Ling: I won NaNoWriMo. I keep forgetting I really did that. 2013 was a strange year. I can't remember my account details for an unrelated website and it's making me sad. Oh well.

Thank you much friends. How is life going? Drinking enough water? Tearing down class barriers? Getting enough vitamin D?

I am drinking enough water yes, but my vitamin D intake is suspect. I need to either take my supplement or go get some sun.
Sorry you have the flu. Being sick is rough. Drink extra water, if you can. Idk why but drinking loads of water seems to help with getting better sooner. Hope you feel better soon friend.

Hi Kayxx: I'm well, thank you for asking. It is interesting that you mentioned in particular drinking enough water and getting enough vitamin D...because they were both things I had been lacking until recent times.
I live in Australia, currently we're in our summer season, and we have been experiencing periods of extreme heat, our hottest recorded temperature day ever was not that long ago...it was that extreme...
Anyway, because of the heat and all the sweating and thirstiness associated with being in a very hot place (even room temperatures without aircon were so hot at times I felt like I was in a sauna that I could only escape from if I went to an airconditioned room...) I have been drinking heaps more water lately, just to maintain hydrated. I think it's a good thing too...vulnerable people have been known to die from heat stroke in these types of weather conditions.
Several months ago I a routine blood test which I need to do, once in a while. Soon after I got a call from the receptionist at the doctor's surgery saying that "Your blood test results are bad, when can you come in?" Due to conflicts in time and available appointment times, my appointment to see the doctor to find out what was wrong with my blood test was about a week after I got the call...
I was anxious the whole time, I thought "OMG, do I have a high cholesterol, high glucose, diabetes, heart problems..." Now I'm not sure if a blood test result can actually tell you about diabetes or heart problems but I was ridiculously worried that I kept ended up choosing not to eat sweet and fatty foods....you know...potato chips and chocolate and pretty much generally the foods that are considered junk food, food to have some times...because of the health problems I presumed I could possibly have that I would have been diagnosed with and told to me at the appointment...
What ended up happening after the anxious hour long wait in the doctor's surgery...because I go to a busy surgery, the doctor called me in to the consultation room, like usual, first thing I asked was, "What did my blood test results show?" the doctor had probably forgotten about telling the receptionist that I had 'bad' blood test results because the doctor was looking through and saying "yeah, everything looks normal, cholesterol, glucose...(and whatever else was tested) Ah, actually, you have very low Vitamin D levels."
I was sooo relieved as soon as I heard that...because actually I didn't know what being low in vitamin D meant at the time, but just knowing that I didn't have high glucose, which to me is a sign of diabetes, or high cholesterol, which to me is a sign of possible build up of fat in the arteries etc....don't quote me on those.
So the doctor prescribed a once off high dose of vitamin D in a syringe, which I was instructed squirt onto a piece of bread and eat. The doctor also told me to take vitamin D supplements daily from now on...which is what I now do...Apparently being really low in Vitamin D can make a person very tired, I feel a lot more energetic now than I did prior to taking the supplements.

Glad to hear you're keeping hydrated Ling! I wasn't aware that they prescribed Vitamin D that way (or I knew and forgot), so that's interesting. I don't know my vitamin D levels myself. I don't think my doctor ordered them. He ordered loads of other things, but not vitamin D levels. I'm probably going to try to supplement, or get outside more often, because I am chronically low energy, and I know it's not because I lack vitamin B or C, or sleep, or caffeine. (not a vitamin but hey) Never thought of vitamin D as a possible culprit though.
The questions about drinking enough water and getting enough vitamin D were really off the cuff, and I guess I included them because they're things that have recently become important to me? (well drinking enough water was always important but the vitamin D concerns are new.) Also this tumbleh post made me laugh and I wanted to ask how y'all were doing in that format for no reason :P

Hehe...I just it was a strange coincidence that you mention those two things...water because I have been drinking soo much more than usual, and it's been good, so I'll try to maintain drinking more water...even when it's not ridiculously hot...And the vitamin D because I had been extremely deficient not that long ago, and not realising because it is sunny here and I do go out and walk from place to place...
Apparently Vitamin D deficiency is surprisingly common in Australia for whatever reason, despite the fact that it is often very sunny here compared to other places, and as we all know, most of our vitamin D is absorbed from exposure to sunlight.

That is strange about Australia. I might really start supplementing more regularly then, because I haven't been outside much at all. Why I might take a supplement right now! It's just about breakfast time anyway.

Mur. People keep busting into my room to complain about the carpet, things out of place (but those aren't your things or even communal things calm down), washing up, etc. I knew I should have locked the door. Also, why doesn't my v key work right? Is it trying to tell me something? Something about the 5th of November? Well I was going to remember the 5th of November in any case. And in any case, Guy Fawkes day doesn't even have a V in it.
Damia, do come back. I'm typing into the abyss otherwise.
