A shirtless Logan opened the door with a cigar in his mouth, "Yeah?" he looked at Violet and smiled, though glanced at Charles with an odd look, "Hey there missy. Not having trouble with yer fridge again are ya?"

Charles' jaw dropped slightly. Logan? Superintending a building? How much of a pig sty was this place going to be?

"Nope, it's running smoothly after you smacked it a couple times." She jested and turned, "This is Charles McHale. Charles, this is Logan. Don't worry, he runs a pretty tight ship around here... Charles, He's umm.. looking for a place to stay. And I was wondering since 3, D isn't occupied..."

"Yeah sure" Logan nodded, looking Charles over, "You got a job, kid?"

"umm... actually...no" Charles replied as he thought about it.

"Got any savings?"

"... not that I can get ahold of..."

"How you gonna pay rent?" Logan raised a brow.

"..." Charles shifted uncomfortably, all of his finances had been dissipated when he officially died. He was rather used to being rich and now he literally had nothing.

Logan laughed at his silence, "We'll work something out. Yer not the first little brat I've had to accommodate." he smirked, giving Charles a knowing look.

"um... thanks" Charles blushed in embarrassment a bit.

"You wanna check it out?"

"Thanks, Logan." Violet said happily. "Come on, Charles." The three of them headed up to the third floor. Violet stopped at her apartment. Where a little sign tacked on the front said, "Violet and Luke." written in Green paint. "This is my stop. I need to get supper ready. You should stop in when you're done looking at the place. I make a mean Spaghetti Carbonara." She offered.

"That sounds amazing" Charles nodded to her and watched her disappear through her door.

"Man you got it bad" Logan chuckled, "common wheels, lemme show ya yer new place"

"I really can't pay for it Logan" Charles frowned, following him to the apartment.

"Fer you? Please. Stay as long as you like." Logan replied, opening the door to the apartment and showing him inside, "You'll have to find some furniture but I can at least get you a bed for now."

Charles looked around the open apartment, "... it's so... clean o.o"

"Course it is!" Logan snorted, "What'd you expect?"

"Honestly? Your room at the institute was always a war zone." Charles frowned

Logan laughed

Delicious smells were coming from Violet's apartment by the time dinner rolled around an hour later. She made up some Spaghetti Carbonara, garlic bread, and a garden salad for them. She'd even had time to have a quick shower, she eyed herself in the mirror, having put on a floral print dress, a little old fashioned but it'd have to do.

The apartment had an old feel to it decorated with vintage posters and bookshelves that had yet to be filled though there was an old looking record player on it. A violin case sat in the corner, collecting dust. There were a few robot toys laying around on the rug. But most of the furniture was rather retro but somehow seemed to all fit nicely together.

Charles finally brought up the courage to knock on the door.

Violet stumbled over a robot toy on the rug as she nearly leapt for the door. She took a deep breath, waited a second and opened the door. "Hey, come on in." She said curling a strand of partly dry hair behind her ear.

She... was... beautiful. It took a moment before Charles realized he was admiring again and he quickly smiled and stepped into the apartment, "It smells wonderful in here" he smiled, and he didn't just mean the food. Aside from the relatively fresh paint and new-home scent, the old fashioned decorating made it feel like home.

She blushed slightly and closed the door behind him, "Thanks. It's not much but Mom always said I had a gift with food. Please, have a seat." She offered him a chair before heading out to the balcony, "Luke! Dinner time."

"Awww... 5 more mins."
"I made garlic bread." She cooed.
"COMING!" He called back, rushing inside.
She chuckled to herself. The way to a man was truly his stomach... no matter the age. "So how did it go with Logan? Were you able to work something out?" She asked, setting a few more things on the table.

"Surprisingly yes" Charles took a seat, though as soon as Violet came to sit he stood and pulled her chair out for her. "As it turns out he also used to know my Uncle so..." he shrugged and left it at that.

"Oh um... thank you." She was rather enjoying being treated so nicely. "That's wonderful. You'll like it here. Everyone here is very nice. And the cost of rent isn't too bad either..."A little red blurt ran through the living room and into the bathroom, the sound of water could be heard and a few seconds later, a little red haired boy climbed onto a chair at the table.

"If you're going to be my neighbor, I'm not worried about the cost of rent" he chuckled a little, then paused and face palmed a little, "that sounded stalkerish. I'm sorry."

"No no. It's alright. I got what you were trying to say. I'm rather glad you're moving in here actually..."

"Why don't you just marry him?" Luke asked picking the pieces of bacon out of his pasta.
"Luke." Violet turned red in the face.
"What?" He blinked, confused at why Violet was upset.

Charles also blushed and began to eat. After the first bite he placed a hand over his mouth, "oh... my..."

Violet sat up a bit, "What? Is there too much pepper? Oh don't tell me you're Jewish and can't eat pork." She panicked.

"no" he swallowed, staring at his plate, "This is... the most delicious thing I have ever tasted O.o"

Violet turned bright red, "Oh...why, thank you very much." She smiled.
Luke started humming 'Here Comes the Bride. '

Charles ended up having three helpings of it, "Where did you learn to cook like this?" he demanded, "I'm so full x.x but I still want more"

Violet couldn't have been more flattered. " I'll make you a doggy bag..." She got up to start cleaning up the table. "Well, Mom and Dad both had busy lives trying to keep a roof over our heads so cooking dinner fell onto me. First it started out simple... mac and cheese, meat loaf.. but as I continued cooking I kept trying new things. And this little guy will eat anything you put in front of him," She ruffled Luke's hair as he pushed his plate forward.
I even got a scholarship to culinary school but that was before..." Violet looked over at Luke as he flomped down and played with his robot toys, a saddened expression crossed her face.

"I'm sorry..." Charles frowned, "... y'know, there's a cooking class at the community center every wednesday"

"No it's alright... They were great parents. Even after they found out about me, they stood by me. Supported me. They didn't care what I was... Because I was theirs. Luke and I would never have made it out of there if they haven't been there. We're the lucky ones..." She cleared her throat, picking up the plates and taking them into the kitchen to wash. "Oh, I couldn't do that. Luke just started school and well... I don't have anyone to watch him."
"I can watch myself." A voice from the other room suggested.

"Nice try little man."

"Well, as it just so happens, I'm looking for a job" Charles offered as he helped her clear the table, "Do you need help with dishes?"

"Sure, I'll wash, you dry." She filled up the sink and handed him a tea towel, "Oh I couldn't impose on you. I mean, we just met today, even thought we've seen each other from afar for months, "She mumbled the last part, "And I couldn't pay as much as you should be paid. I might Babysitters don't get paid very well to begin with." She rambled on.

Charles touched her hand to make her stop, "Seriously, it's fine. I'd love to. I need a reason to get myself back into the world, I could take him to the park or something."
