I have read that touching the baby does not make the mama bird not want to take it back. birds have poor senses of smell and it's the maternal instinct that makes them take care of their babies, even the babies of another bird.

the only question would be, did it fall out, or was it sick and shoved out.

it wasn't a baby that I can tell it had injured its wing somehow and was just grounded there :( and it was still there when I got out of class and still alive.

you should have taken it to a vet. they would have known what to do with it. but it's hard to think of that in the moment. I'm sure things turned out ok for it.

because its a protected bird you're not supposed to touch them. :( which is why they told me not to touch the bird. I'm not sure anyone else saw him. its a big campus. I only noticed him because I have a massive break between classes and was hanging out by a shady tree. I had hoped the birdy would be gone when i got out too.

well then darn skippy don't pick it up! I wonder if you called a vet would they know what to do ... probably have to get in touch with some sort of wildlife ranger or something complicated like that.
