I just bought a pair of Basic Sapphire Jeans (a) and have been unable to equip the.
They show up fine in the shops preview but now i can not equip them.

You're using Chrome, aren't you :) Chrome tends to need some mouse button mashing to get items to equip, for reasons best known to itself!
