"Good to hear," Hisoka replied as he looked at the newborn. The pup started fussing at there suddenly being people around him, and his little ears came out from under the blanket he was in.

Sesshomaru hushed the pup gently, shifting to scratch lightly behind one ear, soothing him. In a few days the pup would be a little more comfortable and Sesshomaru would let them spend longer with his pup. But for now, short visits were best.

Hisoka completely understood, and took half a step back.

"Have you allowed anyone else to see him yet?" he asked softly.

"Inuyasha saw him a little earlier," Sesshomaru said quietly, calming the pup again easily. "No one else yet."

Not even his father? Hisoka was mildly surprised.

"What did your brother think of his new nephew?" he asked.

"He is curious. Careful, as he should be." Sesshomaru smiled faintly. So far his little brother had done well, but he also hadn't been around the pup for very long.

"Good," Hisoka replied. He was quiet for a moment. "And how have you handled everything?" That was the important question, especially considering how rabidly protective Sesshoumaru had been of Aura throughout the last several months. The pregnancy had been difficult for her, so it was good to see the pup was strong and healthy.

Sesshomaru shrugged. He'd been worried all night, but he was okay now. Since everything seemed to be going well and Aura was fine, if tired. He figured things would be a little less stressful now.

It wasn't a real answer, but Hisoka didn't push the issue.

"Well, I think we will go settle in, then," he said. "Perhaps Shippou and Alex can keep Inuyasha company for a while, and we can wait until Aura is feeling up to visitors." He paused for a moment. "In the meantime, I believe your father would like to meet his grandson?" It was just a suggestion, but still a valid one.

Sesshomaru inclined his head. "As soon as he returns. He had to take care of some business." Which was true. But he expected that his father would be back soon.

"In the meantime, feel free to settle in."

Hisoka nodded and turned back to his own family, gesturing for them to head towards the other end of the wing. He knew there were always rooms set aside for them, now, and it was best to leave Sesshoumaru to his mate and son for the moment.

Sesshomaru slipped back into his room, setting the pup down next to Aura and then curling around both of them protectively.

Kris kept hold of Alex and Shippou as she made her way to the room Hisoka motioned to, yawning briefly. She figured she could visit Aura later.

The pup stirred slightly when he was settled next to his mother, but otherwise didn't wake. Aura barely stirred herself when her mate and son snuggled in with her, but she did cuddle a bit closer in her sleep. She didn't wake for a while, until the pup started fussing. Even though she was still tired, the nap had helped, and she was more than willing to pay attention to her son again.

Sesshomaru waited until that night after he'd made sure Aura ate her dinner to go tell the others it was okay for them to visit. For a little while.

Kris grinned and got up, heading over towards their room. She knocked on the doorframe, peeking in at Aura. "Mind if I come in?"

Aura looked over at the door and grinned.

"Sure," she said. She moved her feet a little so her friend could sit down.

Kris grinned and moved over, perching on the bed. "How do you feel? Okay so far?" She looked Aura over briefly just to be sure. She also peered down at the pup while she was there.

"I'm fine," Aura replied as she cuddled her son gently. "Just tired." She smiled a bit when Katsuro grabbed onto one of her fingers and held on.

Kris smiled as she watched them. He was so cute, especially with those little ears.

Then a thought occured to her, and she paused. Huh. Maybe that would work... She put the thought out of her mind for the moment and reached over, touching Katsuro's cheek gently.

Katsuro yawned widely and then blinked up at her, a little curious, though he didn't let go of his mother's finger.

"He's going to look just like his father when he gets older," Aura said softly. "I just know he will."

"But with ears." Kris grinned and poked the pup's nose gently. "I wonder if he'll have the markings? Inuyasha doesn't, but his father does."

"Probably not," Aura replied, cuddling the pup when he whined a bit. She'd been told he would likely be very sensitive to light, sound, and smell for a few days. "I think if he was going to have markings, he'd have them already. But it's okay, he's still perfect."

Kris nodded, looking speculative as she looked at the pup. She didn't touch him again, since she didn't want to confuse him too much with her scent, but she did settle more comfortably on the bed.

Aura glanced at her friend and noticed the thoughtful look on her face.

"What are you pondering?" she asked. "I know you're thinking about something."

"Just something that occured to me," Kris said quietly. "I apparently can't have children with Hisoka. Not like this. But there are plenty of halflings around, yes?" She trailed off to see if Aura would get what she was saying.

Aura nodded as Kris spoke. It had made sense to her that Kris and Hisoka couldn't have kids; Aura had just assumed that cats and foxes weren't compatible. She blinked when the implication set in.

"That's going to be ridiculously difficult to time properly," she said. "Especially if your human night ends up right in the middle of your moontime." Which had happened in the past, she knew. It always made Kris extra grumpy.
