"Oh, of course." She took the micro SD card, "I'll put it in lat-" Sting Ray blinked, her goggles now in her hand. She turned her head, "Thank you." She yelled down the hall. She slipped her sunglasses into her pocket, poked in the micro SD card and slipped on the goggles. "What kind of upgrade?" She asked curiously. "And do you think it wise to send a new recruit off into the field when they've just MET the team?"

"Just an improvement on the previous heat and sonar vision settings to help you get a clearer picture of the layout" Batman replied as they started walking towards the briefing room, "Blue Beetle is perfect for this. I've worked with him enough recently, he's... different, but a good fit. Especially when fighting the Reach, they'll need him." as they approached the room Batman opened the door for her, "Now, lets start with Robin, how's he been progressing?"

The Reach... Probably some new enemy the team was facing. But Ciara had never heard of them

Ciara went through each person on the team. Everyone was making great progress and so far Sting Ray Boot camp was a success. So could tell their confidence in their own abilities was growing greatly. She went into detail of how their progress was going. How much help Pietro had been, especially with Kid Flash.

"But it's only been two weeks. But I'd say they're all doing very well for such a short amount of time." She finished.

"Good to hear" Batman stood, "Keep it up, don't be afraid to push them. Robin and Nightwing are well used to it." he smirked a little, he might have been a little proud with their progress.




A number of hours later, dawn was breaking but it was hard to tell from below the surface of the water. The team was running for the ship, several Reach prisoners with them. Nightwing was holding up the rear, "RUN!" he shouted, hurling explosives at the enemy that pursued them. He managed to block off a door but it wasn't enough, they were getting through.
"Aqua Lad, get them in them in the ship, Miss Martian take off as soon as they're aboard, I'll be right behind you"

Superboy was carrying Kid Flash who had injured his leg, Robin was urging the prisoners forward and throwing back the occasional batarang.

"Move move!" Aqua Lad ordered, he picked up a few small kids in his arms, and stood at the door till the last prisoner was on board, "That's all of them. Everyone on board NOW!"

Blue Beetle shot stapled several guards, while Artemis shot several of them as well. Blue Beetle didn't seem to notice Aqua Lad's call. Artemis wrapped her arm around Blue's "COME ON! We've gotta get out of here."

Nightwing glanced back at the group, there was no way they'd get to the surface unless someone stopped the Reach from pursuing, "Get on that ship NOW Blue Beetle, that's an order. If you're one of us, you listen to me."

~Insolence, we can take them all down and escape ourselves. Blow up the base and let them drown~

~Nightwing is the leader. So shut it!!~ Blue Beetle thought, turning around and racing to the door. Artemis was covering for him at the door.

"Nightwing common!" Robin called after him, everyone else was on board but the enemy was closing in too fast.

"GO!" Nightwing yelled back, typing something into his arm device then throwing it into the ship. Suddenly the door was forced to close, leaving Nightwing behind to keep fighting and make sure everyone got away.

Miss Martian hesitated but moved the ship out.
"TURN AROUND! We can't leave him!" Artemis yelled.
"He knew what he was doing." Aqua Lad said, "He's giving us the time to escape with these people."
"But-" Blue Beetle began.
"Once we have these people to safety we're save Nightwing. We won't abandon him"

Several explosions rocked the Reach Base below and no one was able to follow the team out.

~Weakling, we could have done this mission alone. How long will you persist to have these others tag along?~

"Beetle. SHUT UP! I've had it up to here with you today. You've been nothing but rude. We're part of a team now. So you better get use to it." Blue Beetle yelled. He paused, the recently freed prisoners looking at him. "Beetle. On my back... talks to me." And they all nodded.

Aqua Lad put his hand on the driver's chair, "How long till we're at the shore line?"

"We're at least 2 hours out."
"By then it might be too late."

"Contact the Justice League, maybe they can help?" Robin urged, he was a little panicked, "we can't leave Nightwing back there."

"Dude, chill, we're not going to" Kid Flash insisted, "he can hold his own, he just needs to hang on until we can get back"

"We were barely able to do so with all of us there" Superboy frowned, "how can he by himself?"

"He's clever. He may be able to find a way to hid... Miss Martian, contact the base."

Miss Martian tapped several buttons, "Young Justice to Base do you copy?"

There was a pause, "Red Tornado here." Aqua Lad explained the situation.

Red Tornado went into the other room, "Batman, we have a problem..."

Batman turned to Red Tornado immediately, "What's the situation?"

"They were over matched. Not nearly prepared for the situation before them. Nightwing stayed behind so the others could escape with the captives. They're at least 2 hours away from the shore line, meaning Nightwing would have to hold off for at least 4 hours..."

Batman frowned, "most of the Justice League are on missions of their own" he took merely a second, thinking through their options. They couldn't get anyone there faster... except...
"Sting Ray" Batman called.

There was a crashing noise and a door opened part way, "Yes?" Ciara called back, the door open a bit, her hair wild and a blanket wrapped around herself.

Batman barely batted an eye, "I know I said you wouldn't have to leave the base and you can say no, but we have a situation with the team."

Ciara looked at Batman and then back at the bed, "Oh, don't give me that face." She called from beyond the door, her cheeks were flushed beyond all reason.. "Give... Give us a min to get dressed." She'd grown rather fond of those kids. She closed the door, "I know what you're going to say, I'm not suppose to be going out on missions. But that's why you're coming along as well." She said blankly, not looking to see what Pietro thought of this.

Pietro rolled his eyes, "Seriously? If Scott heard about this he'd be having a cow right now." he sighed, a moment later he was dressed in gear. "No heavy lifting, and don't you dare get yourself wounded" he gave her a look.

"You think Scott would have a cow? Big Blue would lock me away in a tower for the rest of my life..." She threw her Sting Ray gear on and then blinked, "Heavy lifting? Why would I..." She shook her head, "Fine." She kissed his cheek. "You know you want to go help them... These kids have... kinda grown on me the last couple of weeks... If anything should happen to them."

Pietro wrapped his arms around Ciara, "If anything should happen to you..." he insisted, then sighed again and let her go as they headed out into the main room.

"These are the coordinates" Batman handed them to Pietro, "Nightwing was left behind in the Reach Base and they can't get back to him for four hours. They shouldn't be expecting us to come back for him so soon. If you can stay hidden from their defenses you should be able to infiltrate and get out again before they even know you're there."

"...One question. Who IS the Reach? I'm not familiar with these people."

Batman gave her a bit of an odd look, "The mutant community hasn't been keeping tabs on an alien race that is trying to exploit the x-gene for their own purposes?"

Ciara waved a hand, "I'm kinda out of the loop on most things since the whole... you know... Brainwashing and stuff." She pulled out a breathing mask and hopped into Pietro's arms, "Run like the wind, Silver!" She called, putting the mask on. So she won't pass out from the speed.
