

Mallon looked down at her. Then he sighed and shook his head. "Thank you....I had a vision." The he looked at her and smiled a little. "But, its not important right now." He swung his legs off the couch and stood, ruffling his hair a little. "Well. How about we go look for a place for you to live?"

Jemini watched his face, then nodded a little. It wouldn't put any stress on her father if he had someone else to stay with. She'd blinked and not noticed he stood until she looked at him again. "Um..." She swallowed a lump that had formed. "I am not married...or have a boyfriend, if thats what you mean.." She was confused, then she thought he was trying to see if she would be his true love. Then she mentally shook her head and concentrated again, denying the possibilty. "My home is open to you since you have nowhere to stay tonight." There was a knock on the door.

A little bubble of laughter escaped Meredith. It was slightly of kilter, because he'd just spoken of visions. All the same she stood and regarded Mallon with a smile. Absentmindedly the young woman began playing with the necklace upon her throat. "I already have a place. We could go have a look at it though." She'd just moved in that summer and was very proud of herself for having done so. "Maybe I could cook something up for us. I'm still learning but it's better then take out." Looking at the strange man, she wondered what he did for food.

The uncertainly in her eyes made her seem quite endearing and sweet. Quite the opposite of those scheming for power in the courts. They were constantly currying for the prince's favor, without a thought to the fact that it only pushed him further. "No need to worry Jemini, I look at everyone with speculation in this matter... It isn't only you." Of course, it was only the people he was attracted to which he would ever question in such a way. It was implied when Hayden said everyone. "I owe you a debt for everything you have done," added Hayden. The knock made him sit down as a precaution. He was afraid his new acquaintance, friend, might get in trouble otherwise.

Mallon tilted his head in confusion, then he laughed softly. "Alright. Food it is then. What would you cook? I don't usually eat human food, but I'll eat whatever you put in front of me." He was in a much better mood at the mention of food. Typical male.

Jemini smiled and nodded a little. Well, there goes the thought that she was special. Not that she believed that...she interpreted it wrong. She blinked, then shook her head. She jumped when the knock was heard. She lost the words that she was going to say. It took her a moment to find words. "We're done. You may come in, Chief West." She was all professional again. Her father came in, looking like he'd stayed outside the door the whole time. "Chief, I believe that he is telling the truth. I would like him to describe the person he helped to a sketch artist. If she agrees to his story, he should be set free." Her father stared at her. Where had this boldness come from? Especially at work. She was never this forward to him. He nodded though, believing her. "Alright. I'll get him." He looked at Hayden and was suspicious, wondering why he was in that seat. Then he left. Jemini smiled a little at Hayden when he left. "So...could I get you anything?"

Tilting her head to the side, she regarded him strangely. "If you aren't human, then what are you?" Meredith looked at his ears, but they were hidden by his hair. Truly, the only signs she saw that Mallon wasn't human were his eyes and te premature whiteness of his hair. For all she knew, people of his kind always had white hair! "And are you allergic to anything?"

Hayden listened to the exchange with interest and tried not to appear too comfortable. Obviously this wasn't normal procedure... Then again, nothing was ordinary when Hayden was involved. When the man left, Hayden stood and stretched with a yawn. The day's events were catching up with him. "Nothing really, except getting me out which you have already taken care of." He winked at her, a little surprised at himself. "Perhaps a little more time spent in your company?"

Mallon looked at her oddly, then laughed softly. "I'd forgotten that humans don't see elves very often." He shook his head and moved his hair to the side. His ears came to a soft point, about two inches longer than those of a humans. Then he shook his head again. "I'm only allergic to angels for some reason." He shrugged.

Jemini smiled and watched Hayden for a moment. "You do need to describe the woman you helped before you leave. Father will know you are staying with me until your story checks out. I'm sure it will by tomorrow." She looked at him surprised when he winked at her. She was at a loss for words for a moment, then smiled a little shyly. "Yes, thats fine with me."

Without thinking, Meredith reached out to place a fingertip on the exposed point of an ear. A small sound of wonder escaped her, though this wasn't the most wondrous of things she had seen that day. A blush crept up her face as she realized what she'd done. Backing away quietly, Meredith looked to the ground suddenly shy in the face of this living legend. A legend indeed! There were descriptions of him, of Mallon, from the time when the battles raged between humans and all the other races. "I'm sorry... It's just that I've read and read about elves in forbidden books that I had to sneak out from garage sales and flea markets, and to think I've been speaking with one all this time!" A small smile tugged at her lips, while her blue eyes tilted up.

Annoyance flickered trough Hayden's grey eyes before slipping away to hide again. There was so much at stake, much more then any of the humans knew. Another war would break out if the family of Stars didn't stay in power. Such grim thoughts though, did not need to carry the day. "I will be quick about it, then you can show me your city." After he'd hidden his ears under a hat. That had been part of the problem in the first place.

Mallon stayed still, unsure of what she was doing. When she touched his ear, he chuckled. "Its quite alright. Humans don't believe in us anymore. Its how we wanted it anyway. There were too many deaths among both our peoples." He shrugged slightly and held out his hand. "Tell me your address and I'll take us to your house."

Jemini saw the annoyance and thought it was her fault. She looked at her feet for a moment, than nodded. She sat in the iron chair and said nothing more. The sketch artist came in, took the description, making sure the picture looked like the person who Hayden had helped, than she left. Jemini then stood and couldn't help but smile a little. "We may leave now. I have to check you out at the front desk though."

Taking his hand with a smile, Meredith began rattling off where she lived. It wasn't all that far from the bridge, because the water was so near and offered such a beautiful view. Nearby was a park, a beautiful place that was now wittered. Meredith's theory was that the dryads had left, thus causing the death or hardships upon the greenery they had once cared for. "I believe in you," stated Meredith once she was sure Mallon knew her address.

After telling the artist his description, he stood to face Jemini. Holding out a hand, he wondered what might make her smile truly and shook the notion away. If Hayden ever returned with a human, they would both be murdered. The prince wouldn't even be able to fault his people, considering the losses they had suffered at the hands of the mortal race. "The prospect of leaving this place is more heartening then you could ever know." To see the sky again!

Mallon smiled and nodded. "I agree. Dryads don't like staying in heavily populated places." Then he thought and nodded. He pulled her close, in to a sort of hug. "Sorry." Then he closed his eyes and he was there. It was sort of amazing actually. He smiled and looked around. "Oh. Shoot. I should've changed first."

Jemini blinked, then took his hand with a small smile. "This way." She smiled and walked down the hall in an excited way. For some reason she had a craving to see the sky that she'd never had before. Was this really her feeling? She pulled him to the elevator and took the empty one. "Here we go." She looked at him, wondering if he'd been on one before.

Instead of responding the young woman clutched herself to the elf. Whether it was because she wanted no chance of being left behind, or because she relished the contact, Meredith did not know. Either way, she was sasd when he backed away. "Mallon, what do you think of my place?" They'd shown up in her living room. A clutter of antiques were littered here and there, while books covered many surfaces. Without waiting for an answer, Meredith went to get some vegetable soupr ready.

Following her without question, Hayden found himself smiling. This was going to be quite an adventure, this search for love. The moment the contraption, the small room, began moving.. They fey prince wrapped his arms around the young woman instinctively. He was afraid, but at the same time thought of protecting Jemini.

Mallon smiled and looked around. "These things are quite old, for humans anyway. That is surprising." He searched around the room almost like a treasure hunt.

Jemini smiled and looked at him. The next thing she knew she was against him and couldn't move. A deep blush appeared on her face and she looked up at him. "Hayden....its an elevator. It won't hurt you..." She was a little shocked and embarrased. She hadn't expected that.

After a while, she left Mallon in the living room to check the soup again. Finding it ready MEredith prepared two bowls and placed them carefully on the table. "Food's ready, hope you like it." It wasn't very much. Vegetable soup with crackers... Meredith had a happy of cooking for six people then freezing the left overs, but she hadn't wanted to do that at such an hour with a guest.

Releasing her with a grimace, the fay regarded this contraption. He'd seen cars before, but never elevators. "Well this has been embarrassing." Averting his grey eyes from Jemini, Hayden attempted to compose himself. Every lurch of the elevator only emphasized the strangeness of the situation.

Mallon was looking at a book when she came in. He looked up with a smile and nodded, setting the book down where he'd found it. "I'm sure I will." He came over and looked at the food. Soup. That was actually surprising to him. Then he smiled and motioned to her seat. He would never sit before the lady did.

Jemini's blush had just disappeared when he released her. She watched him then gently touched his forearm. "Its alright. I was deathly afraid of elevators when I was a child. My father had to ride with me in this one up and down almost 20 times before I finally let go of him." It was very embarrasing, but she wanted to make him feel better.
