Yeah, it's a problem with the laptop probably, as I haven't had this problem with my old laptop. :( And it only seems to happen to laptop Vista users too...bleh. :stare:
lol! I sort of bummed it off my brother. I've never heard of the TES series until I randomly found a game in his laptop one day while visiting...I was like, "What's Oblivion?" And he told me it's a game and that I can play it if I want to...well naturally I did and very nearly freaked when the zombie came shambling out during the tutorial. :XD (I have a thing with zombies...anything that resemble a zombie freaks me out, including Bonewalkers and Corpus victims from Morrowind) He gave me his copy of both Oblivion and Morrowind since he said he's done with them already...and thus I got sucked into the world of TES with an obsession. When I heard about Skyrim in March or April I kept thinking about it non-stop. When it was the 11th of November, I was bouncing around in my seat all day (despite knowing it'll be a long while before I get a copy), and my excitement was what made me start this thread. :lol:
Speaking of which, I really need to remember to call my brother later so I can ask when he's planning on getting a copy...he mentioned he'd be buying it, though I'm not sure if he knows about the high requirements of the game yet. I'm pretty sure his current laptop won't be able to handle it without crashing every two minutes.

most laptops and pcs are multi core now. I really cant say how well it would or wouldn't do. I spent a lot building mine... i can run anything with max settings. It wasn't meant to be for games though. I do a lot of modeling and rendering and that whole process goes much smoother on my sort of system.Anyway, I don't think it would be too bad for him though. Hope not. I think you'd love this game. It hasn't disappointed me at all. I was thinking it would disappoint me somehow since I've been anticipating it for so long. I have a tendency to do that. Hype things up too much and then be disappointed. I usually come around again later though.

Well, I'm not sure, but my previous laptop often crashed or lagged badly when I was playing Oblivion...in 'Lowest Quality'. So with Skyrim and its awesome graphics...:sweat:
I'm planning on saving up for a couple of months (including this month) and then spending all my salary on a good computer. :) (minus my food money, that is :lol:) I'll be sure that when getting it, I'll tell the salesperson that I want it for exclusively games. :XD

main feature to look for is a dedicated graphics card. Anything that doesn't have one, don't buy it. I remember when I asked for a computer for games I was shown several that didn't have dedicated graphics cards and that just wouldn't have worked out well. I'd say dual cores for most games. go with ddr3 ram. 6 gb would be nice. 4 still acceptable for nicer settings on most games.

I'm hoping for something that can run smoothly on highest quality for Skyrim, since I've been looking forward so much for the scenery within the game. (and so that I can replay Oblivion on a higher quality this time round) Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep them in mind when I go computer-shopping. :)
What's ddr3?

I love watching my boyfriend play Skyrim. :drool:
Apparently there's a way to stick a bucket over a shopkeeper's head - and, when you do, you're able to pickpocket the entire store or somesuch... :lol: It's hard to get the bucket on top of their head, though.
I really enjoy watching him play. :ninja: And the guidebook/whatever for it is MASSIVE. I swear, it's enormous. :shock: It kind of makes me want to open it and read it...

It's as thick as my town's phone book, if that helps. About as tall as my index finger is long.

I've started my playing about two weeks ago, but haven't had much time to play cause my husband also plays. He started on 11-11 and is at level 28, Dark Elf.
I'm at level 8, and playing a girl Nord. Town guards don't bother me or make comments that are rude. Guess they like what they see? :P

Haha, whenever I start a game on Oblivion, the NPCs are always rude to me. XD But then once I became famous after saving the world, they all start smiling pervertedly whenever you pass them...>_>;
Should take about a month more before I get my copy of Skyrim. I decided not to wait for my brother to buy it. xD

So I was playing the other day and I wanted to show my mom what my character looked like. So I turn him around and we see this:

Apparently the armor I was wearing didn't layer right, so I'm faceless. O.O
I'm hoping that the update that's now available doesn't fix this.

It's the Arch-Mage's armor. And the helmet that I attempted to equip with it was Morokei.

Whoa, now if only they had armor like that in Oblivion for the Arch Mage...the robes for the Arch Mage in Oblivion was pathetic. :gonk: I preferred Mannimarco's robes over his...
...Which, speaking of, Mannimarco is still dead in Skyrim, right? :ninja:

Oh man I am loving the mage's robes so much more in Skyrim. Oblivion mage's robes were just so typical and boring.
I have not run in to Mannimarco, so as far as I know, he is still dead.

Hm, hopefully he does. And hopefully that in Skyrim, I'll have a chance to actually be a Necromancer instead of just a mage like in Oblivion. :ninja:

Necromancy is not banned in Skyrim, so you should be able to become one. I know a friend of mine is trying to be a Nercomancer.

Hell yes! I've always wanted to be a Necromancer...I mean, yeah, you can summon undead and stuff in Oblivion without repercussion, but still, it'd be nice to have my very own abandoned cave/fort filled with dead bodies and stuff. :P

That sounds super cool.
Now that I've completed my goal of finishing the Mage's guild quests, I've started looking for a house. The thing is that no one will say me one until I get famous or do something for them. I just want a little shack where I can drop the library worth of books that I've been carrying around with me! I also want to get married.
And I still haven't seen a dragon.

Really? D: Damn, I would've thought you could at least get a shabby shack of some sort. >_>;
In Oblivion I've been using this custom mod called 'The Box', a portable home that I can carry with me and dump all my hoards of stuff inside. xD And I really need it, because I'm a huge hoarder. Especially of ingredients. I remember having a collection of over a thousand Daedra hearts...o 3o;;

I mean, maybe there is one and I just haven't found it yet. I've only been to four of the cities so far.
That sounds really useful. I hate having to drop things because I run out of room. o.o
100 Daedra hearts? omg. But, you can make awesome potions from those things! But, I like making potion so that's what I think about. You can make a ton of money making potions.
I liked collecting the sigil stones and letting them roll around in my room in Oblivion. Those things were awesome.

I remember my first, second, third, and fourth encounters with dragons in Skyrim. And yeah, they were different ones. First one was boring, and easy. Town guards did most of the work, same with third. But second one, I watched it kill a Giant that was chasing me, then I slaughtered it. Fourth...I ran away to the town so they could help me...I was almost dead when it showed its face the first time.
And if you complete quests for the Jarl of Whiterun, you can talk to a guy in his "palace" thing to buy a house for 5,000.
