Laura Tyler brought in the last of the boxes from her car ,after the movers had left from the day. She had liked this little two story house since she had seen it in the Realtor ad. Laura had moved to town after she had gotten a job at the library. She locked the car and went inside to relax a little bit. She was tired after the long day , but would go to the store after resting a little bit.

Alex watched as yet another tenant moved in below. He tended to stay in the attic of the house that had been built on his final resting place. He did have to admit thlast family that had owned the place had been very strictin what they allowed the children to read, mostly workson temperance and the evils of slavery. He smiled slightly, that had been a while ago.

He drifted down the stairs. He didn't need to use the stairs in his incorpreal form but it took energy and he was feeling lazy and didn't want to deal with the discomfort. He found himself following the girl wondering why she'd decided to take the old house.at the house was a cute charming building, but he had become so very bored over teh centuries, haunting the house. There had been a few interesting people over the years, but mostly he was tired. he just wanted to end this half exsistance he was living but he'd been cursed so he was stuck.

Not really knowing why, maybe morbid curisoity, and the fact that she'd lugged in an amazing amount of books and he hadn't rad anything interesting in so very long. The

Laura started to put the books away. She read pretty much anything that caught her eye. She was glad that the house had a built in bookcase in the study . She thought she felt someone watching her , but shrugged it off as her being tired. She realized how late it was and got ready for bed. She laid in the bed thinking of her life here in this town. It was a far cry from the city she grew up in and was a long ways from her family. She set her alarm and tried to get some sleep.

Alex poked through some boxes as the girl settled into the library, but everything looked so forgein to him. He had tired to keep up with the technology over the years, but it had been nearly 50 years since anyone had lived full time in the house, so most of the gadgets she had were alien to him.

Settling into a chair, he waited for her to go to bed. Once he was sure she was alseep, he allowed himself to become more solid so he could touch the books. For some reason he hadn't quite figured out how to interact with the physical world in his incorpreal form. He lifted a hard bound book from the talb ewhere it had been dropped and began flipping through the pages. He found himself engaged with the character as he read the book well into the wee hours of the early morning.

Laura woke up when the alarm came on. She turned it off and laid there trying to wake up. She took her shower and got dressed for the day. She would start work tomorrow and that gave her the time to do some errands. She ate a breakfast of leftover pizza and made a list of things she would need. She left for the store and was back a hour later.

Alex started when he heard the cachophany from upstairs. The book he'd been reading hit the floor with a soft thud as it landed on the carpeting. In a flash he was upstairs, his sword drawn looking for the danger. It took him a moment to realize the obnoxious noise was an alarm of some sort. His eyes bugged out when he saw the girl getting out of bed. He turned his back and headed back down the stairs.

He watched as she ate and readied herself for the day. She was cute and efficient, so different then the last few women who'd lived here. No one would have dared allowed their daughter to live alone before. She was of an age to be married but it was obvious from the few belonging she'd brought with her she was still single. He wondered if she were a widow. That wouuld make more sense then her having always been single.

Laura took care of the things she had bought and continued to unpack. She didn't like being alone. Most of her friends had married and a few kids. Laura knew that in time she would find the right one. She had moved to this town after a bad break up. She had dated a man for a few years and had hoped he would marry her , but he ended up marrying someone else a few weeks after the break up. She hoped she would meet someone here.

Alex sat and watched the girl, he'd gotten her name off some old mail "Laura". She was sweet and desicive in where she put things, most of the time. Watching her he learned what some of the newer gadgets she had were. The one that seems to show little actors in plays seemed most interestign to him. he would have to check that out next time she left.

As she unpacked he wandered around, stopping short when he saw the book still lying on the ground from this morning. It was in the middle of the floor, laid open with it's spine up. There was no way he would be able to move it without her seeing it. He really didn't want to make himself known. People didn't often like having ghosts in their homes.

Laura noticed the book on the floor. She knew it wasn't there when she went to bed last night. Picking t up off the floor, she put it on the shelf with the others. The house was looking more put together. She started to take care of the DVDs on the shelves. She had the feeling of being watched again , but figured it was because she was hungry and went to make some lunch.

Alex sighed in releif when the girl made no reaction on fidingn the book on the floor. As he watched her put up the small book like items on a shelf with the play box he wondered if she would be comfortable with seeing him. He was lonely and she seemed like an interesting person.

Laura finished up putting the DVDs away and went make dinner. She often wished that she had someone special to spend a quiet dinner with. She finished up and went to watch a movie. She put the disk in and sat down to watch. She still had the feeling she wasn't alone in the house.

Alexander sat down in an armchair and was entranced by the small players in the little box. So much so that he relaxed just a bit to much and his form coupld just be made out in the flickering of the televison set in the darkness.

(sorry got sick then had to get back to work. No more vacation :( )

Laura thought she saw something in the chair , but wasn't sure. She thought she was just seeing things and decided to head on to bed after the movie. She took care of the disk and put it back on the shelf. She went up stairs and got her clothes ready for tomorrow. She was looking forward to starting her new job .

Alex watched fascinated by the small disk. Once he was certain the woman was upstairs, he materialized and began reading the backs of the small cases. He'd so enjoyed the movie they'd just watched he wasnted to watch another. FInding something that looked interesting, he began pushing the buttons like he'd seen the woman do trying to get it to work. Cursing under his breath, he continued pressing buttons until something seemed to be working right. He sat back down in a chair and began watching the new movie.

Laura woke up the next morning and got ready for work. She got dressed after her shower in a nice looking skirt and sweater . She then put her hair in a ponytail and a little bit of make up. She headed down to make her lunch and get some breakfast. She noticed that the TV had been left on and was wondering if she was losing her mind. She grabbed her purse and her tote bag, that had work papers in it and her lunch. She locked the door and drove off to work.

Nearly a dozen movies left, Alex was feeling a bit wound up. The movies had taken him through the gamit of emotions and he was getting tired. He grabbed one more off the shelf unable to help himself.

Laura came home tired . She noticed that the TV was on again and started to panic. Was someone else living in her home? She looked around the house and didn't see anyone else . She calmed down and made dinner and watched Tv, before going to bed. She hoped that she wasn't going crazy.

Alex felt like an idiot. He'd scared to poor girl. He would have to show himself to her tomorrow so she would stop thinking she was going crazy. He sat himself down and waited for the morning to arrive.

Laura woke up and got ready for work. She went to the kitchen and made some coffee and wondered what she would eat for breakfast. Deciding on a frozen breakfast burrito, she put it on a plate and put it in the microwave. As Laura waited , she poured some coffee in a mug and sat down. She was feeling much better than she was last night.
