The Lone Ranger was a good movie.
It had moments where it was just a little bit goofy & the Lone Ranger did come off as a little bit naive or stupid at points.
Johnny Depp was interesting as Tonto.
Helena Bonham Carter wasn't used near enough in my opinion, loved her leg weapon.
If you go to see it don't expect to see what you remembered from years ago.

World War Z - pretty good
Its not like the books - don't go in expecting it to be anything like the book.
It pretty much flushes your zombie survival plans out the window.
Gonna need to start working on more & different contingency plans/
It's worth the price of admission.
Damia - get this for me for Christmas. Another zombie movie to continue our holiday tradition.

Christmas has not been the best of holidays for us with family, so we are making our own traditions. We get pulled in so many directions that I don't enjoy the holiday. One year from the time I got done at work on Christmas Eve through Christmas night we had 8 family events we were expected at & drive a couple of hundred miles. By the time we got to the 6 event I collapsed on the couch & we just spent the night there. I think family forgets that is one of the worst time of year for me at work, most of the time around Christmas I am work 10-11 hours per day.
So a couple of years ago I said enough was enough. We tried spending on Christmas with Miscreant's mom, that won't happen again. Not enough time to deal with traveling 8 + hours to go see her & then having to deal with holiday traffic on top of that. I can't get more than 3 days off in a row at that time of year. And it was a really bad visit.
The Zombie Christmas I think started with getting Shawn of the Dead for Christmas & watching it while it snowed (a rare occurrence here). Since then we have got different Zombie movies for each other for Christmas. I got him one of the Dawn of the Dead movies, he got me Zombie Land, I know I am forgetting some.
Last Christmas I got him a boxset or the Resident Evil movies. We watched it between making cupcakes & cookies to give away for Christmas.

Pacific Rim was great. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Last night we went to the drive-in & watched Despicable Me 2 (again) & Grown Ups 2. I still love Despicable Me 2, it is just a great movie. Love the minions.
Grown Ups 2 was good, if you liked the first one then you will probably like this one.

It's like an updated version of The Amityville Horror. A normal family - husband and wife, with five (I think that many) daughters - move into the perfect house. They don't know who lived in the house before, or what happened there. But they're about to find out.
Supposedly based on a true story of a paranormal investigator and his wife, a clairvoyant. For years they did research, but until now, this family case file was kept hidden because of the intense horrors the family experienced.
I'm a horror fanatic, and it scared me, but it was an incredible movie with well-timed "jumpscares" and intricate camera movement that adds to the scene. I definitely recommend to anyone who likes the thrill of fear.

I wouldn't dream of watching a horror these days...I think the last horror film I watched was 13 ghosts...a very long time ago in the cinema. It wasn't all that scary and I only sort of jumped once, at a sudden and gory change that occurred....but it was rather disgusting, visually...and I thought as I left the cinema that day that I don't actually want to sit through over an hour of watching visually gross imagery. If it had context like maybe violence in war or something, I would consider...but not horror and paranormal type stuff.

The Conjuring was surprisingly mild in the terms of gore. I remember only one scene with blood, where a man cries blood, but that was it. Of course there was violence - getting thrown about by a ghost, the impression of murder - but it wasn't overdone, and it wasn't gore. It was a thriller, if anything.

I had heard it was good, but I haven't watched it yet.
I was still a little ticked off by the movie theater dropping RED2 from what they were showing on a Tuesday. I wanted to see it. We were gonna go to see it & RIPD, but they changed the time on it & pulled RED2 to show We are the Millers (or whatever the name of that movie is).

We just found out last night that the drive-in will probably have to close because the movie companies are going to all digital.
The 2 drive-ins close to us can't afford to buy digital projectors so I guess we will lose both of them.
One of them has been entered in a contest being held by Honda called Project Drive-in, but since we live in such a rural area I don't see us as having much of a chance of winning that contest. The contest ends today & the ones with the most votes will get a digital projector. I think Honda has promised to give away 5 projectors.
Our local drive-ins are some of the few left in the country & they are the only ones that still charge by the carload.
I have been going to this drive-in for over 30 years.
The one in the contest has been opened since 1949 & is still owned by the same family. I think they bought the one I usually go to several years ago to keep it from dying. I'm not even sure how long our local one has been open. The one in the contest is about a 45 minute drive from home, but then again everything is at least a 10-15 minute drive from here.
Last night was the last Sunday night movie of the season, once school starts back they don't get enough business on Sunday nights to keep it open. I don't think there were 10 cars there last night.
It was sort of an odd line-up... Turbo, which was a cute movie & World War Z.
World War Z was better than I expected, this was the second time we have watched it. If you are a fan of the Max Brooks book don't go in expecting it to be anything like the book. Brad Pitt actually did better in the movie than I thought he would. He is not one of my favorite actors so I never expect much from him, but he did pretty good in this role.

Nope I didn't see that one.
We were hoping to go to the drive-in this past weekend, but we had to go out of town.
It was a triple feature too. :(

We haven't got to go to the drive in for the last few weeks.
May try to go this weekend if anything good is playing.
