Is there no rest break for your master?

There is no break for my Masters. It'll be nonstop classes for two years D: Good news is, at the end of the class I'm taking right now, I'll be 1/3 of the way through!

I don't think so XD But I am doing this all online in a distance learning program - that way I can still work full time. So that might be why D:

It all depends on what I'm making. With simple things I wind up using 5 shades. With certain complex clothes (and other items) I have gone from 7 to 9 to 12 shades. It's never a constant factor.

haha exactly - it's not set in stone. But huge things like the crystals I did for PJ NEEDED more than 6 shades!

Well... that would be amazing to see how you use 6 shades in an item only have 4 pixels. *evil giggle*

I like everything to set in stone. So it is consistent.

Xuvvie - lol - I've been pretty resistant to changing to more than 6 shades - but I just see how helpful it is in some cases! I also have been using shade 5 IN the clothing - not just for the outlines XDD

That is fine, I have attempted 4 shades in one shirt before.
I just feel that, it could be done. *shruggs*

and that depends on where the shade 5 is. Actually, in a colour, other than the lightest and darkest shade, all the middle shades are blending shades. It depends on your surface material and the existing palette. my simple one sentence guidance of reserve shade 5 and 6 for outline is just simple to say and understood. In more advance, blending should happen with the middle shade.

I am a person that like to have 'rulez'? Not sure maybe it means what I meant. :/
For something like pixel, I love the option of recolour easily and tidily, I regard it as one of the perks. So in proper response, a standard should be establish.
and yes, I am talking about my always on thin air dressing up doll project. x.x

haha - it took me a while to use shade five as an actual shade and not just on the outline - Jelly kept trying to get me to use it XDDD

having only 6 DOES help with the recolors - I will definitely say that! Sometimes, with me, I'm like 'OMG....what shade am I on?" XD When I recolor I always go dark to light and go "6, 6, 6, 6, then 5, 5, 5, 5, etc" with every shade until it's done or I get lost XD

I would assume you would slowly play around and learn how to blend all shades when you work close with other pixelist.

I go medium, dark than light. XD Most of the time. But I have also try from darkest to lightest, and lightest to darkest, just for the sake of experimenting. Fun. I think the result would be slightly different but not noticeable.

...Do you REALLY have to finish one shade only start the other?
You don't do minor tweaking? O__O
That sounds more systematic than I am. O__O

haha yeah - I'm picking up a lot from Demo and Wishie :)

haha - it's basically how I go - one shade to the next. But I do make subtle changes throughout. It's just easier to teach someone to add it step by step rather than say, "Now go add all the shading" "No wait, take that back and redo that etc" XD

Well...from Jelly it's been "USE SHADE 5 FOR COLORS" XDD

From Demo it's been, "Don't use so much dither!" and "You can use more than 6 shades!"

From wishie it's been a lot of learning by looking at the things she does...no a lot of dither...you don't have to go crazy with shading to make things look good...sometimes minimal is better...be aware of the shapes etc :D

If using different amount of shades, doesn't that means there will be missing shades in recolour in another colour?
Observation is a good learning step.

Ah, no. When I recolor, all the recolor palettes have more shades then as well.

yep, which mean, more work to add more shades.
If the standard is changing, it could be hard to match colours with different items. *shrugs*

From what I see now, menewsha adding or changing shades, minor tweak the whole colour scheme and another 6 shades emerges! It goes against my OCD~
Sometimes, I am not sure whether it is good to have so MANY colours. :/(colours, not shades. XD)

I think people would complain if we didn't have a lot of colors though - they'd get bored with the same colors over and over.

We've also been introducing newer palettes like the Mina Pink, Rouge, Petrol, Merlot, bright purple, etc. XD

lol. I only remember people complaining about no items or colours are hard to match. Especially for certain old colours that doesn't seem to match well with the new items.

I like the name Merlot.

THe thing that people don't realize...is when we introduce a new color...it's introduced slowly because there are only a certain number of items that are released each event. We can go back and recolor everything in the new color. So it's something that takes a bit of time. But we ARE working on getting some of the older colors get new items and some of the new color palettes with more items as well. For this summer event I used a few palettes that I know are popular and people love to use, a couple newer palettes that need more items, and an older one that doesn't have a lot of items in the color. So hopefully that'll give everything something to be happy about! XD

In addition - the colors for the sets need to make sense in relation to the items themselves. I can taking the steam punk stuff I did for Phoenix Jubilee and make them all pastels...it wouldn't make sense.

Good to hear about that.
Some old and rare CI have quirky palette that is real hard to match. I mean, look, people quest for the quirky coloured item painstakingly, and then find out that it is hard to match. I would be piss off.

The way that colours are introduced in a set, it just seem that they are better off with their set instead of other items that colours are most probably not match. Kinda against the creativity of mix-matching. Though, I am fine with items stay with the set.

For me, I am contend with just a few colours, and prefer to have ALL items have all those colours, rather than having different items with different colours. x.x Maybe it is just me, seeing that I seldom buy commons, but, my recent Event items stash, I didn't use them a lot. Because I don't have enough to match them with, in terms of colours.

You are certainly right about the steampunk, but I am not talking about that. I am talking about general coat, swimsuit, shorts, pants, jackets... those things. For example, the estella... the white doesn't match my other white... *sighs*
