I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about their friend's stupid facebook status updates for a long time, now, so I thought it'd be fun to make this thread.

What types of facebook status updates do you hate to see? What have you blocked people's updates for on facebook? Favorite and most hated status updates? Don't forget to tell us why. :D

Ya'll get the idea. ^.^ If you directly quote one of your friend's updates, don't post the name, and don't forget the [QUOTE][/QUOTE] tags.

I don't typically block people's status updates, I just shake my head and mutter to myself about how stupid they are. Typically, it's all the girls I went to high school with that I do that to. Most of them just complain about the lack of "...real gentlemen" in the world. One of them is also an ex of mine, and every time I talk to them now, they always say there were more single guys like me in the world...just makes me shake my head and feel sorry for them for not realizing I am one of those guys like me that is single. Though, I probably wouldn't date any of them(seeing as they are almost all drama queens).

Lamebook.com and Failbook.com have both hilarious and pathetic status updates that I check regularly.
I kind of weeded out most of my dramatic "friends", so those 2 websites have become my only source
of laughter and facepalms.
I highly recommend you check them out, if you haven't already :P

While I deleted most annoying friends and family, there are some that I must remain friends with for one reason
or another. Their "Like my status for ________" updates or the "I love my boobear so much <3 <3" updates get tiring
after a while :sarcasm:

As I am easily annoyed, anything with a hashtag in it. #<That thing. That symbol right there, followed by some un-spaced text. It has a place on other sites, but NOT ON FACEBOOK.

Also anyone who has any one of those, "like my status for X" or "repost this if X".

I just hide the post though. I only block people who have foul language or say offensive things.

Of course the most annoying thing actually happened in a chat I was having with someone I met in Facebook. We were playing the word association game, as a sort of ice-breaker. it was fun....until I said "California", my home state. He responded with "hippies". I HATE that stereotype! D< GAH.

Let's just say, I was more than annoyed.

I hate those messages that go around on facebook where people tell you to "post this absurd status update but don't tell anyone what it means." Usually it's for a good cause...but one of them made me say that I was pregnant and craving something. With all of the girls my age (19) pregnant or already a mother, I don't want to post that, I'm sorry.

Lolz, I've never thought of Californians as hippies--I'm from Colorado and people usually think we're the health nut hippy recycling people--which we are, so whatever. XD There's a huge stereotype in Colorado that Californians are bad drivers, though, because we get people from Cali who have absolutely no concept of how to drive on snow.

We get people who forget how to drive in the snow, and we get more than enough of it for them to be able to remember that its coming. And then there are the people who complain about the snow...and again, we get probably 4 feet a year worth of snow(if not more), and they have lived here long enough to know about it coming, and that we might actually get more than that. Always makes me wonder why they decided to come here, where the weather can be all seasons in one day.

I hide most people that I'm friends with simply because they're not close friends and I really don't care enough to want to read about their lives on Facebook. Like I have a lot of old classmates and coworkers/excoworkers as friends that I talk to every now and then but don't care enough to look at their updates. I've only ever blocked one person on Facebook and that's only because they were being a douche and couldn't take a hint that I deleted them off my friend list for a reason.

I know right? or when someone posts a status like a sad face, and people ask them whats wrong they say something like "oh nothing". It's like why the hell would you post something like that if you aren't going to explain whats wrong. And also when someone posts a picture of a burned baby or someone with cancer and say "how many likes for this brave kid".

Ah, facebook... Someone seems like such a smart, well-balanced person, then you find their facebook and discover that they were an unhinged idiot the whole time! I generally end up deleting the people whose statuses seriously annoy me. They're usually people I haven't seen in years and have no interest in being friends with (and they don't seem to have an interest in being my friend either), so why keep them there and be annoyed by them all the time? I generally only hide people if I feel obligated to keep them (like cousins - no matter how annoying they are, I'm still related to them and am obligated to love them!) or if they're an otherwise great person and/or I think they might grow out of the annoying update stage.

An old classmate of mine recently posted this, though. As a status.

I've never deleted anyone off of facebook, I tend to just hide their status updates if they're bugging the hell out of me.

The one that has tweaked me off the most in my last year on facebook is an old classmate from high school. She could not go a single day sometimes without posting a status update along the lines of: "all these people on facebook are idiots, they need to get a life." Or: "blocked yet another person for posting stupid updates."

Mmmkay, well, keep it to yourself, because you're more annoying than anyone else I've ever come across what with your endless insulting. >.>

@Cherry: Oh, haha. That's funny. That update would just make me giggle.

The one person that used to annoy the hell out of me that I could never block was my friend's mother. She'd post over 30 status updates a day, but I figured I'd miss the one important one if I blocked her.

I've only ever hid the status updates from three people; my ex, his new girlfriend and then someone they're both close with. The first two removed me though, so it's just the third now. The kind of updates that irk me most are the "oh my god I love my girlfriend/boyfriend so much! We've been going out for a day but we already can't live without each other or use the private message system" *insert a million hearts and x's*"

So many Facebookers get my goat, it's a wonder i still use it!
People who constantly post about their babies. Or significant others. I don't mind the odd one, and do occasionally indulge myself, but if that's all they ever talk about it annoys me. They are their own person and i wish they'd realise it, i don't give two hoots about your kid, really, if i'm honest.

Those people that you know are only positing for attention in some way or other.

Those that will boast about how far along with an assignment they are. Where does that honestly get you?

Those who report on how they're looking forward to going with with X and Y, and getting however ratarsed, then the following morning post about how rough they feel.

Excessive posting of song lyrics really annoys me too.

I go through and purge my friends list on Facebook once in a while. I get more updates from website pages than anything else, really. I've only had to hide a few posts and they were from this Youtube person that was just being kind of whiny at the time.
But generally, I don't care what's on there. Although lately, some family members are being a little... stupid. One talks about how she's gotten stronger and is done with this person and that person and silly stuff like ["Mama taught me to be a lady, but Daddy taught me to be a bitch."] Just.. what??
I don't do much of the "like this and blahblah" stuff. I've done song lyrics. P: For a while I also did those updates where you tag your fiends on your profile page doing some silly thing. I forget what it's called.
I just don't update my status much. XDD Most of my "updates" are actually just pictures.

I will go through and delete people on my list that I don't talk to or have no idea who they are. But it doesn't happen too often ^^"

My grandfather just recently got a facebook and my cousin was a friend of his. Was is the word. reason: She posted a joking status message about Whitney Houston's death and how she'll take a pill and go to bed. My grandfather though that this was on his facebook and no one else's, so he deleted my cousin off of his list. he doesn't really care for this cousin of mine anyway. but it was still kind of funny.

I agree, I hate the ones telling me to like their status for something good to happen, or the ones telling me to copy and paste stuff. I really don't care, unless it's something related to something I do care about. I also hate seeing the statues about "I wub my boo boo bear" or "Oh I miss mr fiance, I wish I could see him, but I'm at school" and school is only 30 min away. -.- I went to school 2hr away from my boyfriend and am going to go to school and hr away... I hate those people. -.-

My friends list is pretty meticulously kept. I don't want people up in my business when they're not in my life anymore.

I do have my post setting defaults changed though. I made a custom setting so that anything I post defaults to "All of my friends except for Hubby's paternal grandmother, because she's super annoying and condescending when she comments, but I can't un-friend her because she's family and hubby won't un-friend her anyway."

Seriously. I can't stand her posts sometimes.

I have a couple of people blocked. Mostly really really annoying ones who didn't get the hint when I un-friended them. And I blocked my mom. My brother tipped me off that she got Facebook when he asked me how to block her, because she had sent him a friend request and he was all "OH HELL NAW" so I pre-emptively blocked her.

I am friends with my mom-in-law though. She mostly uses her account for business though (she's in real estate) so not a whole lot happens between me and her.

I really like snooping on my younger cousin though. Half the stuff she posts is completely fabricated, and she changes jobs more often than I change socks. It's really amusing to watch from a distance.

One of the updates I've seen was along the lines of, 'Why does facebook presume I have a mind and that I have something on it?' I thought this was amusing. Since when you don't put an update on facebook, the space says 'What's on your mind?'

^ Haha, I love that. :XD

My friends list is kept as small as possible, though it's still growing by one or two every couple of months. The only family member I have on there is my dad, but he's rarely on anyway and I can just hide my updates that include cussing from him, so it's not too much trouble. Most of my status updates are funny images from one of those random groups...though I'm considering deleting a few of those groups who are from fandoms, because they're constantly advertising about, 'Like xxx and yyy to show your support for zzz!' and I'm like, wtf. I may like one character from a fandom, that doesn't mean I like the rest of them.

At the moment, I'm mostly annoyed with the timeline *bleep* Facebook's changing all the accounts to. I hate it.

The only thing I like about the timeline is the cover photo, but I can't even figure out what to put on there that isn't like: OH, HUGE PICTURE OF ME! Chu can see mah pores!

I'm still pissed off about the last mega update that facebook did before they started this timeline crud. The one that basically got rid of the "recent post" function and just left the popular story function. Now I don't know what freaking order stuff was posted in, and I miss all the new posts. >.> <.< >.>

Yeah, that bit annoys me too. It keeps switching me to "Top Rated" or whatever, and sometimes even when I have it on "Most Recent" it'll glitch out and not show me posts. And then I found out that it had switched my "subscription" to all my friends and fan pages to "Most Important" or something like that, so it wasn't showing me about half of everyone's posts! So I had to manually scroll over everyone's name, scroll over "subscribed" and choose "all." I had missed some important posts because of that stupid change. :|

That and the change to inboxes. Now if someone messages you and isn't on your friendslist, it'll go to an "other" folder in your inbox and you won't get a notification about it. Seriously, what? I don't care much about aesthetic changes, but the ones that make it actively more difficult to communicate with people when communicating with people is the entire point of the site? I don't get it! Why would you do that? Again, that inbox change made me miss some really important messages.
