Ours were replaced not too long ago as well; rumor was that there were still wood ones down there.

Try boiling your water the day before. It kills almost every germ and tends to purify the taste. I would suggest if possible, using a metal lined kettle, however, as the plastic ones do leave a strange taste.

Oh, how strange! I didn't even know there were plastic kettles; I'd have thought that they would melt with even the slightest heat. Warp, if nothing else.

Our electrical kettle is plastic, and we have a huge plastic urn too. They work really well, but leave a strange taste afterwards if anything under three years old. They're made of a heat resistant plastic and such.

Yep... I can taste some weird 'plastic' taste if the water had been in a plastic jug for a looooooong time. DX

Ours is old enough and emptied often enough that the flavour is gone. *shrugs* We're lucky that way.

I sometimes feels like even the metal kettle have some weird plastic taste/smell. DX

It really depends on the person's palate, the individual kettle, and the source of water.

A lot of things effect the flavour, sometimes you can manage to make it reasonable, but sometimes not. It's really pot luck.

My mom blame it to the old pipes... x.x

My local water has arsenic in it, from a local company. So I only buy spring water.

They ARE doing something....but the process takes time.

They are forcing the company to tear up all the yards in the neighborhood and replacing the dirt to a certain point, I'm not sure whats being done about the water.

They haven't mentioned that its necessarily in the water.....but if its in the ground next to the water....its in the water too.

Then you cannot bathe too? DX

Its low levels, they say it wont harm us. I don't trust it though. I shower at work.

My family is taking the same precautions as myself.....my neighbors could die from it and I wouldn't be THAT sad.
