So I'm taking an Honors English class this quarter, and we were assigned Candide to read (by Voltaire). I've never read it before, as I've never been much into literature of the Enlightenment era altogether, but I must say I'm enjoying it. It's probably the craziest and funniest book I've read any a long time, and it does an excellent job of satiring European culture of the time. Has anyone read it? What were your thoughts?

I read it for fun when I was in 8th grade, then again in high school, and then it was on the booklist for my required Humanities class at college.

My absolute favorite part of the book is that it never took itself too seriously. It instead was the complete opposite and was impossible to take seriously. :)
