Kris finished up her work, moving around the cabin to make sure everything was done. Now to figure out something else to do. Or some way to make Hisoka go away.

"So why are you still here?"

"Looking after you," Hisoka said simply. It was the truth, who was he to deny it? "Making sure you'll be alright."

"And I suppose you won't leave until I go back." Kris huffed. Fine. She could be stubborn, or she could go back and talk to Aura and then come back. that would be easier, at least.

"You would be correct," Hisoka agreed, nodding. Of course, if she did end up coming back, he would most likely end up following her so she wouldn't be alone. Maybe he could even convince her to bring Shippou, if she was calm enough. More hunting practice would be good for the kit.

Kris sighed, aggravated, and shoved her hair back out of her face. Without a word she started walking back towards the house. She wouldn't be back until well after midnight, but she was fine with that. At least then Shippou wouldn't be awake, in case she decided she needed to leave.

Hisoka followed Kris back. He was being honest when he said he was looking after her. She didn't necessarily need to be looked after, but he was going to anyways.

Kris finally got back to the house. She didn't even pull her boots off, just unlocked the door and stepped inside, listening for the other two.

Aura was in the main room, curled up on the couch. She was idly reading a book that was propped on the arm of the couch, and Shippou was asleep in her lap. She didn't have the heart to disturb the kit just yet; he was snuggled in and had only just fallen asleep not long ago. So she was reading to pass some time. Either she would finish and then take the kit upstairs, or she would fall asleep herself, one of the two. She looked over when she heard the door unlock. Only Kris had the other key, so she watched to see if her friend would walk in.

Kris stopped maybe 20 feet in, looking at Aura and Shippou silently. She didn't say anything, giving Aura the option of going back to her reading or starting the conversation. And she certainly wasn't going to wake up Shippou. Hell, she wouldn't even be here but for the nagging cat. So she didn't say anything.

"I'm sorry."

That actually kind of surprised Aura a bit. She had a bunch of things going around in her head, and she hadn't expected that one to be the first one to reach her mouth.

"I... I didn't mean to do anything to upset you," she continued softly as she closed her book. She didn't want to wake the kit in her lap, but there were still things that needed to be said.

Kris looked briefly surprised before she sighed quietly. Crap. Now she was going to have to go through with this.

"It's fine," she said after a moment. "I just wasn't especting that." She scuffed her foot against the floor.

"It's not fine if it made you leave," Aura pointed out. She wasn't stupid. "And you're still not okay, I can tell. You're fizzing everywhere."

Kris shrugged. "Doesn't matter. I just thought I'd check in." She shifted, fully intending to leave again for a day or two. More time would do her good.

"It does matter," Aura protested. "We've been worried about you." She could see Kris starting to drift back towards the door. "Don't leave again..."

Kris froze, looking at her. Then she sighed and slowly moved farther into the house. She didn't sit though, just stood there almost awkwardly.

Aura glanced down at the kit in her lap for a moment, making sure he hadn't woken up from the talking.

"I don't think he's slept in his own room at all in the last four days," she commented softly. "Neither have I, come to think of it, but that's because he falls asleep on me here." She paused for a moment. "And I never thought I would have to know how to skin a rabbit."

Kris shrugged eloquently. "Never thought you'd have to. You never showed any interest." She was silent for a few more moments, just watching the two.

"It's good you've had time together, though."

"We still missed you the whole time," Aura replied. "It's not right without you here."

Kris sighed. Way to emotionally blackmail her...

"Sorry," she muttered, sounding miserable. She leaned back against a wall.

Aura sighed a bit, noticing how Kris wasn't letting herself get comfortable, even though she was home.

"Something's still wrong," she observed softly.

Kris shrugged and didn't say anything else, looking away. She wasn't comfortable, but she wasn't going to start talking either. Not yet.

Instead she focused on calming her youki.

Aura bit her lip. She knew she couldn't make Kris stick around if the hanyou didn't want to, but Aura didn't want her to leave again.

"If you still need time to get yourself in order, then go," she finally said softly. "You're not back to normal yet." She was quiet for a moment. "Though... maybe I should wake Shippou? He's been waiting for you to get home, he'll be upset if you leave again without letting him see you."

Kris sighed. "No," she muttered. She didn't want him to see her like this. She'd rather go run for another day or two before seeing him.

Aura was quiet for a moment. She knew Shippou would be upset, but she kind of understood how Kris was thinking.

"Alright," she said. "I'll talk to him in the morning."

Kris nodded and moved over to the door again. "I'll be back in a day or two."

And then she slipped outside again.
