"I'm done anyway." Kris moved into the cabin, starting a fire to cook her meat. And ignoring Hisoka again. There was more than enough meat to go around for both of them.

Hisoka nodded and just hung back to watch. If she needed any help, he was there, but for the moment, he would let her do what she wanted. He could step back and let her work if she wanted him to.

Kris managed to get her meat cooked, though her hands were still trembling a little. She was trying to focus on keeping her youki wrapped up, even though she was still shaky without the added strain.

With a small sigh, Hisoka moved in and gently took the meat from her.

"Let me finish this," he said. "Go relax, work off your extra energy, something. I can take care of finishing the cooking."

Kris growled briefly before she huffed and left, going to go on a run to try to work off some of her extra energy. Might not work, but oh well.

Hisoka let her go. She looked like she needed the time to herself to work off the energy, so he would let her. In the meantime, he would make sure there was something for her to eat when she got back.

Kris didn't return for a while, and once she did she looked a little calmer. Actually she looked closer to passing out, but she wasn't about to.

"Welcome back," Hisoka said when Kris got back. "If you're interested, there's still some rabbit for you. Otherwise, you look like a bit of a rest might be welcome."

Kris shrugged and went over to the fire, picking up a piece of the rabbit. "I'm fine," she muttered. She didn't look at him, crouching down there to eat. Now she was feeling more forlorn than anything.

"You're not fine," Hisoka replied. He moved a little closer to her. "If you care to talk about it, I will listen."

"I don't feel like talking. I just want to be left alone to think." Kris didn't look at him, staying where she was.

"Sometimes, being alone with one's thoughts is not the best option," Hisoka advised. Regardless, he got up. "If you decide you want someone to listen, after all, I will be inside." At least inside, he would still be able to hear her if she went anywhere, but it would allow her to have some space for the moment.

Kris snorted, having figured that out for herself already, but didn't say anything. She just sat there, her shoulders a little hunched as she tried to make herself relax and calm down.

Meaning it only took her half an hour to finally fall asleep.

After a little while, when Hisoka didn't hear anything from outside, he went out to check on her. When he found her asleep by the fire, he smiled faintly and gently picked her up. She would be more comfortable inside in her own bed, he knew. Taking her inside, he laid her down on her bed and put the blanket over her, and then went back out into the main room again to keep watch for the night.

Kris stayed pretty much passed out until mid-morning. Then she stirred, groaned quietly, and rolled over and pulled her pillow over her head. She almost felt like she had a hangover. Except from staying up for a few days and working herself too hard.

Hisoka had stayed up and kept watch all night while Kris was asleep. Once morning came around, he'd gone into the kitchen to boil some water for tea for himself, although he made sure there was enough for Kris, when she got around to waking up again. He wasn't going to wake her, though. She needed the rest.

Kris woke groggily a little after noon and got up, zombie-ing her way over to go make tea. She ignored Hisoka for the moment, still working out the kinks in her neck and back, cracking her neck a few times as she waited.

"How do you feel today?" Hisoka asked as Kris walked by him. At least she was awake, although he thought she could probably stand more sleep. She may not necessarily need it, but it might still be welcome.

Kris shrugged, hunching over her tea cup. "Fine," she muttered, her voice a little raspy. "Finally awake." She rolled her shoulders before taking a sip of her tea. She was rather surprised she'd slept for so long. And she still felt like crap.

"If you'd like, I can work the tension out of your shoulders for you," Hisoka offered. He'd seen her rolling her shoulders, and thought that the offer of a massage might be good. He was sure the hot bath the night before had worked wonders, but it clearly hadn't eased all of the ache or tension in her muscles.

"I'm fine. Just have to get moving again." Kris took another sip of her tea, already going through what she could do today, what needed to be done. Because she did not want to think.

"The offer stands if you change your mind," Hisoka relented. He wasn't going to be so pushy and stubborn, now that Kris had gotten some rest, but if she started to push herself again, then he would make sure to take care of her.

Kris glanced over at him, finally, and nodded once to show she heard before she went back to her tea, already planning what to do with the day.

Aura managed to keep Shippou busy for a couple more days, but she was definitely grateful when Kris finally came home again. She'd missed her friend quite a bit, and she could tell Shippou missed her just as much, and everything finally seemed okay again when Kris got back.

Kris trudged in the door a few days later, covered in scratches and bruises from working. She didn't look pleased, but she didn't look pissed, either. Mostly she just looked tired. So she barely even paused on her way inside, going straight for the stairs to go collapse in bed for a while.
