I kind of like dying easier. it adds extra suspense for me. Bplus I'm just used to mages being "glass cannon" so far sky rim seems to be really reinforcing that for me and I love it!

Hm, I imagine I'd die reeeeally easily then. :XD I suck at melee fights, I'm more of a sniper so when enemies get close on me I'm in trouble...my magic's not that great either. I'll have to remedy that when I start playing Skyrim...:ninja:

Oh and there's something I forgot to ask: Are you able to 'mutilate' the bodies if you keep chopping/blasting at them? My brother said that that feature might be implemented into Skyrim from Fallout 3. I'm unsure if I want to see bloodied bits of body parts flying around me when playing...:lol:;;;

No, I haven't noticed any ability to bloody up corpses. They react the same way they did in Oblivion. Even when I use a finishing move to stab straight through someone's heart, the corpse is still in one piece and bloodless.

Definitely no severing of limbs. The most "gruesome" thing that Ive done is stab my sword through people(does a close up too) while fighting.

As for things that easily kill you...DAMN THOSE GIANTS! I did NOT want to fly 800+ feet into the air...as dead weight. And that was one hit, with full health.

Ohh, that's good to know. Thanks. :)

And what the eff, 800 feet into the air?! :gonk: Was it one of those Ice Trolls I've heard about?

Ever had that feeling in the pit of your stomach you get when going either really high on a swing set and jumping off or on a "roller coaster" that plummets? I get that feeling with anything that throws a character up in the air a large distance.

not gruesome at all I'd say. hope that's not disappointing to you. I don't really miss gore when its absent in most games.

Yeah, I get that feeling too whenever I jump/accidentally fall off the Suicide Edge (or was it Cliff?) in Oblivion.

Nope, I don't mind the absence of gore at all. I'm mostly dreading the appearance of zombies or bonewalkers or whatever zombie-like monsters they have in the game. Half-decayed-yet-animated-creatures always freak me out.

I used to be that way. And then my ex forced me to play left 4 dead with him and I got over it. smokers can still freak me out though...

:gonk: I avoid horror games in general. Unless it was comical or I'm %100 sure there won't be something jumping out at me from the dark. I hate 'surprises' like those. That's one of the biggest reasons why I always aim for %100 Chameleon whenever I'm playing a TES game...no surprise attacks from lurking zombies/bonewalkers. :gonk:

I haven't been killed by the giants yet, but I did manage to accidentally anger one by roaming into it's camp and harvesting it's cheese. I didn't think it had noticed me, but apparently it did. I had to run for my life.

I need to find a shrine or a potion of something to get rid of my disease. (rockjoint) How is it that everyone can tell that I'm diseased when I don't even look any different? Stop telling me to get some rest, I'm an adventurer, I don't need rest!

Does anyone know how to pick up items without putting them into your inventory? I've managed to do it a couple times by accident while trying to regularly pick something up but I'm not sure how I managed it. I'd like to have this knowledge for when I eventually get a house.

I like my Wood Elf Archer, but I really wished that Dwarves would get revived. I think it is interesting that children are now actually in the game.

@Sho: Ohh, so giants are like a tribe of their own like the goblins? :O I'd thought they were like trolls or maybe ogres...xD

Do they have temples like from Oblivion? And lol, haha, yeah, being an adventurer means not needing sleep. :XD I remember just roaming around on and on and on for weeks and weeks...only stopping to 'sleep' for an hour each time in order to level up...

Oh, so are the controls for picking items up different from Oblivion? I think it was Ctrl + Z or something...it's been too long since I last played the game, thanks to my new laptop somehow not allowing me to use console. :gonk:

@Kole: I think it's because they're supposed to be extinct or something...wasn't the last one in Morrowind and infected with Corpus? But yeah, it'd be cool to see some dwarves, or even be one yourself. And what're the children like? :eager:

@Kole: It would be interesting to see some dwarves. I mean, you wander all over some of their ruins. There's gotta be some hidden deep in there somewhere!

@飛段 Giants are a sort of Tribe. I mean, I've never been able to get one to talk to me, but they're not exactly enemies. Not all of them will attack you on sight. They just don't like you being in their areas and especially not messing with their Mammoths.

I've only been to two cities so far, and the one only had a couple buildings and the magic College. The other one I didn't spend very much time in so I didn't even see if there was a temple. I did manage to find a small shrine in a dungeon, so I'm happily disease free now! Yay!

I'm playing on the console. The controls are mostly the same.

@Empresso: Ooooh. That explains why I kept accidentally triggering it. Thank you! :O

No problem. :) I figured it out on accident too myself and didn't know what I was doing to do it the first few times.

I joined the Brotherhood today!! Woo woo!!

Skyrim is amazing.
Never been that big of an elderscrolls fan. I pretty much play old fighting games mostly. (GGXXAC for life!) But I had to try Skyrim after playing a little bit of Oblivion and beating Daggerfall.

@Sho: Ohh, that's cool to know! I've always wondered about other tribes out there. I wonder if they get attacked by dragons? XD *considers luring an attacking dragon towards a Giant tribe someday*

There're shrines in dungeons now? o_O;

@Digital: Ah, so Skyrim has the Dark Brotherhood guild too? Do they have the Morag Tong (or was it the Cammona Tong...I keep getting the two mixed up) as well?

@Empress: It was driving me crazy! @[email protected]

@Deity: Cool. I've never joined the Brotherhood (not even in Oblivion) I guess because I always play a "good" character. My sister joins it, so I just watch what she does.

@飛段 I think I remember one of the early videos for the game shows a giant being picked up by a dragon and killed, so I guess a dragon would be a good "ally" to help you take down the big guys.

Shrines are a lot smaller now. Almost like little family alters. So yes, you can find them in dungeons. I also found one on a mountain. It's kind of weird finding them in random places, but it makes sense for them to be available to people who don't live in cities.

@Sho-Shonojo: it would have driven me crazy if I hadn't figured it out soon. glad I could help you though :)

I really like that shrines can be in random places. It makes this game feel more real

Skyrim overall feels a lot more like a real world than Oblivion did. I've noticed that the way you talk to people and activate quests, and the way that other character talk to each other just feels more alive.

My favorite example of this so far has been the Mages College. When I joined up I actually had to go to class with other students and the teacher actually taught us a spell and I could interact with the other students during all this.

Just call me Dan or Fading/Faded. :XD

I can't even play Oblivion these days. :( I mean, I can, but it doesn't let me use console. Apparently this happens to some Vista users, and despite looking up methods to fix the problem, they didn't work and I still can't use console...which makes trying to get out of tight places (like being stuck on a ledge after jumping) with tcl difficult. :stare:

:( I've never had that problem with it or heard of that error but that's horrible! I think I've seen the game of the year edition for oblivion for sale more recently at very low prices. I think once I saw it for sale for under $10. I'm not so sure that buying another copy would help you any though since it might be an odd system error. I loved oblivion. It really is the game that got me into 3d modeling so, I have so many copies of it. I've even given a few copies to some friends of mine just to try the game out but they loved it too much and told me they're keeping my copies in place of b-day gifts or x-mas in one case.
