It just bothers me... immature peoples... Why must I live among them (my roommate included..) Give it 2 more weeks and they're done with me. I'm not here next semester and hopefully transferring to live in the dorms again - come Fall '13.

Nemo, it's hard to know without actually hearing the way they said it....I can see how you can feel hurt, and if I were the same position I'd probably feel the same. But there is also the possibility that they did not mean it to come across that way. They were probably surprised. I hope you don't feel down about this for too long.

Angel: I started at 18 but changed majors 2 years in and due to lack of funding to schools in California I am taking ages to get through the program and I have always lived in the dorms, and it works for me -- they are here for students... who says that I can not be here due to my age... as far as I am aware, for the most part there isn't an age limit for staying in the dorms.

My school has not kicked me out - I get fairly decent grades, and my GPA is pretty good... I am not a slacker (like some of the people who I know who live in the dorms -- my roommate has managed to fail out of ALL of her classes this semester). IF there is anyone who doesn't belong here - it is those people.

Ling: It was kinda said in a snooty tone of voice that was like condescending - or at least that's how I heard it. I think it is also because I am feeling old myself lately, due to some friends and playful banter, but just makes me feel even older living with a girl who never goes to class and makes me feel even older. Especially also with the fact that we have a 26 year old RA -- they should be going to him, asking him why he is still here in school... my honest response when they asked why I was still here "I am going to school to get an education, like you."

And that's a fair enough response indeed Nemo! If it weren't for American tv and movies I would sometimes forget that it's common for uni students to stay in dorms.

And don't worry, you're not that old for a uni student...I'm older than you and I'm still a uni student...

My mum is in her late 50's and is still in college. She just made it to CSUS. =] But of course she is living at home, but still... It's more that they think I shouldn't still be in the dorms that bothered me... And I am here for learning, not for partying and not going to classes (like my roommate). >.< MY roommate has managed to fail out of ALL of her classes this semester. >.<

How do you fail? D: I have a 96% right now and I plan to be raising that as soon as I can.

She stopped going to all of her classes.... all she does is sit around the dorms, and watch stuff on her laptop. >.< Believe me, I am annoyed, because if she isn't going to class, she has time to clean (her half of the room is a freaking mess) and yet she never cleans. >.<

That girl is most likely on a very fast track to getting kicked out.

There's a lot of older people going to school these days. Plus, I believe there are majors that take longer than 4 years to get through. You aren't even that old, really. The fact this seems to surprise your peers is what boggles my mind.

Citrus: Haha, oh - I am fully aware of it -and she thinks that if she gets kicked out that they won't charge her for next semesters dorm fees... they probably will kick her out and still charge her. And I'll be the one laughing. And saying "I TOLD YOU SO!"

It's because most of the people who are here are directly out of HS and are 17 or almost 18 so to them... omg.... 24.... SO F'ing old! And it just pisses me off, because honestly. We are all here to go to school... why does it matter how old I am? Seriously?

I'm not calling myself old, Poet.... Sometimes I am just saying I feel old --- due to the fact that my brother who I still see as being little just turned 19... Not that I really am old... does that make sense? And I was using old in the sense that those who are really here at school in the dorms where I live are way younger too (fresh out of HS)... Yeah?

Ah. Poet is 23, so poet understands the "feeling old" thing.

Yeah - not saying that I am old. But that sometimes living around immature young-lings makes me feel older that I should, does that make sense?.

NaNoWriMo is not a game... it is a personal challenge...

How NaNoWriMo Works... (from the NaNoWriMo site)

Another link to a step by step thing into the site and what it is about in a way

But in short, here is the basic gist:
Quote:
That’s all there is to it! Occasionally, participants write in to ask about the rules of the event. We don’t have many! But because we’ve found that creativity is often heightened by constraints (and communities bolstered by shared goals) we have evolved a handful of rules over the years. The rules state that, to be an official NaNoWriMo winner, you must…

Write a 50,000-word (or longer!) novel, between November 1 and November 30.
Start from scratch. None of your own previously written prose can be included in your NaNoWriMo draft (though outlines, character sketches, and research are all fine, as are citations from other people’s works).
Write a novel. We define a novel as a lengthy work of fiction. If you consider the book you’re writing a novel, we consider it a novel too!
Be the sole author of your novel. Apart from those citations mentioned two bullet-points up.
Write more than one word repeated 50,000 times.
Upload your novel for word-count validation to our site between November 25 and November 30.
