A team is offered by Master Marakov a job that has a high reward. He says that it is more important than those on the board, but is not worthy of being Class A.

The job is top secret in order to not frighten the citizens of Magnolia. In the woods to the east is a Yeti. More powerful than those they would normally encounter, it seems that this Yeti has found some forbidden and evil artifact that is allowing him to become stronger with each passing day. The Yeti has a group of bodyguards that are trained in some unknown ancient arts. Defeat the bodyguards, the Yeti, and destroy the artifact.

What they don't know is that the new council is embarrassed over how easily their army was defeated and is experimenting with better training methods. They think they found a fool proof idea, and want Master Marakov to sent some of his guild members to test them without the guild members knowing. So the master agrees to the council's request and creates this "job" for a certain group in his guild.

Jolene woke up and looked at her ceiling. Yes hers. She smiled and rolled over in bed. She finally had a place of her own. She lived in an apartment next door to Lucy, her new friend. She thought about how hopeless yesterday had begun and how wonderful it turned out. Rising, she got dressed and went to make breakfast.

It all started yesterday when she walked into town. She noticed on the welcome sign that this place was Magnolia. She hadn't been here before and was looking for a place to get some breakfast when a red haired guy went flying across the street and landing in a heap. She remembered the shock and surprise of the moment. Then a taller man with black hair and bits of steal stepped out of the alley that the red haired kid had flown out of saying something about teaching manners. She had looked back and forth between the crumpled one and the smirking one... and impulsively decided to protect red. She called him red because she didn't know his name then.

Standing between the two, she had stared up at the other guy and told him to back off. He just grinned and asked if she was looking for a fight. Of course she said no. However he took it as a yes and came rushing towards her. She didn't have a choice. "Water Dragon's Roar!" She brought her hands to her mouth and blew. Water of all stages flew in a tornado at him and caught him by surprise. It threw him back and into the alley. Turning to red, she was surprised to see him standing there looking her over. Hey are you alright? He blinked and then grinned, Yeah of course. Name is Natsu.

She sighed. Then came the complications of explaining to their guild master who she was and why she had attacked one of their members. When it was straightened out, she had been asked to join. Liking the looks of the place and in need of work, she accepted. Now here she was with her own apartment with a friend next door. It was a dream come true. She just really needed to go work and get money to pay rent and buy groceries. Finishing breakfast, she cleaned up and headed out the door.

Upon reaching the guild hall, she went in and was greeted by Mirajane at the bar. Hey Mira! Mirajane smiled back, Hey come see this. It is your profile with the guild. I think you will like it. It looks all professional and everything.

Name: Jolene
Age: 24
Appearance: 5'8'', brown eyes, brown skin, blood type AB
Magic: Dragon Slayer - water
(Bio - Grew up in a single parent home with her mother and older brother. Mother works at a university. Brother went on some journey and has yet to return home.)

Jolene smiled and sighed. That is so cool and official! I'm going to go look at the jobs on the board. I really need to go earn some money or I will be stuck living in this zoo. She looked at the constantly drunk girl, the perpetually naked boy, the temper-fill woman, and the chaos of arguing men.

Sara walked down the streets of Magnolia not wanting to get lost. She had been an independent Mage since the last guild she was in had disbanded. She had done a few low level jobs to support herself and knew she had to get stronger before she joined another guild. She was hoping there were some that we're accepting new members. She sat on a bench to take a break after all the walking she had done. Sara was 5ft 2inches with short black hair , brown eyes and pale skin. She hoped that today would be the day she found a guild that wanted more members.

Jolene found an easy job she liked. She could do it before lunch if she hurried. She looked around to see if someone would come with her... and then decided against it. No one looked particularly motivated for a job. For a fight yes, but the job didn't require fighting. It seemed simple enough. Some low level acting group was in town and wanted flyers passed out. That was also why the pay wasn't as good as she wanted. Oh well. She let Myrajane know what she was up to and headed out. She went first to the auditorium where they were setting up and spoke with their manager.

She would be paid by the hour with bonuses if she did extra well. She agreed and then with a stack of flyers headed out. She tried talking to people and getting their interest, but as expected you can only get so many peoples attention at one time and explain about the play that night. After several hours of running after people and giving out flyers, she sat down on the edge of a fountain and sighed. There must be another way to get their attention. She glanced at her watched. She would go cash in and then head to lunch in a little bit. Best make a finale at this before calling it quits. She looked at the water beside her, and had an idea.

Setting the flyers on the edge of the fountain, she stood up and used her magic to create flowing rivulets around forms. The first form she made was a mermaid, and with that she started her narration. The crowds came near to listen to her dialogue with water pictures on the play of the Little Mermaid that was to be held tonight. She smiled as people started taking her flyers. Those flyers were their entry ticket to the theater tonight and the numbers in the corner would let the manager know it was her flyers that brought them in. Hence the bonuses.

Sara also found a job that sounded easy. She had gotten the job from a store owner and was to sort out the books into the category they fit in. She went to the back of the store and started to sort them. The all were old and some even were in a strange language. She was surprised at some of the titles, since she thought this wasn't a bookstore that carried magic books. A few hours later she finished and got paid. It was getting close to dinner and she had to find a place to stay for the nght. She walked the streets until she found a nice looking inn and sat at a table in the back, and watched the people as she ate her dinner.

Getting a smaller stack of those flyers, Jolene headed back to the guild. She ate lunch there with Mirajane explaining that it would be neat if Fairy Tail attended the play. Mirajane looked at the jokes and fights going on in the room and smiled. Jolene turned and thought of that rabble attending and started to chuckle. This was going to be interesting. All in the name of a better day. She rose and started walking through the room visiting and talking with her new friends. Soon she had most of the fliers handed out with vague promises of behaving. Erza Scarlet came over and clapped a hand on her shoulder, Don't worry, I'll make sure they stay in line. She smiled and winked. Jolene breathed easier and headed back to her apartment.

That evening she went to the play and enjoyed seeing how close her rendition at the water fountain was with the actual performance. The play wasn't half bad. She went backstage afterwards to get her bonuses. The manager couldn't stop talking about the huge crowd and how well it went. Happy to have the extra money, she put up with his over enthusiastic comments. Heading out into the night, she walked with Lucy back to their apartment complex. Lucy was an interesting friend. Normal compared to the other members of Fairy Tail except for obvious awareness of her looks. That was vaguely annoying but endurable. Saying good bye in the hall, Jolene went into her apartment for the night.

Sara went up to the room she had paid for and went to sleep. She had a feeling that tomorrow would be a better day in her search for a guild. The next morning she paid for the night and took her satchel into town. She had found a job, but owner of the shop need one other person to hand out fliers. The fliers were advertising the grand opening and was good for 10% off purchases made. Sara went to the middle of town, knowing there would be a good number of people there.

Jolene knocked on Lucy's door. Lucy opened it with an annoyed look on her face. Jolene blinked, What's wrong with you? Lucy sighed and stepped sideways. Jolene peaked in and gasped. Natsu, the ever hyper, fun, and obnoxious fire dragonslayer was passed out on Lucy's bed. Lucy stood there glaring at him. Jolene giggled and grabbed her arm to head to their guild Fairy Tail. Magnolia was so sweet to allow their guild to remain in town. They weren't always the easiest mages to deal with. Since getting here, Jolene had watched Natsu and Grey get into a scuffle in the park resulting in singed grass and frozen leaves. Complete opposites in elemental abilities, but completely the same on how quickly they fought with each other.

They started walking to the guild. Lucy asked, "Jolene, you took a really easy job yesterday. The pay isn't that great. Why don't you pick something that has more pay? Jolene shook her head, I didn't want to go on a job that might be too hard. I am not that experienced despite being a dragonslayer. I'm not that strong yet. Lucy thought a moment then brightened up, Get some guild members to help. Pick a job and then get one or two of us to come with you. If several guild members work well together, they tend to form teams. Teams generally stay together for future jobs too. What do you say? Jolene knodded. It sounded good. It would help her get to know the guild members better as well as them to know her. Though they were a pretty easy going group and had already accepted her.

There were already three other dragonslayers here though. Natsu was trained by a dragon who was elemental in fire. There was that scary black-haired guy he had been fighting when she first arrived. He was an iron dragonslayer. She was just glad she wasn't the only girl. Pity the third was a child. She was an air dragonslayer. Jolene had initially been excited when she learned what their focus as mages was. But just like her, their dragons who had trained them had all disappeared. That was disappointing. She really wanted to find Aquafina. Aquafina had taken her in when she was young and raised her like her own. Then one day, all the dragons just vanished.

Lucy walked into the guild with Jolene in tow. Mirajean smiled her happy grin from behind the bar counter and waved. Jolene glanced around and decided to pick another job first. She went to the board and looked at the notices and posters. Which one of these would help pay the bills? There was one requesting aid down by the ocean. Something about a seamonster that could come up onto land. The person who requested it was the local harbor master of that place. Evidently this seamonster was bad for business. She sighed. Two problems. First getting a guild member or two to help her. Second getting there. She could walk, but that would take awhile. The steam engine train didn't go past there. Finally she didn't have a horse or car. Looks like she was walking. It would take half the day to get there. She wouldn't be back until nightfall. She groaned.

Erza walked over and smiled, Having trouble picking out a job Jolene? Jolene knodded, Just a little. I was looking at this one, but I was hoping not to be gone all day. Erza laughed, This will only take a day. Count yourself lucky. Most people are gone overnight or for several days. Some places are just far away or harder than others. You need a hand with this one? Jolene brightened up. That would be great!"

Mirajane walked over and took the notice, I'll send a Fairy Tail messenger ahead of you to let them know we accept their job and are sending some guild members. Good luck Jolene. Erza, keep an eye on her for us won't you? She smiled sweetly at them. Master Marakov walked over, Jolene, when you get back come and see me. I have a job for a team. I think I will put you on that team. Jolene knodded and headed for the door.

Erza ran to catch up. They agreed to go stop by a grocery store and pick up provisions for lunch and supper. Jolene shouldered a backpack to carry supplies in and they headed towards the center of Magnolia.

Sara was handing out the fliers and was cautious around a few rough looking people. She knew from experience that it was best to be aware of one's surroundings. She would use her magic if it was needed, but she was good only at protection spells. She hoped things would stay calm.

Jolene and Erza was making their way across Magnolia when they saw a girl standing in the street handing out fliers. Jolene turned to Erza, Hey maybe there is a sale nearby. Come on, let's check it out. It won't take long. Erza raised an eyebrow, Getting sidetracked already and we aren't even out of town yet. Alright, let's go. They made their way through the street and townspeople towards the girl. Jolene smiled at her when they reached her, Hey we'll take a flier. What's it for?

(Out Of Character: Stealing from Fairy Tail makes a lot of this easy... but I can't for the life of me find a picture that I am happy with for my character. I might just end up attempting to draw her instead.)

( sounds like a good idea. I have a picture for my chacter and will post it when I can get to my laptop. )

" Hello . Are you interested in a flier? Delia's wares is having a grand opening today and will give 10% off purchases when you present this flier. " Sara said to the crowd, and was glad people were interested. She just hoped she had enough fliers.

Erza moved past Jolene and stepped forward, We'll take one ma'am. We are heading out on a job for our guild and could use some supplies. Might as well get them at a discount. She smiled and tried to look friendly. Not that she wasn't friendly, it was just that most people (especially those in Magnolia) knew she was a tough cookie. She was in the Sorcerer Magazine for the first time when she became the youngest mage to reach S-Class. In her guild, she was also a disciplinary figure who broke up fights and didn't tolerate breaking rules. Basically Erza had a name for herself and no matter how nice she was, no one forgot it.

Sara gave them the flier with a smile. She was glad to finally meet a friendly face here in the square. It was the last flier she had and was glad to be done. The people that had been watching her didn't look happy that she didn't have any left. She had to be ready to defend herself in case they decided to make any trouble for her.

Erza took the flyer and looked it over with Jolene. Jolene looked at her and asked, Okay, so how do we get there? I'm new in town remember. Erza laughed and pulled her along. They went to the store and picked up some supplies. They make sure that everything was carefully packed in their bags. Then they went on outside. Jolene checked the time on the nearby clock. Hmmm... not much to work with. They might end up getting back later than she was going to like. They started heading out of town.

Sara drew a line with her foot in front of her and put her hands in front of her . " Barrier level 4!" She said as the ground rose where the line had been drawn and hoped it would stop those out to get her.Sara ran toward the store knowing that she was going to be followed once the barrier was broken. She had to stay in town long enough to collect her pay and then would sleep in the woods tonight, feeling that it would be safer.

Seeing the girl who had handed them the flyer come running towards them, Jolene and Erza stopped. Jolene frowned and asked Erza, Are the townspeople chasing her? Is that normal? Erza shook her head. Either she just committed a horrible crime in front of them or there is something dark and mysterious at work here. Can you hold them at bay while I scout around? Maybe I can figure out what is responsible for this rioting attitude.

Jolene widened her stand and raised her hands in front of her while Erza leaped back and up. Unlike Jolene, who was a dragonslayer, Erza had equip magic. She specialized in fighting in different armors. Each gave her different abilities and attributes as well as weaknesses. She was automatically wearing The Knight armor and gracefully jumped to the rooftops and disappeared.

Trusting her to find the source of this negative emotions, Jolene turned towards the people and prepared to keep them from hurting themselves and others. Water Dragon Wall! She threw up a huge wall of water between the people and the running girl. Water Dragon Cyclone! Spinning, she forced the huge wall to start rotating until the people were trapped in the middle. She stood there, bracing against her magic and struggling to maintain focus. She wasn't used to using magic on such large scale. She wasn't used to using magic ever.

Erza stood on a rooftop and glared down at the funny little wrinkled man standing on the balcony below. Why are you taking such pleasure in this? Does it amuse you? He turned and gasped, then sent black and dark knives flying towards her. She dodged and tranformed into Heaven's Wheel Armor. Spinning ten swords around her in a circle, she pointed them at him and let them fly. Something caught the corner of her eye. She turned and was distracted. On the chimneys were black spikes and they looked like they were emitting black energy.

Sara stopped as she knew the people weren't chasing her. She would help the two who had helped her when they needed it. She knew something wasn't right, but couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was .

" Of course it amuses me." He said getting ready to block the attack.

Erza equipped another ten swords an jumped above him. Pretending to send them flying at him, she let them purposefully miss in order to fly past him. Straight for a few of those black spikes. As one of the swords hit one of the spikes, it cracked and blew up. Black negative energy rose into the air and went away.

Jolene struggled with her hold on her water dragon magic. She fell to her knees and bowed her head under the mental strain. The cyclone wall became a bit smaller, but was still holding.

Sara could see that the girl who had came to help her was having trouble. Sara drew a line on the ground and said ," Barrier Level 5, forward . She said as the barrir rose from the ground and went to support the water one. She felt she should help , knowing it was the right thing to do. Barrier 5 was the highest level she had mastered and was working on learning level 6. Sara focused on keeping the barrier up , knowing the longer it was up the better chance it would stay up.

Jolene felt her water wall reinforced and gratefully lifted her head. She glanced and grinned at the girl and then turned her attention back to the water wall.

Erza's other swords hit the spikes that they had been aimed at. They also broke with crackling and explosions. With her attention turned to them, she didn't see the blow that hit her square in the stomach. Being tough, she regained control over her fall and hovered to a stop. Then she turned and flew at the man. He wouldn't use ranged attacks and sly methods unless he was weak against physical close quarters fights. She was good at figuring out weaknesses. She equipped another sword into her hand and flew straight for him.

Jolene gritted her teeth, wondering if the source of the common folks hatred had been found yet. Suddenly all pressure against her water wall was gone. Hesitantly, she lowered it down and looked at the townspeople. They were standing there blinking and looking confused. With a sigh, she sat down on the ground. Looking up, she saw Erza flying down with a limp and unconcious form.

Erza landed and requipped her Knight Armor on. Looks like we have some dark mage here. Hope I didn't just anger a dark guild somewhere. I'm going to drag him to the police. They can deal with him. I'll be back in a jiffy. With that she walked off dragging the old man behind her.

Jolene watched her go. That old guy was the cause of all this? Why did that give her a headache. She mentally pushed it aside for review later. Standing, she turned to the new mage that had helped her. Hey, my name is Jolene. Are you okay? She reached out her hand for a handshake.

Jolene knodded, "Yeah, that was weird. Normally people avoid those handing out fliers. She looked at Sara and cocked her head to the side, "So you are a mage? Do you belong to a guild or are you a freelancer?" She was pretty impressed with Sara's ability. She wondered if Sara was a general mage or if she had any specialties.

Wow, so you have had experience in both areas. I'm really new to being on my own. I was raised, obviously, by a dragon since I use Dragon Slayer magic. Since I have been on my own, I haven't done much except look for a guild that could be a family for me. I found that here in Magnolia. The magic guild here is Fairy Tail. They are a rambunctious lot but a lot of fun. You can be yourself around them. Today is my second full day with them. I like it. So how is freelancing going for you? Jolene was impressed with Sara. It took guts to be on your own. You couldn't get jobs as easily since most people sent job notices to the guild boards or approached a specific guild personally. You had to have quite the reputation to get jobs without a guild, which meant more work to pay the bills. Jolene didn't mind working, but she liked to have her fair share of fun.

" It's going alright I guess. It is hard finding jobs in some places, though it does depend on how big the area is and what type of magic they need. I know barrier magic. My father taught me how to use the ground as a barrier when I was old enough. " Sara said, not mentioning that she was in Magnolia looking for a guild to join, though she knew some guilds were nearly impossible to get into. " The guild you are sounds really interesting ." She said looking around still feeling nervous about what had happened earlier.
