Sage continued to sit in the cage that he had been placed in as he began to doze a little bit. He was pretty sure that he wasn't going to get out of this, at least not at this point in time. He would wait and bide his time.

Kai continued to follow to the other to a rather large looking wooden structure. When the barn doors opened he could see that there were animals in there as well. He saw that there was a unicorn and a pegasus corralled there as well. He winced a little as he put weight on his leg. Did the other have any boundaries? He stared back at the pegasus and he briefly wondered how his own winged horse was doing. She was a tough as nails mare, but had a soft spot for the angel. He just hoped that the other was eating in his absence. He stopped though, almost running into the other, as he looked around the other to see that there was what looked like a hay bale. He heard what the other said as he got onto the hay bale on his stomach wondering how much pain he would have to endure.

He got dragged to his feet and he did so willingly leaned against the other like he was a rag doll. He wanted to disappear right now. He didn't want Sage to see him like this. He didn't want to be near Sage right now. Turning towards Merik he looked at the other and said,"Please take me back upstairs." He didn't want to be here right now, and he hoped that Sage understood.

Sage had watched the whole event unfold and he wanted to help the other in whatever way that he could. However, when he heard the other say that he wanted to leave he felt as if a small part of his soul had shattered. What was the other talking about? Why did he want to leave him, and not be comforted by him?!

Though rather irritated Kai hadn't answered, Merik let the subject drop. He paused at the request, looking oddly at the angel, but eventually, he gave a small nod. He felt slightly sympathetic, and didn't want the angel walking on the leg that had been shot. He reaced down, and scooped the male up. He gave one last glance to Sage, before carrying Kai up the stairs.

He carried him up both flights, and laid him down on his bed, for once being rather careful. He settled next to the angel, and began stroking the boy's wing. "You could be happy, you know...Why not let yourself be? You like when I rub your wings, and your head. Why not enjoy my companionship? We could even grow to be friends, as long as you behave.."

Kai waited for the other to answer him, and Merik's answer was scooping him up in his arms and carrying him up the two flights of stairs to the room that they apparently shared. He was placed gently on the bed and let out a soft sigh. He felt the other begin stroking his wings again and he let out a small moan. He heard what Merik said and he began slowly nodding to himself. He wanted the pain and the torture to end. He didn't care about Sage, they had been forced together by the elders, but even so the two of them had become inseparable. "I know," muttered Kai. "I have a duty though to the elders." He was half coherent now so he didn't really know what he was saying. He felt utterly exhausted, even thought it was mid-day now. Glancing over at the sun that was leaking in through the window. He just wanted to sleep.

As he laid there the memories of what had just happened came crashing over him, and he suddenly sat up brushing the other's hand away. He needed a bath and he needed it now.

(Aww. What's wrong?)

Merik looked on, puzzled, and slightly offended, as his hand was brushed away. He sat up, looking to the boy curiously. "They can't fault you. You didn't want any of this. Maybe one day, you'll be free, or I will die, and you can go back home. What's wrong with you now?"

Kai listened to what the other said as he managed to stand up on his own. Sure it hurt, but right now he really needed to be away from the other. He needed to take a bath and wash himself with a lot of soap. "I know they can't," mumbled Kai. "However, they are going to blame me for coming down here in the first place." he finished in his head. He didn't know why he felt sad when the other said that he would die eventually, and then he and Sage could go back to Heaven. Sage and Kai had lived for a few hundred years, so waiting a few decades wouldn't hurt them. Then again the way that he was being treated he didn't know if he would last that long.

He managed to hobble a few steps as he made his way to the bathroom. He was determined to do this. Turning he looked at the other as he tried to make the pain in his leg from the gunshot wound stop throbbing. What was wrong with him? What was wrong with him. Merik had been nice to him, and showed him affection. Sure, the other had a nasty streak from time to time, but what person or angelic being alike didn't? If the other was just purely angry and mean to him it would be a lot easier for him to hate the other. However, Merik was nice as well as mean at the same time.

(Oh...I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do?)

"You're acting like a child!" Merik snapped, and slipped from the bed. He pushed past Kai, shoving the angel against the wall, and opened the bathroom cabinet. He fiddled around for a few moments, and eventually pulled out a bottle. He emptied two of the pills into his hand, and filled a disposable cup from the tap, finally turning and handing them out to Kai. "Take these...they should help with the leg. What are you doing? You need to be resting..." Merik crossed his arms over his chest and glared at the shorter male.

Kai narrowed his eyes when he heard the other. The only reason he was in this predicament was because of him in the first place, and now he was being called the child. He saw the other coming towards him, and he shied away from the other. He wasn't sure what the other was doing, but he felt himself being pushed against the wall. His breathing immediately picked up. However, he relaxed a little when he felt two smooth capsules and a cup of water being pushed into his hand. He listened to the other's explanation, and without even thinking twice he popped the two pills into his mouth as he swallowed a mouth full of water. Resting? Ha! How could he be resting when he was covered in sweat and god knows what else. "I will sleep when I am done taking a bath. It's your fault you know," replied Kai cooly as he crossed his own arms across his chest mocking the other.

"My fault?!" Merik looked shocked, and even took a step back. "My fault for what? You disobeyed me! I can't just let that slide, Kai! If you didn't look at me, or talk to me like that, I wouldn't get so mad."

Kai's eyes narrowed at the other. He didn't know where this new surge of defiance had come from, but right now he didn't much care. It was 100% the other's fault. For punishing him, for capturing him, for all kinds of things. He sucked in air, preparing to yell more at the other, not caring about the punishment when realization hit him. Merik was right. He was right. He had always been right. Merik would have never captured him had he not left the safety of Heaven. He would have never hurt him or punished him had he been good. It was all Kai's fault that this was happening, and now both of them knew about it.

((I think he's like bi-polar or sometimes right now)).

Merik felt his anger grow as the boy opened his mouth again. He was prepared to yell back, or even strike out, when a look passed over Kai. It was like the male had lost all resistance. What Merik had said may not be true, but it had worked on the boy, so Merik continued to press. "Oh, yes, it's all your fault. If it wasn't...then you wouldn't like me stroking your hair or wings so much, now would you? It's your fault, you like it, and now even Sage knows it! Didn't you see the look he gave you? He thinks you're sick. Hell..." The male grinned happily. "Maybe you are..."

(Lol...poor Kai.)

Merik's words hit him like if he had actually been physically struck by the other. The words stung, but what hurt more than the actual words was Kai's own loathing for himself. Everything that the two of them had said at that time had been true. Merik was right. He had enjoyed it. Every moment of it. From him getting his wings and hair stroked, to other things as well. He truly was a disgusting person. He had to just bring up Sage as well. God, Sage. What did the other angel think of him now. Probably that he was no better than dirt. He most certainly couldn't face the other angel right now, at least not in this sad state. Throwing his hands over his head he fell to his knees, which hurt as he started shaking his head back and forth willing his own malicious voice to leave his mind. As the seconds ticked by a buzzing sound began to build up in his ears and he lost consciousness falling sideways onto the carpeted ground.

Merik watched quietly. To be honest, he was feeling rather guilty. The pain the angel was feeling was plain on his face. Then the boy began to shake his head, falling to his knees. Merik frowned, and stepped forward, just as Kai fell. He cursed, checking the angel over, then gently lifting him.

Kai was placed in his bed, and Merik checked the boys wounds quickly, then laid next to him. He tugged the angel to him, spooning the boy and burying his face in the male's neck. Kai had been through so much these past few days...maybe Merik should take it easy on the boy for next few. Besides, he really did want the male's comfort. It was nice, to hold someone in your arms. The elf tried to kill him when Merik had brought her to the bed, and she made it clear every touch was unwanted. Kai, though, he did like it when Merik touched him, as much as he didn't want to. How long had it been since Merik had that? He sighed, and snuggled the boy a bit tighter.

Kai, who was unconscious to everything that was going on around him, found himself floating in what appeared to be inky darkness. He figured that it was a dream. As he floated in the darkness he began to shiver and quiver as it became very cold around him. There was a sudden warmness off to his right that began radiating heat and he found himself levitating towards it. He wanted to wrap himself up in the warmness that was now all around him. Letting out a sigh he snuggled closer towards the source of the warmth that had been Merik. He drifted into a calmer sleep as he let out a soft sigh as he was completely oblivious to Merik holding him for had he known Kai knew that he would have been fighting tooth and nail.

Sage still couldn't believe that he had seen Kai do those kinds of things to the other male. Right in front of him no less. He knew that the other was trying to protect him by bending to the other's will, but that didn't mean that it didn't hurt any less. Sage was supposed to be the protector of their duo, even if they hadn't been sworn to be bond mates he would have protected the others, and now he had failed in that as well. He would need to think of a way to get out of this mess, but right now he needed rest. He let his eyes slide closed as he laid on his side as shadows overtook his vision.

Eventually, Merik crawled from the bed. He glanced at the angel before standing and stretching. He doubted the boy could actually go far, so he took a shower and dressed, before starting in on the daily chores. He fed most of the animals, before stepping into Sage and the harpy's room. "Wakie, wakie!" He called, two large bowls in his arms. He stopped at the harpy first, opening the door on the bottom of the cage. As it opened, a metal slab slid down, preventing the harpy from attacking him. He dropped the chicken livers into the pan, and shut the door, the slab sliding up once again. He repeated the process at Sage's cage, only dropping fruit into the pan before closing it. "Gonna get your wings trimmed today...And my friend should be here to install the bars a bit later. I'll put you guys in the greenhouse then. Bet you'll like it a lot more...Maybe, if Kai and you behave well, I'll let you two have some time together."

Kai felt the bed shift down a little bit, but he didn't pay it any mind. He figured that it was just his imagination. He snuggled back into the covers and was out again. He woke up though when he heard the sound of the shower, making a mental note that he too had to take a shower as well for he still felt disgusting from the previous day. He heard the other walking around the room and pretended to be asleep. He knew that he couldn't get very far, and he figured that Merik knew that as well since that was why he had left him there unguarded. Getting to his feet he managed to hobble over to the bathroom where he had taken a bath before. He drew himself a bath and then sunk down into the luke warm water as he let out a soft sigh. His muscles, his arms, his legs, heck his entire body hurt.

Sage, who had had a rather fitful night, had finally managed to fall asleep only to be awoken by the sound of metal sliding on metal. It set his nerves on end. He saw the other drop some fruit into the pan that was there and he eyed it curiously. He wondered if the other had drugged it. It sounded like something the human would do. He bristled when he heard the other say that he was going to get his wings trimmed. Like hell he was. He was one of the best fliers in Heaven. Besides, he needed them to escape. He figured that he might as well eat something though and conserve his energy. Walking over he grabbed an apple that had been laid in the pan. Taking a bite from it he closed his eyes as he not only relished the taste of the apple, but began thinking of ways that he would be able to escape.

Merik had paused by the angel's cage, viewing him, his chest puffing out. "I really can't get over it..." He shook his head and grinned. "Luckiest person in the world. I have an angel. Not just an angel, but two angels..." He shook his head again, before heading back upstairs.

It took a while to get all the dishes from the feeding done and put away. He dried them and put them away, whistling the whole time. eventually, he filled another bowl with a few select pieces of fruit, and moved back to the bedroom. His heart skipped a beat when he saw the empty bed, but a moment later, and Merik had moved into the bathroom. He smile returned when he noted the figure in the tub, and he set the bowl on the rim. "Morning. You were awfully cuddly last night. I don't think you are gonna be able to fly with that wing for a bit, but you heal far too fast, so we are still getting your wings trimmed today. I bet I'm gonna have to drug your friend for it, but you'll behave yourself, right?"

Sage heard what the other said and narrowed his eyes a little. Throwing the fruit at the metal cage bars the bars came to life which caused the apple to explode on contact, throwing apple chunks every which way. Lucky for him he didn't get covered in it. He began pacing a little bit as he eyed the harpy there. How could the other just sit idly by and let this happen to her? Would he too end up like her in the end. Caged like some wild animal?

Kai who had been enjoying his bath as he got off all of the sweat, grime, and other things off of him began humming to himself as he preened his beautiful teal colored feathers until they shone. As he continued to hum he stopped with a small squeak of surprise when he heard the other's voice in the room. "Cuddly?" thought Kai. "What's he talking about." Then it clicked the coldness, the warm, and suddenly feeling safe and secure. Why hadn't it made sense before? He scoffed as he heard the other say that he wouldn't be able to fly for a while. He knew that, Merik didn't need to constantly remind him of that. His blood ran cold though when he heard that the other would be following through with his threats to clip his wings. He knew that they would grow back in time, but Kai also knew that he wouldn't be able to make them grow faster. He eyed the bowl of fruit as he contemplated what the other had said.

He also knew that Sage would probably end up getting drugged, he just wished sometimes that his lover wasn't so pigheaded at times, but that was why they made such a good pair. As he continued to stare at the bowl of fruit he could feel his mouth begin to practically water as his stomach gave out a soft growl.

The harpy met the angel's gaze, and seemed to know what he was thinking. Her feather's fluffed in irritated, and she let loose a keening wail.

Merik fell silent once he was done, staring at the angel. Eventually, a loud rumble filled the room. The human sighed, and pointed to the bowl. "Eat. I'm going to set some clothes out for you on the bed..." He left, and as he'd said, he laid clothes on the bed for Kai, taking some scissors to open slits in the back, hoping they would be big enough for the angel.

As soon as he finished, a loud peeling bell sounded in the house. Merik glanced away, and tossed the scissors on the bed, before heading out of the room. He jogged down the stairs, inviting the other male in. The male looked like the hawks he trained, with a large beak noise and awfully beady eyes. "Brandon!" Merik greeted the man with a hug of good friends. They spoke for a few minutes, until Merik peeked outside. "Nice trailer. We'll get the angels done, then I'll load the pegasus up for you. You have to use the equipment I get you...other wise the horse will escape..." Brandon agreed, and they started towards the basement.

Inside, Merik pointed at the black winged angel. Brandon whistled. "I have to admit...I didn't know if you'd really caught one. It's amazing. I don't suppose you'd be willing to pay me with him instead of the Pegasus?" Merik grinned and shook his head. Brandon shrugged and returned the grin. "Couldn't hurt to try, eh?" He lifted the dart gun he'd brought down with him, and took the small box Merik had carried for him. He selected a size, already filled with the right amount for certain weights. "Since he's a bird, I'm going to assume he'd lighter than an average human and select a small dose..." He explained to the hunter, who motioned to the angel. Brandon lifted the dart gun, pointing it at Sage through the bars, then pulled the trigger. With a soft pop, the dart flew from the gun.

((I can totally picture your character yanking the door up and yelling out as if calling to an old friend))

Kai glanced at the other male and then at the food bowl again. He had to admit he was very hungry. Wading his way over to the side of the tub he glanced at the bowls contents. There were some grapes, an apple, and a plum. He decided that even though plums were his favorite they brought back too many bad memories. He decided he would eat some grapes and then the apple. Getting out of the tub he quickly dried himself off before heading over to the bedroom again, apple in hand. He eyed the clothes that were there. Slipping the shirt over his head he saw that the other had taken the liberty of cutting small slits in the back for his wings. Pulling it over his head he fitted his wings through. He did the same with the rest of the clothing there. He sat on the bed as he heard some talking. He was intrigued, but something about the new person's voice set him on edge. Getting up again he hobbled over to the window where he saw the sun shining bright. Glancing at the latch on the window he could tell that it was easy to unlock. He swung the window open, lucky for him there was no screen. He called out and then some small birds came towards him and he began humming a tune again. He figured that Merik wouldn't get too angry with him. It wasn't like he was trying to escape via flight.

As Sage continued to pace back and forth he stopped when he saw that there were two people standing in front of his cage. He narrowed his eyes a little bit, and strained his hearing, but for some reason he couldn't pick up what the two of them were conversing about. He saw some movement, and then heard rather than saw something being fired at him. Sage tried to dodge to wherever he thought wouldn't be safe, and ended up becoming the perfect target for whatever was shot at him. The dart sunk into his upper arm and he let out a hiss of pain. Yanking it out of his arm he threw it to the ground where the glass shattered. Whatever he had been shot with was making quick work of his motor skills as he felt himself sliding to his feet and then falling sideways onto his side. As he laid there he wondered what fate had in store for him.

As soon as the angel began to fall, Merik reached under the cage, flicking the emergancy shut off switch. Then, he unlocked the cage, and lifted Sage easily. He brought the angel out, and laid him on a table a few rooms away. Brandon gathered his items, and moved into the room. He worked quickly and expertly, slicing the wings Sage would most need for flight as close as he could without making the wing bleed.

Once Sage was done. The angel was laid back in the cage. Everything was turned back on and the cage was locked. While Brandon prepared another dart, just in case, for Kai, Merik had to go back upstairs to the ringing doorbell. Quickly, the new workers were shown the greenhouse and told what he wanted. They weren't his friends, though they had done work for him before. He would keep them away from his beasts. They set to work, though it would be days before the bars were done. And even longer for the safety doors Merik wanted.

Then Brandon and Merik were trudging upstairs. Both males smiled at Kai when they saw the birds and heard Kai humming. He did love the angel's voice. And he wasn't mad, since it wasn't an escape attempt. They moved into the room, however, and the birds scattered, flying out the window. Merik nodded to Kai. "Flip over. Time to get your wings trimmed."

Sage, who was swimming through the rough equivalent of molasses in his mind was vaguely aware that he was being moved, let alone that his feathers were being clipped so he wouldn't be able to fly. He had blacked out completely before he had been returned to his cage. His last fleeting thought was that he hoped that the same thing wasn't happening to Kai. Kai loved freedom of flight, and for that to be taken away from him would just kill him.

Kai who continued to sing heard the approach of two sets of people. Standing up he watched as the birds went scattering away. Looking forlornly at them he wished he too could spread his wings and take flight as well. Back to his home, back to Heaven. He glanced at the two. Merik was with some other strange looking man that gave him the creeps, but what really scared him was the gun that he had seen the other carry.

Kai heard what the other had said and began shivering as he got up. He knew what the other was here for. He wasn't dumb. Merik had told him quite a few times what was going to happen to him. Escape, he needed to escape. He tested the weight on his leg finding that he at least could support weight on it now. He was so happy that he had regenerative powers at times. He began backing away from the other as he began shaking his head.

"Kai..." Merik frowned, holding his hand out to the boy. "If you don't behave, we will put you to sleep, just like we did to Sage. And, if you are really bad, I'll let Brandon here visit you for the night, understand me? Lay down on the bed, on your stomach. If you are very good, as soon as the greenhouse is finished, you and Sage can spend some time together..."

Brandon didn't bother with talking. He raised the long gun and aimed at the angel, though he waited for Merik's signal before shooting.

Kai continued to stare at the other as he still shook his head from side to side. By this time the only thing on his mind was to escape and get away from the two of them. However, in backing away from the two he had ended up backing himself into a literal corner. His back hit the wall and he glanced back regretting that he had done this in the first place. "P-please Meri-," started Kai before he corrected himself by saying," Master don't do this. I won't fly away I promise." He had been good thus far listening to everything the other had said. Why would Merik have any reason to doubt him.
