(Wow Draco a best friend? I am so enjoying this every time I read it lol)

Draco nodded "Yea, sounds better than hanging around a bunch of people" Draco left it at that as they headed into the Great Hall putting enough food on his plate to last awhile, he could always use magic to conjure up some kind of juice later. "Ready?" he asked walking over to her.

(Hee...hee...yay!)

Hermione smiled and nodded. All the way up the stairs and down the hallways, Hermione went on and on about how pathetic Ron was and how really hurt she felt for how him and Harry had treated her. She told him how she wouldn't stand for it anymore. "I'm just glad the Yule Ball is soon," she said with a shy smile as they entered the Prefect's room and sat down at the couch, the fire burning perfectly. "I bet you're relieved your not taking Pansy," she then said with a laugh.

"I wasn't planning on going with her anyways. This year I knew there would be a dance, however, I didn't want to be seen with her" Draco smiled "Besides, she has nothing on you" he complimented taking a drink of pumpkin juice (lol I wander what that tastes like XD) Draco started explaining or more like complaining how he couldn't like anyone else because pansy kept jinxing them and hexing them most of the time so that Draco would pay more attention to her. "She is just really annoying, glad I dont have to marry her anymore" though Draco still needed to find someone to be with before the year was up or else he would have to stay alone for the rest of his life. That was what the deal was between him and his father.

(I do too. My friend told me that Pumpkin Juice is basically pop/soda to wizards in Harry Potter xD )

Hermione just laughed and shook her head. Nothing on me... she thought in her mind as she ate her chicken she had ripped off from the chicken that sat in the middle of the Gryffindor table. She had already finished up her mashed potatoes and gravy. She still had a whole goblet of pumpkin juice untouched. She took a sip of it, savoring the flavor as she nearly spit it out with what Draco had just said now. "Marry?" she asked, suddenly highly curious. So much for the mood where she was gonna tell Draco about her feelings for him. She guessed the next opening for that would be the Yule Ball.

(okay excuse the post however it is written, i have the goblin king from Labyrinth with david bowie stuck in my head, ever heard of it or seen it?)

"Yea, lucky thing is I dont have to marry her. I made a deal with my father that I would find a new girl before the year was up and I wouldn't let him argue. Of course if I dont find anyone, he says I have to stay alone for the rest of my life." Or at least until Lucius Malfoy died at least. "Don't worry though, Pansy has a crush on others, lots of them, she'll get over these things and possibly go through the again"

(Heard of it? I'm in love with that movie! I wrote two fanfictions on it and painted a picture along with a few various sketches! <3 I-I'm in love with that movie so much. Labyrinth lover forever! <3)

Hermione remained quiet as she ate her dinner. She just nodded her head and quickly finished her food. When she finished, she put her plate on the coffee table and downed the rest of her Pumpkin Juice. She smiled at Draco for reassurance that everything was just fine. "I'm going to go get cleaned up now. I have some homework to take care of afterwords and I plan on doing it in here," she said as she motioned to the room. "I'll talk to you later," she said with a smile as she grabbed her usual towel, pajamas, soap, and shampoo. And with that, she was out of site.

(lol wow, I can so agree with you. My friend let me borrow her dvd and told me i should watch it so I did, lol sorry late reply just wrote ten detailed paragraphs on someone else's rp. lol)

Draco watched and listened to Hermione, he stood up with his own things putting them up, earlier in the morning he snuck out to take his bath once more, he kept thinking about what happened between them with the fun they had. Now that it was evening, she was taking her bath, Draco went to get his school stuff and opened his potions book. He had a couple other classes to do as well, maybe when she arrived back to do her homework, maybe she could help him with Herbology.

When Hermione had finished bathing, she dried off and put her damp hair up in a pony tale, slipped into her pajama shorts, a simple camisole to serve as her pj top, and her feet into shower flip flops that were so amazingly soft and fuzzy to her to the point it made her happy simple enough. She threw her dirty clothes in the hamper that sat in the bathroom and soon headed back to the dorm room, Scribbler of Dreams almost finished-read (I don't even know if that's a real combination of the words...) in her hand. She walked into the Prefect's common room and found Draco doing her homework. She plopped down on the couch and hugged her knees to her chest, looking at Draco intently.

"Homework..." she said as she looked at the grandfather clock in the room, seeing that she had about an hour left to finish her homework before she'd go to bed. "Sounds like a wise thing to do," she then said as she went into her room and came back out with her homework, plopping back down on the couch. She opened up her Herbology book and began to try and decipher how to finish the problems that the Professor had the class do. "I had three students already ask me for help on their Herbology homework today. I'm thinking Professor Sprout is pushing us a little harder than usual," she said as she put the tip of her quill to her lips, loving the light tickling feeling.

(I loved the movie, of course it was around the 1980s when it was done but I still like the guy david bowie. Either way, THANK YOU for replying lol, the other person still hasn't replied)

Draco watched Hermione get her homework and come back into the room. Instead of asking her for help with herbology, he chose to change the topic to something more interesting. "Hey Hermione, why did you accept my invitation to the dance?" out of all the people she could go with, she said yes to him.

Hermione froze, her quill frozen in her hand, as soon as Draco had asked that question. Her heart was pounding in her ears instantly as her voice caught in her throat for a moment. She always tells the truth...but she couldn't tell Draco she accepted his invitation because she was falling head-over-heels for him. So taking a long moment to choose her words wisely, she avoided eye contact as she said, "I accepted your invitation to the Yule Ball because...I have no reason to decline it. You're a friend of mine, Draco. And as Prefects, it would be a good leadership image for the students. And also, because I like you," Hermione explained as she soon looked up at Draco's reaction. Did she say it wrong? Did she say too much? Did she give it away?

(*hugs* OMG YOU'RE ON!!! No one is on and its a weekend :( ...)

Draco heard what Hermione had said, and within hearing that she liked him, he wondered just how much. "Oh, right, well I was just curious" he wasn't sure how to react, however, the fact that she liked him kind of, as odd as it is to say, gave him butterflies or more like he was happy to hear it. Now it was almost awkward, however, Draco couldn't stop looking at Hermione, so he was able to pull himself away glancing at a problem in Herbology "Do you think you can help me a little on Herbology?"

(Haha -hugs back- I don't do much over the weekend (besides going to the zoo today) so I'll be on on the weekends. Oh, and sorry for the short post!)

Hermione smiled softly and nodded her head. She got up and moved over to Draco to look over his shoulder at what problems he was stuck on. "Alright. So what are you having trouble with?" asked Hermione as she looked over his answers he had written so far. So far, impressive. She had to give him credit for that.

(nah its cool mine will be short too, I am tired and lazy atm with a headache XP)

"Well I can do the essay ones, but, the only ones I'm having trouble with is..." Draco pointed out the question about how to contain something you do not know anything about, however, it could kill you if it attacked you or bit you. The other one was quite more complicated, it was how to plant a rare siren bud, (I just made that up) and without getting trapped in its song for eternity.

(Haha rare Siren Bud. I love it!)

Hermione thought for a moment. And as if she was her old self again, her memory simply recalled what she had read about a few weeks ago when she was going through the Herbology book that Professor Sprout had lent to Hermione. Her eyes lit up and she smiled, excited. "I remember it now! The answer to...the question about something you do not know is that it would simply be tested against Fate. And as for the rare Siren Bud, I remember reading about how if they're planted in drenched wheat soil!" Hermione said as she grabbed her worksheet and immediately began to erase the answers she had guessed and wrote in what she had remembered. "How could I forget that?" she asked herself aloud.

Draco watched Hermione the whole time and laughed some, he really liked seeing her when she smiled or was excited about something. However the past few years since they were little, he had hidden it, and made it seem as if he hated her. "Only 3 days until the dance, you know with this test coming up, no one is going to be able to focus" he thought it was funny, a test before the dance, lots of people would probably fail and yet it wouldn't matter to him. He would pass and knew for sure that Hermione would pass as well.

A few hours went by as they helped each other with their homework and studying that Professor Dumbledore walked into the room after closing the portrait behind him. "I see you two are getting along quite well" Dumbledore spoke with a smile. He had walked in on them actually doing their work together, smiling, and even laughing some as the conversation kept the optimism in the room.

Hermione was laughing at everything that was happening between Hermione and Draco as they helped each other with their homework. But when Dumbledore walked in, Hermione stood to her feet and straightened up. When she heard what she said, her eyes darted to the carpet, her cheeks going red at the thought of her and Draco as a couple for some odd reason. "Professor! I'm surprised to see you!" Hermione said, shocked. What was Professor Dumbledore doing in the Slytherin and Gryffindor Prefect's Common Room? "To what do we owe the occasion?"

Draco looked up putting his books to the side and standing as well. "Is something the matter?" Draco asked curious tone in his voice. "No, no, its quite alright, I wish to tell you that I am glad you two have been doing a miraculous job lately and I do love the idea you both came up with for the dance" Dumbledore spoke "This late at night, that is what you wish to tell us?" Draco asked suspicion in his voice. Dumbledore sighed but kept his smile "I just wanted to ask who you two will be taking to the dance this weekend?"

Hermione let Draco did the speaking since he had more common sense this evening. But when it came down to the final question, Hermione felt panic-y. She quickly looked up and eyed Draco, waiting for him to answer. When he didn't answer, Hermione felt it wise to answer the question herself. She looked back down to the floor. "We...thought it'd be best...if we went together," said Hermione. Taking a moment, she then looked up at Draco.

Dumbledore walked over to Draco and Hermione whom were now standing next to each other thanks to Draco moving closer to her while she spoke the final words to answer him. Taking their hands he placed Draco's hand on Hermione's, covering them both with his "Then all is well, you've chosen wisely. Sleep well, you'll need it" and then he waved bye leaving and closing the portrait leaving Draco and Hermione to stand there letting things to what had happened sink in.

It felt as if Hermione's Time Turner had just went off and stopped all of time. Though that'd be impossible, it was only what it seemed to her. It was as if the burning flames in the fireplace had slowed down to a stop and as if all midnight crickets had decided to stop chirping. Hermione felt the shock of Draco's touch ran through her as her hand was put in her's just as Dumbledore left. She breathed heavily, but slowly as she looked down at their hands. What was she to do? Should she pull away? Should she grasp the chance and lace her fingers with his? Her mind was having such a hard time deciding that she didn't do anything. She just stood there, frozen like a statue.

Draco wasn't sure what this feeling was, it wasn't really awkward, well it was, but, at the same time it wasn't. 'Pansy's hand never felt like this before' Draco thought to himself looking at Hermione, for some reason he couldn't pass this by as his body began to move on its own. Draco's face wasn't shocked, however, it showed more of a gentle yet determined expression. Draco was barely a couple inches away from Hermione's face, as silence filled the room, the light from the fire place keeping its glow, everything seemed to chime in as if magic. (and no Dumbledore isn't doing anything lol) Just then the grandfather clock in the room went off stating it was midnight and making Draco jump out of skin almost.

Hermione was so sure of this. She was so ready to kiss Draco -- to have him as her first kiss. So she closed her eyes and slightly tilted her head up so that it'd be the perfect angle for the perfect first kiss. But reality slapped her in the face when her heart nearly busted from her chest as the grandfather clock went off. Her eyes shot wide open and eyed the clock, suddenly angry with what had just happened, she didn't even notice that she broke the clock...with her mind...? The clock wined down into a sickly clicking and chiming noise until it all stopped.

(Thank you, I missed this look :D) (And yay GO HERMIONE lol)

Draco put his hand over his chest calming himself down. He defiantly let his guard down alot if he was about to kiss Hermione right there. "I think we should go to bed now, we will have to get up and go to class being the first ones there again, maybe even get up in time for breakfast" Draco smiled, was about to walk away, however, he hadn't let go of her hand yet, so he pulled her a bit closer to him, and kissed her on the cheek smiling afterwards. "Night Hermione" Draco said turning to leave.

Everything all happened so fast. "Yeah, you're right," she said and then before she knew it, Draco had leaned in and kissed her cheek. The very contact with him made her skin tingle sensationally. She smiled when he was in his room. She put her hand to her cheek where he kissed and felt butterflies flutter all the way throughout her tummy and chest. She smiled excitedly as she hurried into her room and opened her closet to bring out her dress for the Yule Ball. She hoped to who-knows-what that she would look beautiful enough for Draco. Somehow, she had a feeling that she was going to have a good time at the Yule Ball. She sighed happily and in a satisfied way and got underneath her covers, soon turning out her lights. Before she knew it, she fell asleep with a smile on her face.

Draco didn't dream that night, he was glad about when he would wake up to, he fell asleep instantly, too quickly did the night pass and he woke up getting dressed in under five minutes. That was pretty normal for him, walking outside and into the common room he would wait to meet up with Hermione to walk to breakfast with her.
