Because I can't hear myself talk. I was born completely Deaf until I got my hearing aids at age two. I don't really like to talk on the phone because of that. Also, because I have a shorter tongue and I have to be careful of the way I say things because they can come out sounding like something else.

So it's not entirely just the hearing.

I was Deaf as well and went through eight years of speech therapy. It's taken many many years to recover what hearing I have.

My nephew has hearing aids now and he's only 3, but we're happy because he is able to hear more better

I went through about sixteen years of speech therapy because I didn't start talking until after I got the hearing aids. Now my hearing is almost normal. I love listening to music. Your spelling and grammar is so good.

Sounds like me. I listen to music all the time.
Unless I tell people, most of them have no idea that I have any hearing loss because I've adapted and use lipreading a lot to help.

Oh thanks, I didn't really think about the grammar too much. I still remained in general education and used ASL while I was deaf.

I have a friend who is partially deaf and she loves to be around me because I make her feel normal when she is around me and other people

I was never embarrassed about my hearing loss until I reached middle school. Kids would tease me about it all the time. Then in high school, I became proud of my hearing loss again. Now I'm still proud of it. I was in mainstream and I never used sign language.

I'm quite proud of the fact I used ASL and I did not use hearing aids. All natural. :P

Anyone who couldn't communicate with me and didn't want to take the time to learn ASL wasn't worth my time.

I lost my left hearing aid because I was young and stupid, so I'm going to buy another hearing aid with my SSI money. My mom just needs to make an appointment and find out how much it'll be because our old insurance paid for half of it and we switched so now we don't get them for cheap anymore. LOL.

my dad should have learned.
he works at Boeing and he is almost deaf.
he's worn ear protection and mickey mouse ears his whole time too.
he just now got hearing aids and he hates them.

I'm back. My mom talked to the SSI people and now I'm going to be charged for rent, but the money will go into an account so I can be taken care of in the future.

Burger King is here for a short little bit. Lizzy is heading off to sleep, but I am here. :D! I see we're sharing information. Lizzy would share some, but she is heading to bed which means I am heading off to bed. Dx!
