Hi Cookie.
Laundry can be such a necessary evil.
How are you doing?

Good thanks. Sorry, didn't notice that the page had changed.
Started the laundry. Now I'm eating dinner. My grandparents keep buying bags of edamame and cooking them and then try to eat them whole! They apparently don't bother to pay attention to the part where it says you can't eat the pods. I guess they think they're buying regular pea pods? I don't even know. When I tell them they can't eat the pods cause it's edameme, then they accuse me of buying them. Not me. It's all you guys.

I haven't changed my avatar in several months. In fact, didn't I wear this last year?

It's perfect.
Wouldn't change a thing.
Hi Rad.
I guess no reason to change a good thing.

I don't have many commons, thus making interesting avatars a bit of a challenge.

Wow, stuff always happens when I disappear!
Anyway, they were just trying to eat them, pod and all. I didn't say it was a smart way to go about it!

Reminds me of the time one of the students from the career class telling me how she thought avocados were hard to eat because it took forever to shave the skin off...I was like whaaaat? You don't shave the skin! You cut it in half and then scoop the contents out!
And I've lost track of how many stories I've heard or seen about people eating watermelons/bananas whole, skin and all...

On the up side...I suppose eating the skin is...eh, healthy? Maybe? >__>
I know most people tend to shave the skin off apples before eating, but I could never understand why. (Aside from not wanting to eat the wax on it, I suppose...) I love apples best when skin is attached. The apple skin is also the most nutritious part of the fruit.

I don't believe that avocado skins are edible at all.

Yeah, so at least the student who talked to me said that she shaved it off...but I'm sure what somewhere out there, there would be people who don't know and eat the skin. If people can eat pomegranate, watermelon, grapefruit, and banana skin, then yeah, they'd probably eat the avocado skin too.

Yeah, I have no idea how they actually manage to eat it without the thought of "Maybe I shouldn't eat the skin and should just throw it away" crossing their mind...

I've heard of pickling watermelon rinds to eat, but really people, some things are just not made to be eaten. Like hairy edamame pods. Or hairy kiwi fruit skins. Although, I actually like a little lemon rind every now and then. We have a local place here called Del's Lemonade that serves frozen lemonade and they leave little bits of rind in it, so I've developed a taste for them. As long as they're soft and sweet in my lemonade. :)

I usually dry my lemon peels, then put them in honey with a bit of ginger. Preserve it against the cold months, use it as a tea infusion for sore throat.

You guys all popped up when I was making cake. I was slaving away in the kitchen all night to make a strawberry cake. I think I was finally able to solve the goopy frosting problem too. Yay!
