Made something interesting last night as well...it turned out funny. Replaced water with broth to steam rice.

Sayomi - Generally, yes. But all recipes have to be quoted, since there's no real way of checking whether or not you wrote it yourself or not. Some people could copy exact recipes but change one thing, or make up a recipe all by themself but it would coincidentally be identical to a published recipe. So as a blanket rule, all recipes have to be quoted.

Okay! Here's my... vaguely italian... pasta... thing. (If any of you like this and end up jotting it down on a recipe card, I fully expect you to title it like that! "Chery's vaguely italian... pasta... thing.")

1 cup pasta
1 can vegetable broth (approx. 2 cups, if you use bouillon)
Thickly chopped asparagus (maybe just below half a pound? I'm guessing here)
3 slices onion, chopped
1 thick slice bell pepper, chopped
Parmesan
2 tbsp margarine
Italian seasoning
Basil
Pepper

Boil noodles according to directions, using vegetable broth instead of water. Do not drain.

Put margarine in large pan and heat. There should be enough to cover the bottom of the pan as you'll be using it instead of oil to sautee. If using fresh asparagus, add that first and sautee until almost tender before adding onion and bell pepper. If using frozen asparagus, add all vegetables at the same time. Use the seasonings to your taste.

Add noodles and the broth (save a bit if making the side dish below) they're in to the pan and stir, adding more seasoning as necessary. Let sit on low heat for a few minutes. Stir in parmesan and serve.
This makes a very small amount, so if you're serving more than 2, you will want to double it. You will also want a side dish with it. Here's what I had with it.

Remove with oven mitts as it will be very hot.
And if you like that, you can have it any time, it's so quick and easy. Normally I use tap water instead of broth, and you can use any spices you like. :boogie:

Oooh, thats a good policy! Thanks for explaining it, Cherry. I'm kinda dumb sometimes, so I need a lil more explaining than your average Mene person xD

Is it weird that I've never had asparagus before? Anyway, that recipe looks yummy. I may have to try it.

Thanks Cherry! :eager:

Asparagus was one of those vegetables that I mostly heard that no one liked, but I love it now.
I want to try this recipe.

Hey guys,
It's been a couple days hasn't it? I'm assistant stage managing a play that opens Wednesday. We've begun rehearsing every day from about 5 to 10! I can't believe I devote that much time to a non-paying commitment sometimes. So, guys: Do even of you have some Easter-related recipes? Have you/will you start a thread in the Bunnyfest forum?

Sayomi - Nah, lots of people haven't had asparagus. It's really good, though! But since you've never had it, I'll warn you: it will make your pee smell funny. Like, really weird. But that's completely normal and fine. But I imagine that could freak someone out if they didn't know, thinking they must be sick or something.

You can also prepare asparagus by itself in the same way that I mentioned steaming brussel sprouts. But instead of 6 minutes, it only need about 3. And I personally would recommend it seasoned with Greek seasoning and parmesan.

Iku - Same! I think I had tried a bit of it when my mom was on a bit asparagus kick... but the smell kept turning me off. Man, it smells bad sometimes. But after I went vegetarian I was getting kind of tired of the same vegetables over and over, so mom recommended I try it again and I did and fell in love. Though brussel sprouts are currently my vegetable obsession.

DeLish - What's the play?

Joe Turner's Come and Gone by August Wilson. It's set in 1911 about black residents in a boarding home lost in life trying to find their way again: main character Loomis has been snatched by Joe Turner and wants to find his wife; Mattie's man has just up and left her and she wants to use the powers of the conjure man to bring him back; Jeremy's got his priorities out of order; Molly doesn't know how to properly be with a man...

I love the spiritual aspect of it. I get swept into the scene every time to intense spiritual events happen. These actors know how to grab an audience!

DeLish - Sounds interesting! I hope it goes well! :D

Sayomi - It has to do with the sulfur in them. There's more than the body can take in, so some of it comes out in your pee, just like any other vitamin you get too much of. It's just that sulfur has a much stronger smell than most vitamins and minerals.

That one does look good. It made me think of a recipe I used to make for Valentines day.
Raspberry Truffle Cups Recipe from Betty Crocker

I have tried a few different flavor variations on it.

Yum! I tried searching the image, but not much came up. There was one for green tea mousse, but I definitely don't think it's that. XD Maybe raspberry mouse.

Yeah, probably some sort of pink fruit. Raspberry sounds like a good choice, since there doesn't seem to be much of it inside the cup.
