Yeah. He's my oldest character, and my most developed. You could say he's another me, in a sense.

He has all my feelings of isolation and self loathing, if that's what you mean. A pretty big chunk of it.
I have a pretty wide range of characters, but dark colours are easier to 'mass' than lighter ones.

Well, I still better post a summary, because... lol. I have 100k words typed up for Nanowrimo. and not even finish... -__-;;
Let me see...
It is a story twist of... a witch that can use both black and white magic, trying to retrieve item of black magic stolen by white magic priest to prevent the misuse of the item that would taint the reputation of black magic further down.
See, the point of being able to conquer both different type of magic is very rare and sounds god mod.

Honestly you can get away with a character having many special abilities, if you remember to make them realistic, to give them struggles and flaws. The only way your character can be a Mary Sue is if they are perfect in everything. At least that's how I see it. I mean, I don't think Aang or Korra, from ATLA and LOK, fall in that category, because they are human still, they make mistakes, they have flaws to their personalities and they learn and they grow.
Your story sounds really interesting, Xru! :)

She is not good in everything, that is for sure...
But what you consider flaw? I mean, some characteristic is vague in between the line of flaw and advantage.
You might see blind as a flaw, but if you see it in another angle, it is an advantage to let the other sensories grow... if you know what I mean. I have this one character that is blind, and manage to use the combination of other senses to 'see' things.
(Some stories already have this 'mind' eye theory...)
The message I want to send with the story is... do not judge according to the cover, rank, race, weapon.... etc. It is the human heart that matters~ lately, I have been seeing quite a few stories that blames human. good.

I like drawing random characters that pop up in my head I rarely make a deep write up for them. After a few sentences I'll have to go do something else.

What I meant was personality flaws, not physical. For a character to appear human and realistic, they have to make mistakes, they have to have all kinds of personality based limitations. For example, I am impossibly stubborn, and that can cause me to say and do things that I might not really want to do, just out of spite. Those would in turn be mistakes. Etc, etc.
Good character development, for me, is having a character start out with a determined personality (which shouldn't be described so much as it should be "shown" to the reader) and then have that personality change/develop according to the experiences that this character has throughout the story. But even if your character grows and changes into someone better, they should never come close to perfect, because that's just not realistic.
Anyway, those are just my views and preferences. And I'm going at it from a reader's perspective, mind.

Personality flaws...
*whip out character sheet*
Is quiet a negative flaw? Anyway, here is the character's personality.
+ : Observant, Careful, good memory in factual information
- : Quiet, slow, forgetful, inconsiderate, vengeance
I love vengeance. + is good, - is bad in my classification. Forgetful in terms of... random things which is not knowledge, it could be important random things/information.
But the she would still end up rather vengeance at the end. haha~ I think, at this point of story/planning going.
