Chinese herbal soup is generally easiest: put everything in, bring to boil, put in slow cooker for a few hours while you get on with your life. If the meat is frozen, you don't even have to defrost it, really. If you don't want to wait the few hours, you can also pressure-cook it.

The ones that are broth-based are usually second easiest, since it's really just adding the other ingredients to the broth in the right order that matters (eg. onions, carrots and celery first, spinach and pasta last, that sort of thing).

Next comes the cream of (insert vegetable here) type. The basic idea is to saute the vegetables and seasonings, add broth and simmer for a bit, then blend in the food processor with the cream. However, there are a great many things you can do or add to "customize" the soup to your tastes or make it better (for instance, when I make cream of asparagus, I roast the asparagus with a bit of olive oil and garlic salt in the oven before I put it in the soup because it tastes better that way, in my opinion), which is where the complexity comes in.

Seafood soups are generally difficult because there's...kinda no set rule..? I mean, fish is not shrimp is not clam, so of course you handle each of those differently, and timing is really important (especially with fish because it is very easy to overcook fish, which ruins the texture).

Recipe books! They are especially great for new food ideas. I think I have at least one that is just for soups.

I guess it comes from being an adventurous eater and having traveled a fair bit, so I've been able to try a lot of new/different foods. To be honest, I enjoy cooking more than I enjoy eating sometimes. I absolutely detest doing the dishes though!

I think the negative view of male nurses has less to do with the profession of nursing and more to do with the gender roles ingrained in patriarchal society, but that is a whole other discussion, and I have spent so much of my university life talking about it that I don't really want to open that can of worms and revisit it.

That's the spirit! What would you like to do with zoology? :)

Well, I suppose, one way of looking at it is that it's harder to be happy when you're financially insecure and always struggling to make ends meet. I mean, you probably won't be very happy if you're constantly worrying about getting evicted because you can't make the rent payment or not having enough groceries to feed your kids. So to a certain extent, it does matter. But once you're past that level, is a job you dislike worth the extra money, or would you rather earn a bit less while doing something you enjoy? All right, if you pick the former, you'll live better when you retire perhaps, but then you've also already spent the best years of your life going through the motions doing something your heart's never been in. Is the trade-off worth making? Your call, I guess.

Oh, I buy essential oils and blend them to my liking. Usually, I just use the resulting blend as is, dab a drop on my pulse points before I go out. It's super concentrated, so very little will suffice. I want to make proper perfume sprays, but perfumer's alcohol is expensive, and I'd have to get atomizer bottles for them too, so I never ended up purchasing them. :/

I should get some sleep too. I guess I'll talk to you tomorrow then. =D
Thats always nice. Like making a stew in the crock-pot. Put it in, let it simmer all day, and then eat it for dinner. ^^ Very handy.

Oh wow. That sounds really tasty. It sounds like you do have soups quite often, too. lol Its very rarely that I have soups, but the ones you speak of sound quite good. I especially like the ones with pasta and meat in them.

Seafooooood! I love it so, but I am sure i'd have a hard time with it. ><;; I'd probably have to get help from my parents for a bit. My mom makes a really good clam chowder that I should have her teach me. Hmm.

lol Yes! I will be going through my cookbooks to pick out ingredient to pick up when I go shopping today. Haha. And nice! I bet that has some really amazing and interesting soups. I have a cookbook that is called "Cheesecake & More." It. Is. Amazing!

Awesome. I've not really traveled much at all, but I definently would like to. ^^ Hopefully i'll be able to visit other countries sometime in my life, you know? I'd love to go to Ireland, for sure. And Austrailia. And yes, dishes are terrible! My mom always wants me to do the dishes, wether I made the food or she did. If she did, then she especially wants me to do the dishes. She's so lazy. -__-

Haha. No worries. No need to get deeper into it. Its just something I notice around. I have a male cousin that wants to go into nursing, too.

I'd really like to work with exotic animals. Perhaps at a zoo, or at some center for them. I'd really like to help ones in need, and would love to be able to help endangered animals. I would even like to be able to bring them to schools to teach people about them. I always thought that was really amazing as a kid, and I think its good for kids to be educated on animals.

Eh. I'd be fine with living in a crappy little place, really. I doubt with my career that I'll spend much time at home. And I dont want to have kids, so I dont have to worry about having something thats paying enough for them. Perhaps i'll want them one day, but that'll all depend on if/when I marry and who the person is and if we want that. But for now, its not in my life plans, and i'm not one that needs to have a fancy house or car and what not. As long as I'm happy with what I'm doing each day, i'll be happy. ^^ I have seen too many people that hate their jobs, and it wears down on them. And its not good for their kids, either. Because they become bitter people and grouchy all the time, and then try to stress higher-paying jobs onto their kids so that they'll be better off later on, but I dont think thats fair. Sure, you should suggest things and maybe hope your kids listen, but it should be their choice in the end.

Thats really neat. Where did you pick that trick up from? I bet they smell great, too. ^^ And that does suck. :/

Yeah, I slept in rather late without realizing it. ><;; I have a problem in that i'm generally a very deep sleeper. So when i'm out, i'm out. Which makes it hard to get up early. D:

Oh, and i'm going to tag you here, Luenola Marxiel: , that way you can find the reply later on. Haha. Sucks to try to dig down the response. :yes: Although, in the preview its not showing that thats actually pinging you. O_o;;
