Yeah...I'd LOVE to know what idiot did the math and figured that $15 is enough to buy groceries for two people, because I want to smash their face into a wall.

Maybe there are some food banks or churches that can help you get some food.

Hopefully. I know the Salvation Army down the street does, but anyplace else.... *shrugs*
Then of course I've got the added problems of a) transportation (I don't have a DL, and mom doesn't get back until sometime around five in the afternoon from babysitting) and b) whether or not I'll be allergic to what they give me, because that has happened before. Not joking, one time when we were asked about any allergies in the household we told them (tree nuts on my end, spinach and cranberries for mom and yes I know my mom's food allergies are left-field-land)...and almost everything we got in the package contained exactly what we were allergic to.
Guys, I don't care if it's healthy and we're broke-ass, but any health benefits and free food donations are not going to nullify the fact that I literally can't eat nutella or walnuts or pecans, or anything that contains them because I will literally be unable to breathe. Being under the poverty line doesn't make food allergies go away and dear gods I'd be sooo happy if it did XP.

You might also see if the Catholic Archdiocese may have a charity organization in your area.
You don't have to be catholic to recieve (usually one time) services such as food vouchers or gift cards or help paying rent.
They should also be able to point you toward other food pantry possibilities.

@ Inzane: I know, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was either. I know there's a dioces or an archdioces in the next city over, but that's about an hour-hour and a half drive and I don't know if that just serves that city, or that city and the surrounding area...or even if where I live would even be in the "surrounding area" of said city.
Yeah, I kinda live in the middle of nowhwere XP. You've got to drive an hour and a half to get to the nearest "major" city...northern Illinois sucks.
@ hummy: Apparently you're better at math than Illinois lawmakers XP.

You could see if any local churches sponser any food pantries.
We all know that there are more people than just you who are in need...which makes me think that there has to be a charity in your area that could help you. $15 dollars won't even buy enough potatoes for 1 person to eat for a month...much less any meat or milk!
Sometimes churches have free meals...its usually not very good spaghetti, but its better than being hungry.

True, and there are charities in my are...but again, there's the issue of transportation. The only place that's close enough to get to on foot is the Salvation Army, since it's only a couple blocks away. Everywhere else would need a car to get to, something I don't have access to during the day.
I'm honestly not even sure if going to a pantry every month would be enough to shore up the gaps....
And you're right about the potatoes, unless you have like one a day. And when I say one a day, I mean one potato for both people. As for meat...forget it. Same with produce. Cheese is in the same category as meat...and chocolate. Milk is a maybe, if I have enough left over from getting the monthly allotment of ramen and maybe a can of soup or tuna or canned veggies or beans as a splurge.
Yeah. Canned condensed soup is now considered a "splurge" for me. Hello malnutrition, good to know that us poor people apparently don't need the same fancy things like produce and meat and cheese as everyone else.....

I wish I could help you more...
All I can suggest is if you call any churches or charities and explain your case about having no transportation. I would have to think that some kind person would be willing to deliver you a care package.
Also state your case to the Salvation Army.
Is panhandling banned in your area? Maybe you can stand on a corner with a sign stating "Starving! Anything Helps!" ? (If you choose to do this, wear ragged clothes and make yourself look homeless!)
I am hoping that something comes through for you!

X'D So am I, and I have no idea about the panhandling thing...knowing my town, probably. It's the type of city that'll ban a perfectly good festival or event simply because of a few drunk people starting an incident once.
'course, even if it wasn't, I doubt the town culture here would lend itself to kindness. The town I live in is kinda...well, it's a cesspool.

Corn relish is kind of like pickle relish but has corn and onion and bell peppers in it, amongst other things.

Oh my goodness it's all really good together. I'm sad that you don't like either of those. I can't eat green bell peppers I always use red orange or yellow bell peppers in the corn relish

@taiyo most lawmakers only care about the money going into their own pockets and the welfare of their own family. God forbid they actually do what they are elected to do: represent their people and look out for everyone's best interest regardless of party lines.

Peoppe act like they have never made anything vegan in their life. My mom has this recipe for chocolate cake that she always used to make for my birthday and her birthday and anyone's birthday that she was making a chocolate cake for. Well guess what, after 40 years of making this cake she found out that the recipe is actually vegan. So you never know hehe.

I found a vegan food blog by accident one day when I was making snickerdoodles but didn't have eggs, so I found a pair of rather tasty recipes there; mexican hot chocolate and chai spice snickerdoodles. Both recipes are vegan, and both veeeerrrryyyy tasty ^^. They went into the Book of Foodporn.
Lemme see if I can find the links....

It's also appropriate, because it's full of FOODPORN
And here's the links! I hope they work, anyway.

Apparently the chai spice snickerdoodles is no longer a thing on that site, boo. But that's the same place I found those, too.
