All right, so I am a writer (amateur at best seeing as how I have yet to finish anything). Obviously a writer needs inspiration, right? Well, music happens to be my inspiration most of the time. Of course, there are only a few songs that really get to me, and it all depends on the mood of the writing. Anyway, what songs inspire you? What do they inspire in you? Do you have any special memories tied to any specific song?
Right now, anything by Plumb gives me an instant muse to write. It's a shame few have heard of her, she is really quite good. I think Damaged by her is the one that gets me the best.
Buckcherry's Crazy Bitch is another for me. It's kind of silly since I don't write anything around sex, but I guess it's the upbeatness of the song that helps me.
As far as memories go, Pink's Lonely Girl holds the biggest one for me. It reminds me of when I was younger and not quite so happy. I cry every time I hear it :(

My top 3 favorite bands of all-time are so inspirational to me. :)
B2ST/Beast (Korean boy-band), Hollywood Undead(hip-hop), and Panic!AtTheDisco(rock/alternative).
Beast inspires well, the emotions of happiness and love, they're always having fun and are SO silly!
Their music's really lovey-dovey, but it's great to me. I love their dancing, as well! I always feel happy
and bubbly and excited when I listen to them.
Hollywood Undead I can connect with, the songs about having fun with life, or when life makes you feel
fucked up... I used to despise HU with a passion, now I'm a major Undead Soldier! haha. :) They certainly
do have songs worth looking at, definitely. Even their new album is great, to me I don't mind the change,
if I ever miss their older style, I will go ahead and listen to those songs, then! Their music helps me feel
non-chalant-like and basically help me raise my self-confidence, self-respect, and self-worth! xD
Oh Panic... I've had good times with their music, really. :) They inspire so much from me, I'm always
getting different emotions from their music.. I can get from morbid to vibrant emotions from their songs!
Now, I have one song that I have ALWAYS called my "life song" and that is Avril Lavigne's "Nobody's Home". Since I was young, I've had a connection to this song. I've felt unwanted, unloved, like nobody cared or understood me. This song just has seriously spoken to me, I hold it very close and dear. However now, I feel loved, I feel wanted, I know that someone cares and that someone's trying to understand me. Really, it's thanks to my friends and my amazing new boyfriend.
A few songs I used to cry over are The Tide by The Spill Canvas, Concrete Angel by Martina McBride, and Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll and a couple of others.

Oh, yay! A reply!! I actually don't like Hollywood Undead, their stuff just isn't for me. That Avril song is amazing. I love all of her albums. Just got her new one recently. It's great :D

Haha! Yes a reppllyy! :)
Yeah, I've always loved her since I was a kid. x) Same with Kelly Clarkson, bah~.
Ah, that's understandable. I know very few people who enjoy hip-hop and Korean
music, and that's what I've been listening to the most as of late... x'D
Ah, I heard a few songs from it. She's getting more into the popular scene, it seems,
but her work's still pretty good. c':
I'll have to check out the rest soon!
Oh and just wanted to say, I LOVE YOUR AVATAR. <3

sure. That's neat, though. Can explain why I enjoyed both singers so much! Hah. :)

Avril was the first music artist I decided I liked. Everything before that point in my life my grandmother decided for me. It was a big step. I have all her albums :D I have most of Kelly Clarkson's, but not her newest one which makes me sad :( The most recent one of hers I have is My December. That album was AMAZING.

Huh, that's cool. It's rare when I like instrumental music. Apocalytipca does it amazingly, though. Of course, I prefer the stuff they do with other music artists. Like I Don't Care with the guy from Three Days Grace, or Broken Pieces with Lacy Sturm from Flyleaf. That video was trippy, though.

Anything by Nightwish, really.
I don't write many stories these days, but they were really what provided much of the inspiration for me to begin songwriting in the first place (which then led to poetry as well). I suppose a lot of what I write has a similar feel to it as a result, but it was through listening to their music and gaining such an admiration for Tuomas's lyrics that I learned much of what I know now.
I did actually consider writing a story based on their song "The Poet and the Pendulum" once, though. I haven't worked on it in years, but I suppose the idea is still kind of at the back of my mind. I don't know that I could really do justice to it, though.

I remember Nightwish was a big step for me to take whilst finding music I enjoyed.
:) Their music was mind blowing, and totally different than what I usually listened to,
however I only like a few songs, heh! >A<;;
I only like Canon Rock and Lindsay Stirling's music for classical, it's hard for me to enjoy
classical, heh. >u<;;
Yay more replies, and songs! :)
Well I currently have no albums whatsoever, considering I keep it all on my phone
and computer! x'D So yeah, I haven't listened to much of Kelly's new stuff, sadly. :'3
Ahh, really? >_< My family has never really decided anything for me except trying to
decide my religion and sexuality for me. o.o;; Music taste can be alike or waaayy different
depending on mood! :D

Yeah, my grandma was super controlling when I was little. Luckily, I'm an adult now, and can do as I please. That's too bad on the religion and sexuality part. My grandma disowned me when I told her I didn't believe in her God. I have yet to discuss the sexuality part with her, because I mean, straight people don't 'come out' as straight, so why should I have to do it?
But back to the music, Recently I've been listening to a lot of Keith Urban. He keeps me super inspired during my writing. That's too bad you don't have albums, but a lot of people today don't. I still buy CDs even though I can get the music online.

Bah, my parents say I'm confused and going through the rebellious stage.
:'u
Yeah, I used to have tons, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Bowling for Soup,
Jimmy eats world and so many others... x'D Keith Urban... I only listen to his
stuff when I'm with my cousin and uncle! O: Definitely some great music, there! :) I guess music
that really inspires my writing is all kinds, simply because it depends (mostly) on the
theme of my writing! Other times, I've done those fun quizzes where I wrote whatever
the song made me think of. :'D Which, I love those.. I might try that out again, it's great to help
keep your wonderful writing flowing! (Or any other form of art!)

The quizzes? You mean like those "put your Ipod on shuffle and answer these questions" kind of quizzes?

I seem to be answering this question a lot lately in different places. Nothing bad about that though. XD
While I'm working on my concept tracks, I listen to the type of music that mainly it's going to be (90s Grunge/Alt. mostly.)
Other than that, a lot of times I get inspiration from what I listen to so I tend to listen to whatever's relavent from the subject. Sometimes I get an idea while listening to music, and start typing during that. However, sometimes that can be rather.... distracting. When I want to get away from distractions though, I tend to either work in silence or by using a program called OmmWriter which has it's own ambient music/sounds built in.

Um, not exactly? It's where you put your iPod on shuffle and you write a story
as the song plays, you write from beginning of song, to end and then you repeat
the process however many times you want! O: Or instead of writing, you can do it
by drawing, etc. :)
Project;;
;x You're choice to answer the question, after all~. :)
That's neat, I rarely find music distracting except for when it comes to sleep,
I guess. o: OmmWriter sounds neat, but meh. owo It's always nice to be inspired
by a song and then instantly want to write it down~.

Like, you write a story based on the way the song makes you feel like writing? That sounds pretty neat. I might try that some time. I have recently found myself busy with roleplaying, though. I have finally found the perfect balance.
@Project: It has its own songs? Like what? Instrumental?

When I want to zone out and write, I use instrumental music because anything with lyrics will distract me far too much, namely because most of the time I'm trying to write lyrics of my own. I use Scale the Summit and An Endless Sporadic a lot.

It's like, sounds and instrumentals that set an ambient background to put you in a relaxing mood. There's also sounds whenever you type. It's meant to keep you focused on your writing.

Whoops, didn't see this. It's a computer app, first for mac, then they made Windows. iPad was I think the latest. There's a demo at the "try" button.
