Ohh, that's cool, Dolly! :D
I've never known a colorist before.
I bet it's a fun job!
I always have to go to a black hair salon to get my hair dyed whenever I do because other salons usually don't know how to dye biracial hair. :C

Well that's stupid every hair salon should know how to color every hair don't you think? I mean you're missing a lot of business if you don't know how to do that.

You'd think so, hummy!
But apparently, most salons don't know how to handle curly hair at all.
The last salon I went to (before I got my hair cut), I asked if they could dye my hair a dark blonde and the stylist looked at my hair and then said she had to ask her manager something, came back and said that because my hair is so dark (dark brown?!) that they would have to bleach my hair in about 4-5 sessions and each session would cost $85 or something.... And on top of that, they said it would probably only lighten my hair ONE shade....
It was obvious that they really didn't know what they were doing. I've had stylists lighten my hair in less than 4-5 sessions, and each session certainly didn't cost $85!
A lot of stylists also think my hair would take hours and hours to straighten... I went to a black salon and the lady took ONE hour to straighten my hair. I mean, blow dry AND flat iron... in ONE hour.

Truth be told, in my country we dont have many instances of afro or tight curls. Its mostly White or Asian or Pacific hair and ALL OF THEM ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
It comes down to the cuticle of the hair. Under a microscope, someone with naturally straight hair (asian hair is the best exmple), the hair is perfectly circular when seen end on. Afro hair has an almost flat cuticle, giving it it's curl and texture. It also changes the hairs resistence to colours. Either end of the spectrum has a high percentage of melanin in the hair which makes bleaching difficult to predict and out come of.
But in saying this, I have had some really beautiful results with most hair types. It's just, with afro hair, I get scared to brush it. I would be stumped if I had to cut your hair Ava.
HUMMY- yes you name any colour and Ive dyed someone that before lol

what is the favorite color of yours that you've dyed someone's hair? And did it turn out better than you thought it would?

Well I think that's just about the perfect answer. If your hair colorist doesn't like her own hair color that's pretty bad and might be a red flag.

That makes sense.
A lot of people don't know how to brush curly hair. My own mom didn't know how to do my hair when I was little. xD She used to take a horse hair brush and yank it through my hair from top to bottom and rip out a lot of my hair and it hurt so bad that I used to fight and scream. My neighbors could hear it often and they'd just say, "Oh, Ava is getting her hair brushed."
Now I learned that you're supposed to use a wide toothed comb and you're supposed to start from bottom to top.

Have you ever tried any of the Wen Hair Care Products? I used some of my godmother's and boy did it make it easy to comb my hair. His products say there for everyone. His cleanser isn't really a shampoo it doesn't like foam up and strip the color out of your hair and then he's got like a leave-in conditioner. It's really nice she had the lavender kind and it smelled really pretty.

I have heard of Wen.
I don't know where to buy it, so I've never tried it myself. :)
I currently use a product for curly hair called Miss Jessie's Multicultural Curls.
I have to layer my products in a certain way to get the results I want..
So I start with a leave in conditioner, then Miss Jessie's, then oil.

wide tooth and bottom to top is the BEST WAY to comb every type of hair imo :D
I have wavy hair and my mother also made me cry and scream when she brushed my hair. So much so, she thought it would be less painful to cut it very very VERY short (approx 5cm long) when I was 6. Everyone thought I was a boy and it scarred me for life. So yeah, parents need to educate themselves lolol.

my god mother got hers from QVC. But I think when is from California so you might be able to find it there. But I think probably only in the salons of the guy that invented it. And I can't remember his name I can picture it but I can't remember his name. It's like the 25th year anniversary this year. Oh yeah it's Chaz something. I know I'm a great help, aren't i?
