Do you get tips for cleaning for homeowners? Or is it through a cleaning company that's all like "BLARG NO TIPS"

no tips. :< and to make things more awkward/worse/"Wow that was a stupid idea" my boss for that is also my landlord...

Ohhh. I have a friend in a similar situation. He's basically the "minor repairs" guy and "clean and paint apartments people move out of" dude. He works in the complex he lives in. And his parents own it.

He basically just gets free rent and groceries out of it. And occasional beer money.
