Basou walked carefully through the woods with a group of friends on Halloween night. He really wasn't paying attention to where they were going since he was deep in thought about other things like what he was going to do later on or tomorrow. "So are you going to accept or not?" asked Poggin. Basou snapped out of his thoughts and looked at him. "What?" he asked. Poggin laughed. "I asked you if you want to accept the dare..." he repeated pointing to an abandoned house. Basou looked at Poggin then at Voluns then at the house. "Wait...why do I have to do this? Why don't you or Voluns go?" he asked. Poggin sighed. "Voluns is too small and he is scared of course...and me? Well...I just don't want to, besides I asked the dare...so I don't count." he said and grinned. Voluns was a white centaur with long jet black hair up to his chest, and had light blue eyes, Poggin was a black centaur with long blonde hair up to his waist and had emerald green eyes. "So...are you going to do it?" asked Poggin. Basou sighed and nodded. "Yes...It will be easy..." he said. Poggin chuckled. "Remember...you can't leave the house until morning..." he reminded. Basou looked at Poggin with a look of surprise but nodded. "Okay then...easy enough." he said and looked at Voluns then Poggin. "I'll see you in the morning." he said and walked over to the door of the house. "We'll be here waiting!" called Voluns who was only 18 while Poggin was 21.

Arachne was spinning one of her webs when she heard talking outside. She listened to the conversation, chuckling softly. "Another person has been dared," she mumbled to herself, "Great..." She walked along the ceiling of the first floor, taking a hold of one of her silky threads. She smiled to herself, then used the thread as a type of lasso. She swung it, the silvery thread attaching itself to the doorknob. She pulled it a certain way, causing the door to creak open just a tad bit. She released the thread, then made her way down to the floor. Her legs made soft tapping sounds, so soft that it was almost silent. Once on the floor, she went off into hiding, deciding to watch the new arrival from the shadows.

When the door opened slightly with a creak, Basou looked back at his friends and walked into the house slowly. His spear was in his hand and he looked around the living room cautiously. "So this is supposed to be a haunted house...what a nice way to celebrate Halloween..." he muttered and sneezed. His dark brown eyes scanned the room as he walked around carefully looking for a light switch. His hooves made a soothing noise as as he walked slowly around the room thinking some more. "What to do now?" he asked himself and sighed.

Arachne watched as a centaur entered her house. She blinked a couple times, her head slowly tilting to the side. Never had she seen a centaur enter her house. She grabbed another thread, which was connected to the door, and tugged on it so it would close the door. She slowly walked around, keeping an eye on the centaur as he wandered around the room. She made sure to stay out of his field of vision, not wanting to be seen just yet.

Basou looked back at the door that had now closed on its own. His eyes then looked around him and in front of him narrowing in suspicion. "Who's there?" he asked, weapon in hand. He quickly looked to the side thinking he heard something and held his weapon tighter in his hand. Basou wasn't scared, just cautious. Slowly, he began to walk to the other rooms in the house. Since he was stuck in here until morning, he might as well look around the house and find out what's haunting it.

Arachne giggled, the sound seeming to come from several different directions as it echoed throughout the house. She continued to follow the centaur, keeping the sounds of her legs as quiet as possible. "What's your name?" she asked, "I've never seen a centaur wander into my home before..."

His ears perked when he heard a female giggle in the distance. He didn't know where this female was, but he wanted to find her now. "My name...why should I tell you my name?" he asked as he looked around and wondered where she was and what she wanted. "Why don't you show yourself?" he asked. His tail swayed behind him and his hooves continued to make the clopping noise whenever he took a step.

"Cause I want to know your name, silly," Arachne said with another giggle, "It's only polite to know each others names, no?" She thought about showing herself when he mentioned it. She shrugged her shoulders. "I'll reveal myself when you tell me your name," she said.

"I see...very well then." he said and stopped walking. "You're right it is polite to introduce one another...although ladies always go first but I'll make an exception this time." he explained. Keeping his weapon in his hand, Basou took a deep breath. "My name is Basou Caspian..." he said and looked around carefully.

Aranche grinned. She came out of hiding, yet was still out of his field of vision. "Pleasure to meet you Basou Caspian," she said, "I'm Aranche~" She had a slight purr to her voice. She crossed her arms across her stomach, waiting for him to turn around.

"Aranche...odd name for a girl..." he said. He narrowed his eyes and noticed she hadn't shown herself. "Now you need to show yourself like you said you would...Lying isn't nice, especially when you're trying to be polite you now." he said as he backed up just a few steps.

Arachne laughed. "Silly centaur," she said as she poked him in the rear with one of her legs, "I'm right behind you. I was just waiting to see if you would turn around or not." She grinned slightly.

Basou stiffened slightly and looked to his sides. Slowly, Basou turned around and took a few steps back at what he saw. "Spider..." was the only word he said. They had one thing in common...they both were half human and half animal.

Aranche raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong with me being a spider?" she said as she took a few steps closer to him. Her grin started to turn into a frown, an unamused, almost pissed, expression on her face.

Basou looked her up and down then looked at her. "Well nothing...it's just...odd..." he said. "I've never seen someone like you before...I didn't think there were other half human half animals...I thought Centaurs where the only ones...but now that I think about it...so are harpies." he said and ran a hand through his hair.

"Technically.... I'm half insect..." Arachne said, "Half animal, huh? What about mermaids? Half fish and all..." She smiled once more.

"Insect, whatever it's the same thing...Insects are animals you know...." he said and sighed. He then laughed. "I had completely forgotten about mermaids and mermen." he said and nodded. He looked around the house and then at her. "So you live here huh?" he asked.

Arachne nodded slightly. "Yeah," she said, "I'm the one who "haunts" this house." She did air quotes when she said haunts, her smile turning into a grin. "So you were dared, huh?" she said, "How long do you have to stay in here? A couple hours? All night?" She crossed her arms over her stomach again, waiting for an answer.

Basou looked at her and nodded. "I see...well the house is nice, just very dark and dusty; but still a nice house." he said as he looked around. "Oh...yeah my friend dared me and another friend to enter...but the other is too young and got scared...so I came here alone." he explained. "I have to stay here all night...can't leave till morning." he added as he looked at her.

Aranche nodded. "I see," she said, "So, your friends... they're centaurs as well, no?" She tilted her head to the side slightly, then looked around. "Yeah... I know it's dusty..." she said, "I've been meaning to clean it up a bit, but then it wouldn't look haunted and all."

Basou nodded. "Of course they are...why wouldn't they be...I don't talk to anyone else..only them.." he said and yawned. "Ah, good point...I don't mind the dust though...it's fine...and if it doesn't bother you then there really is no point in cleaning now...is there?" he asked and shrugged.

"You're talking to me right now, though," Arachne said with a playful, happy grin. She looked around for a couple more brief moments, then looked back at Basou. "It's true that it doesn't bother me," she said, "But I wouldn't mind having a clean house. I just keep it like this because of the haunted house rumor."
