Yeah. . . That is a pretty damn jumpy game. xD
I love it, already.
Silent hill 2 made me jump, A LOT, when I first played it.
Silent hill 3 did a little too.

It's just "Obscure". No weird capitalization. I don't know where that got started, but I see it a lot of places...and it kind of bugs me. "ObsCure" would make no sense. Who's Ob? They aren't in the game. Why is it their cure? Anyway, though, I actually checked this a few times. On the title screen, in the memory files, and in the literature it is never called "ObsCure"...it's just "Obscure". Small gripe. Don't mind me.
The second one had a really heavy-handed "say no to drugs" message that really killed the mood for me, though.

Alan Wake is scary when you first start out, but less so as you get farther along. I guess it's just because there's not a whole lot of "new" stuff to scare you as you go, so you get used to what the game throws at you.
I can see how people would think Dead Space is scary, but I've never been immersed in it so I can't really say it's ever scared me. My husband can't play it more than an hour at a time though because he gets freaked out xD
Fatal Frame can be really flipping scary, but unlike Amnesia (as far as I can tell) you can actually kill the stuff trying to kill you. Still has terrifying moments.
Eternal Darkness is probably the first game that scared the pants off of me, and the first time I was exposed to a sanity meter. I can't believe no one else mentioned it o3o
Minecraft, because CREEPERS and ENDERMEN. UGH. And the ambient cave noises sometimes make me jump, but also make me excited because that means I'm next to another cave shaft :boogie: In general though, it's not really that scary. :)
Zombie games make me tense up, but not any more so than any other game with similar gameplay. The zombies do not really make it scary to me.

I'm going to agree with the Eternal Darkness group here. It was surprisingly dark for a Gamecube title, and I loved it. I don't jump so much anymore, but the first time I saw that bathtub scene... (Yeah, if you've played it, you know what I mean.)
