I watched the sun’s last rays slip behind the tents and welcomed the red mist that clouded my eyes. It was Time. Inside the massive tent below, Jack announced my act. I ignored the words and descended the spire I’d been balancing on. As I descended, several females (at least, I hope it was females) squealed. I flashed a toothy grin at Marik; it was always fun to hear them. Casually, I scanned the crowd to see if she was here. Not seeing her face, I swore to myself. If she wasn’t here, then my most impressive act was all in vain. Marik walked over with the key to the lion’s cage. “I only heard four girls this time ‘o’ prince. Does that mean that I am the winner?” Marik asked.
“Not by a long shot,” I answered. Marik unlocked the cage to the lions. A flurry of motion caught my eye, and I looked at the entrance. There she was. My breath caught in my throat, but I was distracted. Suddenly, the smell of rank meat filled my nostrils. I whipped back and flicked the whip easily. The lion recoiled for a second, but came back. I took steps back as I flicked my whip in the lion’s face. She snarled, refusing to quell. As if by instinct, I darted away from the spot where I had been standing. Suddenly, all three of the lions were facing me. After a few more snaps of the whip, I had their full attention. Now came the hard part.
A clanking sound filled the air as three metal rings were lowered down from the ceiling. Stupid clowns laughed a jostled among themselves as they pulled two trampolines into place. I ignored them as I transmitted the thoughts I needed to make the lions cooperate. When I felt the heat on my back, I knew that they’d lit the hoops on fire. I smelled the oil on my hair and grinned. Then, I wrapped the whip around my waist and leapt into the air. I twisted violently to make sure I was facing the upside of the ring. As the fire caught in my hair, it turned my hair color to a crimson red. I caught a bit of it on my tongue and spun myself front ways to land on the trampoline feet first. I pulled my hair into a loose ponytail and spun through the second loop. From the gasps of the crowd, I knew my hair had gone through its rainbow spectrum, like it was supposed to. I righted myself just as the lions passed through the same loop and prepared myself for the last loop and prepared myself for the last loop. I unwrapped my whip and held it in my hands. The third loop approached, and the ceiling wasn’t too far from it. I pulled my legs in and torpedoed through the third loop. I unwrapped my whip and wrapped it around one of the rafters, pulling myself up to get out of the way of the lions. The lions passed through the flaming circle and prepared to land. The oil on their fur caught the light and transformed their pelts to a black dark enough to rival the midnight sky. I unloosened my whip and fell after them, the wind whistling through my ears. Suddenly, the formation appeared. I lifted my whip and fell after them, the wind whistling through my ears. I landed solidly on one of the lion’s back. With a flick of my whip, they dismantled, two in the back, one in the front. I flipped and landed directly in front of them. The crowd went wild. Marik walked back up to me. “Show off,” he grinned.
“You know the fan girls love it.” I replied. Marik grinned as if he were in on some private joke. I turned and saw her eyes on me. Casually, I walked over to her. “Hi,” I said as our eyes met.
She muttered something and looked down, flushing. “Hi reed!” Carly said. She nudged Ariel in the ribs and laughed. “That was some stunt. What do you call it?” Ariel looked up at me.
I grinned at her, “I might have an answer if you asked.” Carly nudged Ariel, and Ariel frowned.
“Well what is it called?” Ariel asked. I took off the ribbon and handed it to her.
“So you’ll think of me,” he said.
“You still haven’t told us the name for your little stunt” Ariel pointed out.
Flashing her another grin, I replied, “Lion lassoing.” She smiled, and I bowed. “Goodbye.” I walked back over to Marik with my hair swinging.
“Soooo…Reedy my boy. You done lassoing lions?” he asked. He punched me in my arm and started to walk away. I looked back to where Ariel was sitting and chatting with Carly. ‘Not by a long shot’ I thought. I followed Marik to the exit and smiled to myself.

My amazing stunt for my friend Carly. The goal was to write a stunt that your character performs on the circus. The activity stems from a short story Jenna wrote. In it, all of the characters were arguing over who had the best stunt after someone's pay was docked for being sick. (Alice Tightrope). She argued that she should be payed because she had the most dangerous stunt. The stories will be judge by Carly, and hopefully, I'll win!!!
