"I will see you." He grins as they walk out of the store. He slips into the car when Terrance opens the door for him. He was happy that Terrance had bought the silver kilt. He knew it would bring out his eyes. He wondered if Terrance was going to wear it tonight. He goes to get cleaned up for the dinner.

Terrance decided to wear the kilt another time, maybe on St. Patrick's day or on his birthday. He just finished smoothing his hair back and was now ready to jell it up. He took out the hair jell and started putting it on his hair. He brushed it back after working it into his hair. That's when his hair shined. He was thinking of putting on some cologne on, but remembered the last time he did that. He sighed and remembered that he some people that were allergic to it. So he finished putting on his tie, vest, and jacket after he tied his dress shoes of course.

Terrance popped a breath mint in his mouth and went down stairs. He was all ready to go. Now he was just waiting for Kirin to get ready. He had his glasses with him just in case.

Kirin comes downstairs. His long hair up in an elegant up do. He is slightly disappointed that Terrance isn't wearing the kilt. "I'm ready." He says with a smile. "You look very handsome." ( http://0.tqn.com/d/beauty/1/0/2/F/1/...kki-taylor.jpg is the up do)

"Maybe next time I'll wear the kilt," Terrance said as he smiled, "I was just in a purple mood."

Terrance thanked Kirin and then said, "You look lovely as well."

He kissed Kirin and then grabbed the car keys. He opened the door and they headed towards the limo that was sent to get them. Terrance really wanted to drive there, but they sent a limo for them instead. Terrance let Kirin into the limo first and then he got in. As the door closed, he stretched out his legs and relaxed.

"Well the purple does match my outfit." Kirin says smiling. He blushes at Terrance's compliment. "Thanks." He mumbles returning the kiss. His eyes go wide at the sight of the limo. He had never been in one. Usually when they went places Terrance drove. He slips into the limo. He curls up against Terrance.

Terrance found a can of Sprite Zero and drank some on the way to the State Dinner. He asked Kirin if he wanted anything. There was Coca-Cola, Sprite, and other canned soft drinks in the cooler in the limo. Terrance put his arm around Kirin and smiles. He took out his smartphone and read a few text messages while on the way to the dinner.

When the limo got there, the driver opened the door and they stepped out of the limo. Terrance smoothed back his hair and smiled. They wondered who Kirin was. A random tabloid person asked Congressman Pace if that was his new girlfriend. Terrance just gave that person smile.

Kirin just takes a bottle of water and sips on it. This is the first event he's gone to with Terrance and he's afraid of messing up.

He gets gracefully out of the limo when the arrive and just takes it all in. Kirin blushes when he hears the tabloid report ask if he was Terrance's girlfriend. He had to admit, if only to himself, that it was annoying being so feminine looking and being a guy. Though he didn't mind it all that much.

The two of them head inside. "Terrance!" Congresswoman Rita Skinner had spotted Terrance and Kirin. She is five foot three with bright red hair and sparkling green eyes. She is from a district in southern Florida.

"Hello Rita," Terrance said as he spotted her and went over to say hello to her, "Kirin, this is Congresswoman Rita Skinner from one of the districts in South Florida. Rita this is Kirin, my partner."

Terrance greeted Rita with a handshake and hug. Then he asked how she was going and how has things been. Congressmen Baer was there too, although he was busy yapping to the media about his stance on another bill. He was kind of avoiding the Mutant Registration Act. His press secretary was advising him to stay quiet tonight, and not say anything that could cause him reelection.

"Kirin you look ravishing." Rita says giving Kirin a hug after giving Terrance a hug.

Kirin smiles and blushing. "It's nice to meet you Ms. Skinner."

"Oh please call me Rita." She says with a grin. "How have you been Terrance?"

"I'm doing well," Terrance replied as he smiled, "just dealing with calls from my district and then protesters at my front door. At least they weren't there to cause trouble."

Congressman Baer saw Terrance and what he thought was a woman. He sighed with relief that he didn't have to lecture Terrance about the rumours he heard from the tabloids for months now.

"How are you doing, Rita? Are you up for reelection?" Terrance asked as he couldn't keep track with all his congressional colleagues that were up for reelection, "I don't know if it's you or the other district next door to you that is up for reelection."

"The other district." She says with a smile. "So you have been having trouble with protesters? I am sorry to hear that." She says.

Kirin just stands there feeling a bit out of his depth.

"Well it wasn't all that bad, it was just about the Mutant Registration Act." Terrance said as he noticed Congressman Baer making his way over to them, "Well why don't we find our table."

Terrance checked his invite to see what table they were going to sit at. Then he started to feel tense as Congressman Baer started coming closer. Congressman Baer walked right up to Terrance and said, "Hey there, Pace... it's good to see the rumours aren't true."

"What rumours, Congressman Baer?" Terrance asked as he wasn't too sure what Baer was talking about.

Terrance hoped it wasn't the one Liz-Rye was attempting to spread, because then he would be more nervous then ever.

"You know, Pace... The ones in the tabloids," Congressman Baer said in a jokingly like matter, "I knew you weren't that way, I mean... You're one of us fellows, not a lady after all."

Terrance felt kind of at unease and insulted at the same time. When he heard Baer laugh at the end of his sentence, that made him even more irritated. He couldn't believe how backwards Baer was and Baer was from the west coast. He wondered how he ever got voted in. Baer was old, rich, and had secrets of his own. Terrance felt Baer's ignorance and hatred stabbing him in the heart emotionally. He then decided to take a quick peak inside Baer's mind, and he quickly got out of Baer's mind. He wondered how such a person can run for office.

"You know you just need to get over yourself." Rita says to Congressman Baer. She is glad she is sitting with Terrance and Kirin.

Kirin just stands close to Terrance not saying a word.

Congressman Baer laughed and he thought Terrance would laugh along with him. Terrance didn't though and just gave have a blank glare. He didn't like Baer's arrogant attitude towards women or people that aren't like him.

"Pace, tell her I meant no harm," Congressman Baer said as he was laughing nervously.

"You better vote against that bill, or you might not be reelected," Terrance said in a serious tone, "I know the people in your district is ready to overthrow you literally."

Congressman Baer was shock to hear what Terrance had said to him and wondered why he said it.

"How do you know that they're going to overthrow me?" Congressman Baer said nervously, "I know you were for the bill, I'll vote against it if you're going too, old buddy-old pal..."

"I never truly picked a side, but since you brought it up," Terrance said as he readjusted his Rolex, "I'm actually against it, since it's what the people want. Also it makes a lot of sense if you come to think about it."

"I'll vote with you then, anything to keep the liberal media from going after me..." Congressman Baer said as he soon disappeared right before the media was approaching toward Terrance.

The news reporter from CNN was going to ask Terrance about his stance on the bill, and if he was still undecided.

"So you really are against the bill? I'm glad to hear that." Rita says with a smile. She had a secret that nobody else knew. She herself wasn't a mutant but her twin brother was. She had been horrified when the Mutant Registration Act had come up. She was so glad that it seemed it wouldn't pass.

Kirin just stands near Terrance. He's not sure what to do. He feels so out of place.

"Yeah, after all we're all people at the end of the day..." Terrance said as his southern accent got a bit stronger.

When Terrance's accent gets a bit stronger, that usually means he is either nervous or isn't being completely honest. Then he looked over at Kirin and noticed he was kind of bored. He sensed that his partner felt out of place here. So he asked him, "Kirin, want to meet some of my other colleagues? No one here will bite. Maybe Baer if he is in a bad mood or uh... well I'll let you decide about the other one. Or we could just go to our table."

Terrance wasn't too sure what Kirin was going to say, but he wondered if he was at least enjoying the time they were spending together at the State dinner.

"Either is fine." He says smiling at Terrance. He leans up and kisses his cheek.

"Oh you two are just so cute together." Rita say smiling.

Terrance smiled and returned the kiss. "We'll head to our table then, before the news reporter heads our way," Terrance said as he noticed the news reporter was a well known one that he was kind of leery of.

Terrance walked over to their table and sat down. He looked at his Rolex to check the time and then silenced his smartphone that way it wouldn't go off during the dinner. Terrance showed Kirin what they will be having for dinner at the State dinner. Terrance didn't mind the menu, although the dessert he wasn't too sure of.

Meanwhile a blogger from a well known political blog was there. Not eating at the dinner, but covering it and was able to get a press pass. She wondered if Terrance would notice her or remember who she was. She just stayed in the press area and blogged as she saw things happened.

Rita is at the table with them.

"Terrance...." He chews his bottom lip.

"What's the matter?" Terrance said softly to Kirin wondering what could be the matter, "if you mean that tall guy over there, that's just the vice president. He isn't that bad as the media portrays him to be. Although he does say some crazy things at times."

Terrance wondered what could be making Kirin nervous, he only knew that his partner was nervous and nothing else. He didn't want to peak into his mind to see what it could be. He made a promise long ago that he wouldn't invade his partner's mind like that without permission. Could it be the blogger?

The blogger wasn't there to cause any trouble, she was just doing what she always does at political event and that was to blog about them. Her job with the grassroots organization doesn't pay enough, so she blogs and does other things to make ends meet. She knew Pace and Kirin was there, although she had no business with them at least not at this time.

"What if I make a mistake a..." He searches for the word.

"Faux pa?" Rita asks.

"Yeah. I've never been at such a fancy event. I don't want to reflect badly on you."

Terrance blinked and was thinking about what to say. He knew that Kirin had reasons to be concern, hence why he was going to prep Kirin for the state dinners before just "dragging" him along to this one.

"You'll be all right," Terrance said as he smiled, "Just avoid the news media and bloggers. No matter how nice they are to you. Some of them aren't only fishing for information, some are fishing for black mail."

The female blogger was listening in on random tables, but all their conversations were boring to her. So she just stuck to blogging about the event. "Well, good thing I never had to use any of the blackmail information yet," The blogger thought to herself.

Terrance turned around and saw the press section. He then noticed the blogger and she seem vaguely familiar to him. Although she looked more professionally dressed and her hair was jelled back.

"Alright." Kirin says with a smile.

"You'll do o.k. kiddo." Rita says.

"I almost told that congressman that I wasn't a woman." he says.

"You mean Congressman Baer? You should have, it would have put him in his place."

(oh have an idea)

Congressman Baer walks into the restroom and does what he has to do. Then after doing his business, he washes his hands. While washing his hands, he notices the woman that was with Terrance. He wonders what "she" is doing in the mens restroom.

"Uh... This is the men's room," Congressman Baer said and then realized that 'she' maybe a 'he'.

That is when he started to freak out. "So he is a lady then! That Terrance, I knew something was off about him," Congressman Baer thought to himself, "He sure fooled me... that..."

Congressman Baer mumbled somethings as he finished drying his hands. Then he smoothed back his hair and headed towards the door.

Kirin walks into the bathroom seeing the congressman. "I know." He says when it's pointed out that this is the men's bathroom. He quickly finishes his business hoping to get to Terrance before Congressman Baer does. He heads back towards his tabel.
