your kitties are so handsome! (assuming they all boys) i have a soft spot for orange and white ones... Big Kittie's nose stripe cracks me up! he's so cute!!!! *huggles the kitties*

the doggies are cute too!!! Chaucer is so white!! O.O Beautiful!!!

and don't worry, I have a "zoo" as well. we have four cats, three guinea pigs, a 29 gallon fish tank and a 10 gallon fish tank. (if you wanna count the finned friends) those people just don't understand our love for our fur babies! :talk2hand:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
haha looking at your pics again, big kitty looks like he has beard. and little kitty looks like he has a hat on, or a tupee!! i love how cats are marked. my Penny Kat has a "beauty mark" on her face. makes me laugh sometimes.

Thank you, llonka! They are all boys. Emily (the foster) is the only girl aside from me in the house... I think males have better personalities (when it comes to kitties). I, too, love markings on kitties. I saw a cute picture of one that had marking on it that had "I" then a heart, then "u"... sooo adorable! Big Kitty totally has a goatee. He's my handsome love-bug. Do you have any pictures of your kitty's beauty mark? I'd love to see it!

Oh my goodness :-) Her little smudge mark next to her nose is adorable!

All my kitties are more like dogs without the annoying hyper bouncing :-) They sit and beg while you're eating, rubbing on your legs (or if you're on the couch, head-butting your arm while you try to eat), get fed meals (I can't leave food out because my two oldest will gorge themselves then throw it up...fun), and they're so clingy... they follow you all over the house meowing at you for attention. I love it!! I have all three sleeping with me every night curled up against me. I call them my little Kitty-furnaces...lol.

Hahaha... drinking caramel coffee. Can you imagine a cat with caffeine in it? Oy! And I can't even have fake plants in my house either. My idiots will still chew them up and swallow some of the parts... it's actually kind of dangerous because they are just that smart >.<

My kitty furnaces are awesome this time of year and as winter gets going... not so much in the middle of summer when I can't even get a cool breeze to come through the window... The doggies get their own beds, though :-) Chaucer actually has really, really bad hips (level 4 hip dysplasia) and my bed is up high off the ground, so he physically can't get up and down on his own. But he sleeps on his own bed kitty-cornered between the foot of my bed and the wall. He loves it because he can use the wall to support himself when he's sitting up in bed, too. And Miss Emily (the foster) is just too scared of Big Kitty to get on the bed... bahahaha... he is the ruler of this jungle, definitely. So she sleeps on the chaise lounger I have in my livingroom, even though she does have a doggy bed set up in my bedroom, too. Recently (like the last few days) I've been waking up to find my youngest (Haru) curled up with her out there... it's HUGE progress and I'm wicked proud of her for doing so much better with the kitties.

that's great because it gives Emily more options for people with kitties too that they can adopt her.
i have always wanted to be a foster parent for an animal needing help finding their owners.
but i am just too scared i would be too attached to give them up in the end.
how do you handle that?

I'm not sure yet... Emily is my first foster. I've had her for about a month now (a little over I think). I think my practicality and ability to not become an animal hoarder is what keeps me from getting too upset thinking about her leaving to go to her perfect home (I know I'm not that perfect home for her). I love her, yes, but she is way too energetic and puppy-ish for me to handle long-term, being a single, lazy person living by myself with a full-time and part-time job and already having three cats and a dog of my own. Two dogs can be draining *spins dizzily*... She would be in Heaven in a family with kids that love to bounce all over her and maybe another young-ish or energetic doggy that will play with her (My old man doggy just grouches at her if she starts playing with him too much, granted she can get a little rough with him, hopping on his bad hips or biting at his back legs... naughty girl).
I think the great thing about fostering, though, is if the dog you're fostering is absolutely a PERFECT fit for your home and lifestyle and you feel you could reasonably take on another dog, you CAN adopt it... I think once Chaucer passes on, I'll just keep fostering doggies until I find my next really good fit and adopt him from the rescue I work with :-)

i think i need to look into fostering.
it makes me so sad to see how disposable people think animals are.
i think that is a good way to look at fostering the doggies.
finding a 'perfect' home for them is really important and they deserve to find that one perfect home.
like my yuki, she is a perfect fit for me now.
she wasn't in the beginning but she is now that she has her 'owner' trained!

we thought about fostering, but we have too many already. hubby would end up wanting to keep it.

Yeah, so far I would say fostering has been a great experience! I may not take in another one after Emily finds her home until after Winter is over, though. If I think I'm lazy now, Winter is ten-times worse. I HATE leaving the house when it gets cold, and taking two doggies for walks at separate times (Emily isn't completely leash trained yet and it's too dangerous to have her walking on the road with me without my full attention) twice a day will be torture for me.

Mmmm... cookies... I'm really craving pumpkin chocolate chip cookies at this very moment. This is why I should not stay up late. I begin to crave snacky, junk-foods.

On a side note, I just took the dogs out again to make sure everyone peed... I really don't want to wake up to any accidents... and fell on my ass >.< The best part of this is that I've been doing some construction around my house, digging around the foundation and refilling it after installing a better drainage system, so my house is surrounded by dirt... and it's raining. So yeah, muddy me=extremely unhappy me.

oh no!! are you ok??

so we've ended up having to lock Daisy in the bathroom last night. she's getting worse. she lays somewhere and potties where she is laying. :( so she's messed up the boys' bed and ours. tried giving her yougurt thinking that would help. if not hubby will take her to the vet on Saturday. :P
