Xu waited by the door for Quistis to finish her work so that they could get started on sparing. They met every day for sparing and weapon training. It was a time for the two of them to be themselves and not care what others thought. It was a time for them to talk about non-SeeD things. They had fun while they did this. It was slowly coming to be what Xu looked forward to everyday.

Quistis was finally done with her work for the day, it seemed like these new students were not taking their studies very seriously. She sighed to herself, maybe she would have to be more strict on the next test. When she left the room she found Xu waiting for her there, a smile crossed her face upon seeing her. At least the day wasn't going to be so bad. She had recently let her hair down after a student told her she 'looked like an old lady.'

"How do I look?" she asked Xu pointing to her hair, "Do I look younger?"

Xu said, "I really think that you look good either way. Though I suggest a ponytail or something for sparing. I don't think that it would be smart to try to battle a monster and have your hair in your face." She smiled though. She thought that Quistis was lovely either way. She just didn't want her blonde friend to loose her head.

"True," Quistis smiled, "shall we get going then?" She wasn't sure why Xu hung around her so much lately, but it was nice to speak to someone who wasn't either an emo, anti-social person or a complete bubble head. The way she waited around for her was also very cute. "Thank you for waiting for me, I hope you didn't wait long." She told her as she walked beside her. tying up her hair as she did.

Xu was glad that they were heading out. "I didn't wait long. I just got here about five minutes before class let out. I don't mind really. I didn't have anything else to do." They walked in silence to the door of the Training hall. Xu turned to Quistis, "Do you want to do magic sparring today?"

Quistis listening to her as she brought her trusty whip along with her. "What sort of magic?" she asked as she looked around for a perfect spot to practice, "Just try to keep your clothes on this time," she giggled. The last time they practiced magic she almost blew Xu's skirt up with a gust of wind, it was purely accidental, but she could still remember what she saw that day.

"Well I was thinking something along the lines of low leveled magic. Fire, Blizzard. That kind of thing. Just to see how long it takes us to kill off a Trexsaur. It could be fun." Xu was thinking of that day to by what Quistis said. She remembered that day very well. She even remembered what the two of them had ate for lunch that day. It makes me feel almost like a stalker... Xu thought with annoyance. That's exactly what she would seem like if Quistis ever found out that Xu had a crush on her.

"If we don't get killed that is," Quistis reminded her. Those were very dangerous and there have been some casualties among the younger students, mostly because they were unprepared. "Remember to run if it gets too tough," she reminded her.

"I wont forget. I was the one that taught you that rule when you first got here. That is if you remember that?" Xu raised an eyebrow at her friend and checked her magic.

"Hmm...how long ago was that?" she couldn't remember, or maybe she was just teasing her. She was already to go"Hmm.. after you then," she mentioned looking at her as she secretly observed her curves.

Xu walked into the Training Hall. She was ready for a stress release. A good fight would do that. "It was a few years ago. I must have a better memory then you then." She teased right back.

(Time skip? I'm going brain dead a bit here xD )

(Yeah sure.)

Xu stepped out of the showers. It had been a long day, and it wasn't even over yet. She still had to eat. Then she had to go through some reports and figure out the teams for the next couple of assignments.

Heading to the Cafeteria, Xu thought about what she was going to be ordering. She wanted something light. She didn't really feel up to eating, but knew that if she didn't she could get sick. She stood in line and read the day's menu. When it was her turn she ordered a simple vegitable sandwich. Looking around she noticed Squall and Rinoa sitting with Quistis. She walked over and sat down. "Hello everyone."

Quistis was in her own little world by the time Xu had appeared she just waved the other two off seeing as there was something they needed to talk to Selphie about. "Oh hello," she smiled kindly at her, "Good timing, now I won't be lonely." she told her as she looked at her plate. "I'm just about done here though."

Xu nodded as she sat down across from Quistis. "I'm not going to be long either. I'm not really all that hungry today. Besides the sooner that I eat the sooner I can get the reports done." Xu sighed. She hated the reports. They had to be the worst part of her day. But they had to be done. Otherwise the Garden wouldn't be bringing in any Gil. "What do you have planned for after you eat?"

"Nothing, I'm free for the rest of the day." She told her as she finished, "Maybe I can help you?" She smiled at her a light flush on her face, the idea of being alone with her made her feel slightly nervous, but why?

"What sort of reports are you doing?" She leaned against the table looking at her, "Anything really important?"

"Just setting up the next few missions. And the filing the reports from this last SeeD exam." Xu sighed, "I just wish that we had someone to take John's place. He was better at the reports and mission details then me." She took the last bite of her sandwich and took a swig of water. Picking up her tray she nodded to Quistis. "Two heads are better then one. At least in this case."

"Oh good so that means yes?" She beamed at her while trying not to look like a creeper.

Xu said, "I wouldn't be inviting you along if not." She giggled. She headed towards the counter to rid herself of her tray. Then she planned to head up to her office on the third floor.

"You have a point," Quistis told her as she followed after her, of course it would be a boring day but at least she would have some company.

Xu and Quistis walked up to Xu's office. Pointing to a chair across the desk from hers, Xu sat down. She shuffled the papers on her desk a bit and then handed a stack to Quistis. "You can do these. They're reports from the last exams. I'll take mission requests." She placed the stack of mission requests down in front of herself.

Over the next few hours, Xu worked in what she was a companionable silence with Quistis. Finally half way through the pile she came to a strange request. It was a girl's school that needed new teachers. They seemed to be going missing and some of the girls were disappearing as well. She sat and looked at it for a few more minutes. There was something about this particular request that seemed to grab at her chest. It could've been the fact that the request stated that the first teacher to have gone missing was found dead a week later. She imagined the pain she would feel if it was one of her few friends. Then a slip in thought made her think of it as Quistis. She choked.

A thought came to her. She hadn't been out in the field in quite a long time. It would be a good experience. But to take someone else with her? She thought about it. None of the other teachers or the girls were found dead, but they weren't even found at all. She didn't want to suggest it to Quistis because of the fact that she didn't want to loose her closest friend and crush. But Quistis was the best teacher that they had at the Garden.

"How would you like to go on a mission with me?" The words just spilled out of Xu's mouth before she could think of it anymore.

Quitis was looking through the reports, nothing too exciting. She had to hand it to Xu for having to do this everyday. She didn't see the report Xu picked up, nor did she notice her acting strangely until she spoke to her.

"A mission? What's wrong?" Of course she would readily go, no matter how dangerous it was. She had been in worse situations before.

Xu read the request out loud to Quistis. "It says that there is an all girl's school in Galbadia that has been having a strange string of disappearances. The first teacher to disappear was found dead in a shed a week later during a soccer game. She was the soccer coach, so they've had to stop the girls from playing. Right now they're requesting two teachers. They've been unable to fill the soccer coach position and the History teacher position." Looking up to make the comment of, "We would fit for the positions. I'm more of a trainer and you're a very good teacher." She looked back at the report. "Several of the young students have been coming up missing as well." She set it down and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I don't really want to risk any of the Instructors with this assignment.." Including you.. She thought before she continued, "But you and I work well together and you're the best History Instructor that we have. I'm going for the fact that I need a break from this desk. I've been training Rinoa in my work and she can have Selphie or Squall help her with it if need be."

Xu didn't want to have Quistis's life at risk. But since it was her choice who went on missions she figured that it was best for Quistis to be her partner.

Quistis smiled, getting what she was hinting at, she took her hand for a moment, "Are you worried about me?" She asked her, and then hugged her "You know sometimes you're really adorable," she whispered into her ear. "I've dealt with worse things, don't worry. I'll feel better with you around to protect me, when should we leave?"

Xu felt her heart swell with the words that Quistis whispered in her ear. She thinks I'm adorable! Could she like me too? She answered Quistis's question quickly, "As soon as possible. I'll call up Rinoa and have her come up here so she can start finishing what we're working on. Then I'll need to pack." She looked at the request again. "Basically we just need three non work outfits and our own toiletries. They'll provide our uniforms for classes and work." Reaching for the phone Xu said, "Why don't you go ahead and go pack? Meet you by the front gate?"

She dialed Rinoa's number. The girl was so eager to do the work and prove herself useful that it didn't take Xu as long as she thought it would to convince her to come up to the office. After she got Rinoa settled in with all instructions on what she would need to do while she was gone, Xu headed down to her room. She packed her bags as quickly as possible. She needed to get out of there before Cid asked her what she and Quistis were up to. She had left a note with Rinoa to give to Cid right after the two of them had left. She told Rinoa that they would be leaving half a hour before lights out.

Xu then headed to the front gate.
