" Could there be anyone after me?" She asked and took a drink of the water. She always had wondered why her dad been so afraid in the days before his death. Hikari hoped whoever that was after him, wouldn't come after her.

"Well that could be the case. I doubt they know where we are at the moment. The pressure is pretty faint and the people who are afrter your dad would probably send weaker people after you since they think you are unprotected." Renji thought for a moment. "So... That gives us time."

Hikari nodded. " I hope they don't know where I am." She said and took a deep breath to calm down. She stood up and put the first disk in hoping they both could relax.

"Don't worry. I am here to protect you." Renji tried to give a reassuring smile but failed miserably. He sat back down and prepared to watch the DVD.

Hikari watched the DVD hoping to get her mind off things. She wished there was a way she could help herself safe, but figured there wasn't , assuming those who were after her would be much stronger.

Renji was a bit worried but he knew the people after Hikari were a ways off. He noticed she was nervous and grabbed her hand to give her a reassuring squeeze. This is what humans do right? Renji remembered doing that to Rukia when they were younger. She was scared of something and he has seen people do it before.

Hikari gave a small smile and felt at ease. She knew Renji was doing what he could to help her relax. She hated being a target. The DVD ended a while later and she saw it was getting close to dinner. " Ready for dinner? I hope you are still up for teriyaki chicken and fried rice. "Hikari said with a small smile.

Renji got up and almost ran through the door. "You know it!" He loved eating almost as much as he loved sleeping. He remembered when Ichigo and him ate all of the food before the rest of the gang even got there.

Hikari smiled and went toward the kitchen. She got the things she would need for dinner. " What else would you like? I have ice cream if you would like that for dessert. " She said as she was cutting up the chicken.

Renji looked at the chicken, then at Hikari. "You need help?" He would get the ice cream later. He wasn't really paying attention to anything. He was to busy trying to pinpoint where the pressure was coming from.

" I think I'm fine for now. You could get the peas and carrots out of the freezer for me though." Hikari said with a smile. She liked having someone to cook for. Usually she ate instant meals or take out.

Renji opened the freezer and took the said items out. "Well I appreciate you letting me stay here 'ya know." He set the items down on the counter.

" I'm glad I could help.I'm grateful that you are here keeping me safe." Hikari said. She knew eventually Renji would have to go back and would have to accept it. She just didn't want to be alone again.

"Well without you I wouldn't have a place to stay. I just wish they would have told me where to go other than telling me to just follow the hollows." Renji chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. "This is nothing though."

Hikari grinned and was glad to help. She added the sauce to the cooking chicken and started the peas and carrots in the steamer. She got the pan out to fry the rice, but would wait till the veggies were done.

Renji just watched. Hikari was amazing him with her cooking skills. "Where'd you learn how to cook? You are really good." Renji sat down and took out his ponytail.

" My grandma taught me. My dad wasn't really much of a cook. "Hikari said. She knew her dad had tried to soon after her mother had died, but it was too much for him to do. Her grandmother did the cooking and Hikari had helped. Though Hikari felt she wasn't as good as her grandma.

"Well she taught you good. I have a couple friends who like to cook." Renji thought about the meals he would have with Orihime and the others. "Fun times." Renji caught himself in the middle of thinking and thought about setting the table. "Would you like me to set the table? Where do you keep the dishes?" He walked over to some of the cabinets.

" The ones on your right. The glasses are on your left and the dinner ware is in the drawer below the toaster. " Hikari said telling Renji where things were.

Renji opened the cabinets and got said items out. "So do you feel lonely living alone?" Renji managed to stab his thumb with a fork and he winced.

" I do feel lonely. This is the first time in my life I've been this alone. "Hikari said, not wanting Renji to see how sad she was feeling. Hikari wiped her eyes and continued to cook dinner. She knew she had a long ways to go to be happy again.

Ranji saw how sad she looked and got up. Hugging her from behind, he sighed. "Well I am here now. I will do whatever it takes to make you happy. You just look so sad." Renji let her go and leaned against the counter-top. "We just gotta wait for everything to turn out good, It may be a long road but it is worth it."

Hikari nodded." I'm sorry I get so sad. I'm glad you are here." She said and finished up dinner. " It's ready." She said with a small smile.

"It is human emotion Hikari. No need to be sorry." He gave a smile back as he helped carry the food to the table. "Do you think you'd be willing to part with the store for a while if the enemy does come soon?"

" I would. If the enemy does come , where would I go to be safe?" Hikari asked. She didn't know where Renji would take her, but was willing to go.
