Hubby is like that also. Right now we have seven indoor cats, probably 15-20 outdoor that come and go, a Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix puppy, a red ear slider turtle, and multiple fish tanks. Plus he feeds the outdoor birds and squirrels. xP

My grandfather was like that before he died. So. Many. Cats. His wife stopped feeding the outdoor cats when he started getting too difficult to deal with on her own. I'm so glad she did, because it was just too much for her. She still has four indoor cats (she put one down, but Indie was 19 and getting sick). But four is still just far too many for her. Also, technically four is the legal limit of dogs or cats per house in this city.

The most we've ever had at the same time was two dogs, a cat, and a snake. But Lukas the corn snake is now somewhere else, so we're down to two dogs and a cat. And that's pretty much the most I can manage.

My sister isn't fond of them either. But she liked Lukas. It had a lot to with the fact that 1) he was a teeny tiny baby when I got him and was completely non threatening and 2) he was generally happy to be around people.

Sounds like a nice snaky. Maybe it's the poisonous ones that ruin it for the others.

He was very nice. I think in general, people dislike things without legs or fins. Somehow appendages make things less scary.

True. I think for me, it's the threat of rattle snakes anytime to go to the "wilderness" so I'm leery of all snakes. Probably another irrational fear my dad has put onto me.

Well, depending on where you live, rattlesnakes could be prevalent, but the nice thing about rattlesnakes is they come with a built in warning. Also, heavy boots and long thick pants go a long way toward preventing bites.
And rattlesnake bites are painful, but generally not deadly unless you're very small, very frail, allergic, or choose not to get any medical attention.
But I have very little fear of most animals. Which is not normal. For me, understanding how animals work goes a long way toward warding off most fear.

We do have rattlers around here. We were told they killed 35 at the local lake.
