Gem nodded but somehow she didn’t believe him, after what he had seen her doing last night how could he even look at her without imagining what happened last night. ”I love you too Gaara” turning her back on him she grabbed her clothes the towel drooped to show her bruised back but it was covered once more as she shrugged on her shirt, the shirt was long enough to reach mid thigh so she didn’t bother with shorts considering she planned on going back to bed. It was morning yes but she wasn’t really in the mood for anything other than resting. ”I’m sorry about Kumai guess I have to learn to control my demon” gathering up her dirty clothes she turned towards him a small smile on her face. ”I won’t let her do that again Gaara, she made me feel disgusting and I don’t want that to happen again” she shuddered even though she hadn’t been in control last night she still felt it, it was an invasion.

Gaara smiled back at her and picked her up. He laid her on the bed and laid next to her. "I will love you no matter what. I'll help you learn to control Kumui. I had to control Shakaka when I was younger and he was evil. It's hard, but possible. He remebered how he had controlled Shakaka. It had been such a difficult task and had driven him crazy with anger. He hoped she could learn quicker than he had. She seemed to be a smart girl. He was sure his love could do it.

It didn’t seem possible, could controlling Kumai really be as easy as Gaara made it sound somehow she didn’t think so and the indignant sound Kumai made confirmed what she thought. ”I hope you can give me some helpful tips, but Gaara what if she makes me sleep with another man again” reaching out for him she pulled him close suddenly afraid of losing him. The thought made her sick to her stomach, she had to blink quickly so he couldn’t see the tears that shown in her eyes. Instead she buried her face against his chest, things just never seemed to go right for them and she couldn’t get over the feeling that something, anything was going to come along and pop the bubble of happiness they had constructed around themselves for this moment. ”I love you Gaara, thank you for forgiving me, and I’m so sorry. You should never have to deal with any of this”

"Hey." Gaara tilted her face so she was forced to stare into his eyes. "None of this is your fault. I love you and will never stop. Nothing can come between us. If she makes you sleep with another man then fine. It's her fault, not yours." he gently kissed her, showing all of his love as he deepened it. He suddenly ended it and whispered. "See. Everything will be fine."

Somehow she doubted it she didn’t say anything ”Okay Gaara I believe you” she said more to appease him than anything else. Kumai was bored and made herself known by humming a tune in Gem’s head that drowned out every other thought. It was hard to think over the sound of her annoying humming ”Will you shut up” she snapped rubbing her forehead a headache beginning to form. ”Fine just wanted to remind you I was here is all” Kumai ceased humming but the damage was done Gem’s head already hurt. ”Sorry Kumai was being obnoxious” she couldn’t sit still and even though her body protested the movement by sending a spark of pain through her she still got up and started pacing the room. ”How did you learn to be strong enough to fight back your demon?”

"I had a sensei who taught me. He himself had taught many jirochi even before me. He knew weaknesses of demons and things that helped control them. He also knew how to make them happy. My demon loves penut butter. I hat it, but Shakaka can't get enough of that nasty crap. I eat penut butter and jelly sandwiches, and he's the happiest little demon in the world. You have to fond a thing that they like to treat them to when they behave." he sweatdropped. "For Kumui, I'd say it'd be achol."

Gem made a face refusing to acknowledge the truth of the statement while inside Kumai called out her agreement. She hated alcohol, hated the taste, hated the smell, and hated what it did to your body. It made even the smartest of people act like a fool. But Gaara did have a point, it was a way to control her new demon, or at least reward the stupid thing if she did behave. ”I am not a stupid thing, and I’m not some dog you can train, though if you did want to imbibe a little I can’t say no” Kumai’s smug grin flashed through Gem’s mind making her grimace. Gaara ate something he hated for his demon, but it wasn’t like peanut butter and jelly could make a person drunk. ”I guess you’re right maybe I should get a teacher, someone to show me the ropes” she cast a sly look at Gaara who still lay lounged on the bed watching her. ”And I think I’ve found just the man to help” Gem winked at him suddenly feeling a touch better, at least she was trying to do something about this new change instead of waiting around for Kumai to take back over.

Gaara was eating a penut butter and jelly sandwich as they were speaking. "Yeah..demons can be such a pain sometimes." He was so annoyed with Shakaka for making him eat this flith. It was making him want to go insane with disust.

Gem gave a small jerky nod, Kumai was flashing her mental pictures of the guard that had just passed the room, it showed him and Gemma doing some very inappropriate things. ”Pig” she muttered under her breath pushing the images aside. Had Shakaka ever been like this for Gaara or was her demon just a sex addict. ”Gaara, I have to head back to my village soon, a peace treaty should be met within the next day or two, when it’s met I have to go back, there are some things I need to take care of” and it might be best to get Kumai away from temptation

Gaafa tried to talk through a mouth full of sandwich. "Can I come?" he swallowed the bite of sandwich. "I have nothing better to do and Kankuro can take my place for a little while ya know?" he didn't want to be away from her at all and hoped shed let him tag along. She meant the world to him and he had no idea how they'd be together if they lived in separate villages. He couldn't leave his job as kage of Suna.

Gem turned to look at him ”Gaara, I would love to have you with me, show you the place where I grew up. Have you meet my wonderful people, I’m sure they would love you…. Gaara what are we going to do? I’m kage of the lion clan and you’re kage of the sand people. We come from different villages and one day soon we will have to return to them.” she refused to look at him as she said this, it was a sad thought and she didn’t want to face it but the truth of the matter was that they would have to separate one day soon.

The treaty meeting ended tomorrow and he knew that meant no more Gemma. He was pretty sure things were now never goin to work out for them. She was the kage of another village and they both seemed to almost die around each other. He looked at her with the saddest look in his eyes. "We have to end this now. It should have never started and we both know that. He was about to cry and couldn't hold up much longer. "I have to go now." he said quietly and went back to his hotel room. He locked himself in the room and let tears stream down his face. He wished he'd never allowed this to happenz

”Gaara…” she whispered, she heard the sound of the door closing and couldn’t turn around, pain wormed it’s way into her gut and tears stung her eyes. ”Well that’s love for you isn’t it Gem, he’s ready to drop you like a sack of potatoes” Kumai’s voice rang with a touch of truth, he really had just left, without even trying like she wasn’t even worth it. Well she might as well let him know how much she loved him before she left, she knew she wouldn’t be able to stick around for another day, not with this air of hopelessness surrounding the young couples. ”Gaara..” she called through his hotel door. He didn’t answer her ”Gaara I love you….more than anyone else I love you…I don’t really care how hard it is I’m willing to try but you aren’t. Maybe it’s best this way I don’t know but by the time you wake up tomorrow morning I will be gone, I just thought you should know that”

Gaara tried to talk to her, but it was clear that he was crying. "Gemma...it won't work. It won't! No matter if you belive it or not, the chances of us being together are like..I don't even know, but we can't just quit being kage. We'll be nearly a thousand miles apart. That's not going to work. If you want to live in the fantasy that it's possible then fine, but I'm a realist. Love is not meant for me. It always slips through my fingers right when I think it's near. I promised I would never give my heart away. I promised myself and now I've broken my promise. I gave my heart to you. It will always be yours, but I would be so much happier if you would find another man. Choose one from your village. One that can be with you and male you happy and won't die." he felt hot tears run down his face at a faster pace than before. He had listened to her. She would be gone in the morning and then it would be over. He wanted to be emotionless and not give a damn, but he cared way to much. He opened the door just enough so he could see her, but she couldn't see his red eyed, tear streaked face. He looked horrible and felt just as bad. He stared, memorizing every detail of her so he could draw a picture and keep her memorie forever. He would leave her his heart and love no more.

She knew that every single word he spoke was true but that didn’t stop the icy hot stab of pain that rolled through her, she choked back a sob refusing to give into the tears that threatened, she knew if she did then she may never stop crying and she had to be stronger then that she had a clan to look after and even if she was hurting inside she would do her best by them. ”You’re right my love, we can’t live in a fantasy we have to face the cold reality of the matter, I’m a kage of the lion clan of the plains and your kage of the sand in the desert we won’t be able to see each other except for rarely. That’s no way to live…. It’s not like either one of us are about to give up our leadership, we care about our people far too much” she made no promises, her heart was breaking and using a force of will she didn’t know she had she shuttered it away. He wasn’t even going to let her in the room for one last look at him ”goodbye Gaara” her face was a mask of blankness as she turned away but it crumbled when she got into her room. Hard wracking sobs tore through her, how could anything hurt this much?

Gaara closed the door as she left. He sat in the dark smack dab in the middle of the floor and allowed himself to go to peices. He hated his life and hated being kage. He hated that he had fallen in love and that he could not have that love. He was devastated

A very handsome demon man poofed into Gemma's room and stared at her. He couldn't help but feel pity as she seemed so upset. "Hi Gemma.." he said quietly and tried his best to smile. He looked to be around 14 years old and had blood for tears as he cried with Gemma. Her sadness had made him upset as well. He finally stated his reason for being here. "I am Cho..a demon that just happens to be the little brother of Kumui. I have come to help you. I see your pain and wish to do something to make everything happy." He pulled out a scroll with two pictures on it. One of a girl that looked like a 15 year old version of Gemma, and one that looked like a 16 year old version of Gaara. It was not permitted for kids of those ages to be kages and other people would be found to take the job. The demon child didn't ask Whay she thought and they were both changed. Gaara was sitting in a field back on Suna filled with poppys as red as his hair. He seemed not to care about anyone or anything. He had a blank expression. Gemma had been chased to Suna by ninja from her village. Her demon, Kumui, had been replaced with the boy. Gaara had no memory of Gemma and his siblings were the age they'd been last time Gemma had seen them. The boy left Gemma's memories. He spoke to her. "You have a new chance. You have no responsiblity. You're both children. Kankuro has taken the role of sand kage and Ash is kage of the lion clan. You are free to try and make him fall in love with you all over agian, but you can't tell him what has happened." the demon hoped this new chance would be good.

Gemma spied Gaara across the field blending in perfectly with the poppies, her heart speed up just watching him, this last month had brought such changes to everyone including her. Except for one thing, she was the only one that remembered any of this. Her father had left the clan to his second in command, Kankuro was now Kage of the sand people. It was amazing the changes her new demon Cho had brought and how very close they had become. He was the exact opposite of his sister Kumai and honestly Gemma was glad to be rid of her. Even as she watched Gaara she had a flash back to the day they had changed.

”Wait you can fix everything?” she asked him stark disbelief in her voice, but instead of reassuring her he merely showed her, in an instant she felt herself change becoming younger, smaller, thinner, her body became what it had been when she was a fifteen year old girl just growing into womanhood. She should have been outraged but all she felt was relief things could change she and Gaara could be together. Somehow she had found herself back in her home village and was immediately was sent on a mission. Which had brought her to a month long chase running away from an outraged blood clan that wanted her dead because she had killed one of their members, for good reason that person had killed her father she wanted revenge. But now she was stuck running away from them.

Which brought her to this moment, looking down at the young man whose very presence made her heart constrict and the worst part was he didn’t know who she was at all. Didn’t know that he had been the only man to ever have her though that had changed when she was made into a fifteen year old version of herself, stepping carefully through the poppies so as not to step on a single flower she made her way over to him. Stooping she plucked a flower and put it in her hair where it made a striking contrast against her short blonde hair. ”Hello” she said shyly.

Cho frowned as he had to explain why things had to be this way. "I have rules. As a demon, I can't just grant wishes. I have to leave hardships for you to overcome. You have to earn happiness. It's the rule of demons..I'm very sorry.." Gaara had only looked at her with a horrible cold gaze that suggested he wanted her dead. "Who are you and what do you want." his voice was calm and held no emotion. His body was much less developed than older Gaara. He was skinnier and a lot shorter. His hair was shorter and spikier. His eyes were blank and held no warmth. Cho figured he'd have to explain. This is how Gaara was as a boy. He was cold and unloving. He had a hard shell, but a soft, gooey inside if you cam manage to earn his affection." later Cho would explain more of Gaara's personality and past, but for now she needed to try her best to get him to act at least a bit friendly. It was a hard task that required patience.

Makes him sound like a piece of chocolate she thought, she could hear Cho’s soft chuckle in her head. I know you’ve already done so much for me, for us now it’s up to me… But how I miss who Gaara used to be. The soft look of tenderness in his eyes when he looked at me, the way he held me as if never wanted to let me go, the very words I love you that always had the effect of making me feel warm and fuzzy all over like I was wrapped in some warm blanket. I miss that so much. Now it’s like he hates even the sight of me tears threatened to fill her large green eyes but she blinked them back. ”My name is Gemma, it’s really nice to meet you” she took a seat beside him, she wasn’t sure if he was going to scoot away from her or just run away either seemed like an option. Her heart constricted at the cold look in his eyes. ”I’m Gemma of the Lion clan” she offered trying to coax something out of him. ”This won’t be easy for you Gem but if you truly love him as much as I think you do then you must be patient with him” she nodded silently. Does Shakaka remember anything? she asked Cho suddenly, after awhile of having a demon she had perfected speaking to him in her mind.

Gaara moved away from her a bit. "I like personal space thank you." he really was rude. He offered her his name only because she had given hers. "I am Sabuku No Gaara. Demon of the hidden sand. Lord of death and saint of hell. I am the monster know as Shakaka. It means I'm a racoon beast so fuck off and run away screaming already." he growled at her. She was annoying and he didn't particularly feel like killing her at the moment. He would if he had to though and he hoped she was afriad enough to leave him alone. She was obnoxious and looked like a lovesick fool. He was tempted to tell her he wanted her to go away, but then his sister came running to him. She was only about 14 and Cho gasped at his mistake. He was a young demon an he wasn't a master at magic yet. Temari smiled at Gaara and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. She seemed to..be in love with him? Cho was now concerned. Why had Temari fallen for her brother? Temari looked over Gemma and snarled in disgust. "Gaara-san..who is this...girl." she spat the last word like it was poison on her tounge. "She is Gemma of the lion clan. I just met her.." Temari gave Gemma a look that said touch my man and I will fucking kill you. She kissed Gaara's lips very softly and he didn't look at all suprized. He just sighed when she stopped kissing him. "How many times do I have to tell you! You-are-my-sister-we-are-nothing-more." he said it slowly and she frowned. "But love can be between anyone! Even siblings." h looked highly annoyed, but wouldn't kill his own sister. "Whatever.." he wrenched out of her grasp and sat back down. She sat beside him. Cho finally awnsered Gemma's question. "Yes, Shakaka knows all of this and rembers, but he can do nothing to influnce GaaraZ it is his own choice to be with you...or not."

I know I know, it’s just it would be nice to talk to Shakaka and find out what he thinks about this it was hard to keep the love she felt for him off her face but somehow she managed to keep both the love and the hurt off, it would only scare him off if he thought she was like some crazy fan girl or something. Her eyes widened as a fourteen year old Temari ran across the field making a beeline right for Gaara, she threw her thin arms around his neck and cuddled against him. It didn’t look right, they were close, too close something was wrong here. The way Temari looked at him it was like she was in love with him. Cho? she asked her shocked demon, Cho! Temari is kissing him, what the hell did you do?! her outrage didn’t show on the outside only a hint of disgust. This was so not right. ”I don’t know, I’m still new to magic, I didn’t mean to make her so young”, ”So uh this is your sister?” she asked at a loss as to what to say. Now I really need to talk to Shakaka how can I get him to talk to me?

Temari spoke for him. "Yes! He is my brother! Got a problem bitch?!" she huffed and pulled Gaara to her in a possessive way that suggested she thought they were going out. She sucked on his neck lightly, causing him to let out a small grunt, but otherwise no reaction. He crossed his arms. He was a bit confused by Gemma. She seemed to be jelous of Temari..or maybe even sad. Did she think he was someone else? He was sure he'd never seen her before in his life, yet she acted like he was an old friend. He could read her like a book. A mist began to rise around Gaara and Temari and the two began to drift into a deep sleep. This made Shakaka free and able to speak without Gaara hearing at all. He had trapped the boy in his own body. He couldn't hear or see or anything. It was like he didn't exist. Cho sighed and told Gemma to speak. "He can now talk to you..." Cho said softly and Shakaka/Gaara smiled at her. "Hello Gemma. You need to speak with me?" he sounded so kind and it was Gaara's voice coming from hos mouth so that strangers didn't find it odd to hear Gaara talk like a man. Shakaka hoped that she would ignore the voice and speak.

”It’s just that’s really inappropriate is all, he’s you’re brother…” Gemma dropped her gaze to avoid looking at them, and so he wouldn’t see the look of jealousy and hurt on her face something that was bound to confuse him and might even make him think she was crazy or something. But she hated the sight of Temari with her thin arms wrapped around him sucking on his neck and leaving a mark, it was wrong and Gemma wished it were her instead. A thick mist surrounded them that made Temari and Gaara drowsy but had no effect on Gem herself she could only guess it was Cho’s doing that somehow he had put them to sleep. Thanks Cho she thought she had no doubt the person she was speaking to now wasn’t Gaara but Shakaka ”you’re welcome Gem”.
”It’s been awhile hasn’t it Shakaka, I actually have a few questions, obviously you know everything that has happened right? I’m not the Kage of the Lion clan anymore in fact I’m actually being chased right now by some assassin out to get me for killing their father, who incidentally killed my father… But I just need to know what the hell is going on, why is Temari acting like she’s in love with her brother… my Gaara… he doesn’t remember me which isn’t surprising but what really hurts is that he doesn’t feel anything for me but annoyance and hate.” she shrugged plastering a small smile on her face, using it as a cover up for her hurt. ”Care to explain?”

Shakaka sighed. "Poor dear...The Gaara you knew at the time that you did was a different person than he was when he was a boy. He was filled with hurt and hate. You see the kanji on his forehead? It's not a birthmark. He carved it into his skin with his own sand when his uncle tried to kill him. He was asked to please die and that he could only be loved by himself and no other. His uncle had pretended to love him until he was six years old. Then he tried to murder the lad. It was his father's request that he be killed. That made it worse. As for Temari...well...she pretty much is in love with Gaara. She's been acting like this a lot. I'm not sure why she likes him so much." Shakaka thought for a moment. "You remember how she always took care of him before? I've been thinking, and I think she was in love with him even then. Now she's much closer to his age than she was before and it seems to have made things worse."

”It isn’t right for her to feel that way… Gaara is her brother it’s wrong isn’t it? I mean yes love can come in all shapes and forms but between a brother and a sister? I like Temari I don’t want to see her get hurt… even if she’s going to hate my guts because I will have Gaara back I will show him I love him as I never got to before. Maybe just maybe he’ll come to love me as well. I’ll just hang around the village “hiding out” and hope that the assassin doesn’t find me” Gem shrugged her heart heavy, poor Gaara, she had never know this, how could his uncle do that to him? Family was supposed to love each other, watch out and take care of each other not betray someone so deeply that he would carve a symbol into his skin and shut out the entire world. ”My poor Gaara, he needs love and lets Temari give it to him because it feels like she is the only one that will” Gem reached out and touched Shakaka’s/Gaara’s cheek lightly, this was the closest she would be allowed if Gaara were conscious he would probably kill her or move either or. ”Sorry Shakaka I’ve just missed him a lot” she said dropping her hand away from his cheek.
