I was bored today. Why? Mene was down...:XD So I spent the day doing some things I don't normally do/only do once in awhile, and that included doing a lot of my beauty routines.
I do a LOT of unnecessary necessary things for the sake of beauty. I do facials about once a week, I wax, shave my legs and underarms, I paint my nails, blah blah blah.
What is the price of your beauty, and do you think it's excessive? Both monetarily and just in general. Why, why not?
If you do something "strange" to keep up your appearance (such as coloring your hair, or hair masques, eyebrow threading), why do you do it?

I paint my nails, only if I feel like it. My current paint has basically been washed off but I'm contemplating if I should paint them or not. I shave when I am in the shower and I think that is pretty much it. I barely take care of myself or care. =/

I get more excessive as the years go by. I didn't really want this in the first post, but I'll list all my insanity right here. XD
I...
*Shave
*Wax
*Paint my finger and toenails about once a week
*Pluck my eyebrows
*Facials
*Hair Masques once every two weeks
*Lotion
*Sunscreen
*Mascara, foundation, and eye liner every day
*Get rid of calluses on my feet once every two months
*Summer = occasional fake tan
*Toner for acne
*I do wear contacts on my non-lazy days
*Exercise, namely yoga
Out of all these I think the waxing is the most excessive, but I do it just to please social standards.

I don't understand the point of waxing. I understand it's smooth and etc but I just don't want to do it. It's a hassle and I'm not impressing anyone nor do I want to. =/ You have a lot of things and I'm quite amaze. I didn't know people actually pluck to have their eye brows, perfect. Is it too much if I ask to see a picture of you? .-. I just want to see how all these things worked out. xD

I don't believe there's a such thing as "excessive" when it comes to doing what you can in order to achieve the look you want. I probably don't do as much as I should, myself, but I get depressed easily and kind of "give up" sometimes.
The things I do regularly are just pluck my eyebrows, shave, wash with scrubs for acne (I've had a problem with it since I was twelve), keep my nails trimmed, and comb/style my hair. On the rare occasion that I leave the house, I'll put makeup on--and how much of that I do just depends on my mood and look for the day. I also wear contacts instead of glasses because glasses not only look hideous on me, but they make my face break out even more.
I don't usually do much out of the ordinary, especially not lately. I'd like to do more if I thought I could afford it and get results.

The most I do is tan outside and shave/wax all the things xd
When I was in high school, I use to straighten my hair everyday. Then in college, I did it on the weekends. Now I just do my bangs.
I never like wearing make up, because I guess I was never taught how to. But I do like putting on some eyeliner when I'm around my girl friends so they don't tease me about looking like a 12 year old. Because yeah, they tease me.

o.o
I literally don't do anything.... ^^"
I wash my face and trim my nails and do all the normal stuff (shave, use lotion, etc.)
But I don't like... wax or use make up ever. I think I'm the only 16 year old girl who's NEVER used makeup before XDD
But it might be also cause I get all depressed and give up all the time >.>" .... don't find the point (for several reasons xD)
So for anyone who does a lot of stuff, kudos to you. You must look absolutely gorgeous 0.0

@ChiNoMizuumi: Don't worry, sweetie. I didn't start using eyeliner until I turned nineteen. It's like I tell my friends, Some of us just don't need to wear makeup, we look acceptable without it.

I don't see it as a 'price' because it makes me feel good. I'm incredibly vain and egotistical, so whenever I can look in a mirror and say 'wow I'm beautiful and everyone else knows it too' is a good day. ^.^
Lets see once a week I do a facial, every other day (my hair grows quickly) I shave my legs/underarms, every once and a while I pluck my eyebrows.... umm, when ever my nails look crappy I file/shape/paint them. Every day I at least put on eyeliner, and use a face cleanser, but I usually have eyeliner, shadow, foundation (powder), and a coloured lipgloss or stick or stain. Every two weeks I use a pumice stone to get rid of the callouses on my feet, and every 3 weeks I dye my hair. I hate my natural colour.

ChiNoMizuumi: I haven't use make-up at all and I am nineteen. .-. Is it so bad that you haven't or anyone haven't use make-up before? What's so bad with using or without using it? xD I don't think it really matters. ^^
ElysiumFate: You look absolutely beautiful. Even doing all of those things to make yourself seem pretty. I do like your eyebrows. I've never really done anything with mine. >>; And I've heard my guy friend say they're beautiful. I think you're really pretty. ^^ I don't show picture nor want people to see me because I'm quite self-conscious.

Before I had a baby I did facials, deep conditioning treatments, hair color, tanning, my finger and toe nails, shave, pluck my eye brows, whiten my teeth, put on all my make-up, style my hair and dress my best...
Now days, I'm lucky if I get a shower once a day. Lol but my toe nails are still always painted, I at least wash my face if I won't get a shower until the next morning, I keep up with my eyebrows and shaving, and recently my wonderful neighbor started helping me keep up with my highlights. I don't think it's too much, my feet look funny without polish, my greys show without hair color, and I can't wear jeans or lay in bed if my leg hairs are too long... so I do these things for comfort and confidence. I consider it like anything else, maitnence. Not to mention, I wan't to look good for my husband and continue being the girl he fell in love with, not the frumpy drab girl I was for a couple months post baby haha But he understood and tells me all the time he'd be totally fine if I never shaved or wore make up again.
I only think it's too far for people to do things like this for other people. If it helps you to feel confident and be happier and more comfortable in your own skin, then do it. But don't go getting a nose job to look like Brittney Spears because that's who all the guys think is hot right now...

I'm an over the top girly girl who was born with rich parents... OF COURSE my beauty regime is spoiled!!
I wear the most expensive MAC make up, wax EVERYTHING (yes, even down there), have bottles of the most expensive shampoos, mouses, heat serums, exfoliating bubble baths, mani-pedi every other week, proactiv... oh man, I could keep going.
Natural beauty is a thing of the past. Money can make anyone beautiful! ~_^
The downside is, it takes me exactly an hour to get ready for anything. I don't mind really, but my boyfriend seems to be irritated when I hog up the bathroom.

Only thing I do is colour my hair just because I get bored with the same hair colour. I shave my arm pits most of the time if the hair gets too long because one anyone long pit hair just looks gross. Other than that I really do not see a point in wearing make up, shaving legs, plucking eye brows, or anything else. I don't get overly hairy. I guess if I did then I'd be more likely to shave my legs or something but I honestly don't see why I should have to shave my legs to begin with. O.o;
I do use this natural soap every morning and at night that's made out of milk and honey that's pretty awesome. It keeps zits away so it makes me happy.

@Mystic: Ahh. I wish I had your luck with the unhairy thing. If I ever have money to spare for such things, I'll be getting laser hair removal because my hair is such a pain.
@Kanna: Haha, well, I don't do all that stuff all the time, and I actually don't consider what I do for makeup to be excessive. I use my foundation because it has spf in it, which then doubles as my sunscreen for the day. My eyebrows are naturally like that. I believe I'd only taken a couple hairs out for that picture beforehand. XD
I don't need to make myself seem pretty. I am pretty all the time because of my confidence and love for self. Without that, anyone is ugly.

I shave my legs every other day, just to keep them not looking all hairy. There will be times when I don't shave for a week, mostly because the only time I'd wear anything other then a pair of pants is when I'm at home or at the gym. I do go to the gym not only beauty reasons but because I need to shed the last twenty to twenty-five pounds I gained.
I wear makeup whenever I go out to the mall and stuff, paint my nails and do my hair as well. I really should paint my toenails, since I have this really pretty color....

If anything i wish i was a bit more excessive. I've never worn make up, nor do i care for it, so that part i don't deal with.
I would like to step up my skin care regime in general, as i think that's important.
I shave every two days, when i shower. Sometimes afterwards i'll but some creams on, but other than that, i don't do much.

To be honest, it would depend to what degree you went about these things. I mean I see no problem in the likes of facials or things like that, but it's when people go overboard on beauty routines and cosmetic surgeries and it makes them look worse than before, that is what I see as excessive.
Although the price of a lot of the things that are 'necessary' is mad. I bought a new razor the other day because I was using disposable ones to tide me over but they ruined my legs and the likes, and it came to £10. Although it doesn't sound expensive, when you live on a budget and have to pay for food and travel, it is.
I also dye my hair a lot, as my mum's a hairdresser I don't have to pay, but if I did have to go to a salon to get the things I get done to my hair, I'd be about £140 a pop.
Society ranks beauty highly and both men and women alike (not all of them, but the point stands) will do anything to be seen as pretty in the eyes of others. Even if you don't care what others think, you still try hard to fall into the generic picture of beauty...

On Friday, I put on make up (I very rarely wear it) for my boyfriend as a surprise. He has never seen me wearing make up and I thought it'd be an interesting little shake up. He kissed me and said that I was pretty, but he preferred me without make up. He said he thought I looked more beautiful without it. (my heart definitely melted :P)

I have to admit that I'm really comfortable in my own skin (which is a accomplishment of itself because I have a personality disorder).
When I have a routine, I'll wake up, shower (shaving my legs and pits in the shower), try off, get into my unmentionables, do my make up (foundation, eye shadow, mascara, lip gloss), get dressed and go. I'd decalause my feet once a week (I have tough skin)
Now that I'm on disability and I don't have classes, I shave my legs/pits/all when they bother me (once every 2-4 weeks), I rarely do make up (only on special occasions), I dye my hair once every two months (I don't like my natural dirty blonde hair, I prefer black). I paint my nails rarely, only when the mood strikes me, but even then I mess up on them.
Since I'm on disability, I stretch my make up. I buy my eye liner at the dollar store, but I have to re apply it. I really haven't sprung for new make up for a while, and I think the last thing I bought was foundation. I have to admit, most of my make up is stolen. I used to not care and just steal the make up. Now I'm paying for it because someone who was my friend, kept pressuring me to steal for her, and I just quit all together.

I spend a great deal on make up and I'm starting to spend more and more on nail polish as well. I hate shaving so I'd love a wax but I currently don't have the funds for it. I also need to redye my hair.

The only thing I do besides the usual hygiene stuff is painting my nails... I used to feel weird if I did not have any nail polish on but currently I'm just too lazy to keep my nails neat all the time so often I'd just put on nail polish and when it starts coming off, I'd wash it off and forget to paint my nails again. I have a good collection of nail polish colors though

@Tako -
I'm right there with you on the nail polish thing. I just hate that I never have enough time to keep up with the polish and work often wears down my paint so quickly. I used to train in my cousin's nail shop (so stereotypical asian) and I loved creating little designs all over my nails~
