Terry Pratchett is a great author, but a lot of his humour is expressed in footnotes, so I'm always skeptical when one of his books becomes a film.

Tonight I watched Going Postal, which was originally a two part mini-series based on the book, but I got it on one DVD, so I'm calling it a film. Anyway... I loved the movie, it was everything a film should be. There was action, suspense, romance, and the odd sprinkling of humour.

But that's the thing. Terry Pratchett writes books I'm afraid to read in public because I can't help but laugh out loud at least once every two pages. It lost that when it became a movie, and that saddens me.

So what do you think, Menewsha? Is it worth losing details like humour for the sake of the story? Or should books be left as they were originally, even if it makes the movie longer?
