I'd take in every animal if I could. I kind of have. I'm so not a reptile person.. but I had to keep scythed when my brother ws telling me he was tired of his room smelling like lizard and was going to throw him outside. >.<

and houdini was a bunny that someone got an an easter present and then the parents realized that bunnies are a lot more work than a tiny hamster. SO... we rescued him too.

if I got one it would be the first pet I got that my girlfriend didnt bring into the house. shes adopted birds, cats, mice a couple of times and a family of hamsters

I keep teasing shaun about living in a home filled with rescued animals. thing is I might end up being only partly joking >.> I seem to not be able to help it when the chance comes along to take in something fuzzy.

you can only do what your able to. if I didnt say no we would easily have 10 cats by now. I like cats and all but we can only take on so much

Late to the convo, but hummy: I hope you do your research on dog breeds before adopting outright. There are dogs that need a lot of activity, so if you're not the active type (as in, you don't like to/don't have time to go for two walks on a daily basis), get one that doesn't need to get rid of a lot of energy. If you don't like to/don't have time to groom a lot, a short-haired breed might be better. Also take into account the amount of space you live in. Even small dogs like the Yorkshire terriers need a lot of space to run around in, so if you live in an apartment, a yorkie might not be the best.

Thinking about what dogs you might like, do your research first.
If you go to a shelter, ask about things like that before you decide to go with it.

yeah, that's why i was asking what everyone's opinion was.
i love westies but they need so much activity.
i thought about a boarder collie too, but again kind of very active.
i'm going to see what they have in the weekend papers this weekend too.
plus i have two kitties so i have to keep that in mind.
that's another reason why i think i'd like to adopt a rescue animal.
they usually do all the socializing test thingies and will let you know if they can get along with two kitties.

well, I have had a few dogs in my past that didn't like kitties ... but after a week they would learn to tolerate my kitties and another week until they loved them. :yes:
