Hubby finally just skyped me. He had no idea that there was ever even a bomb threat, lol. I feel a lot better now. He's currently packing so that he can just roll out of bed tomorrow morning to catch a taxi to the airport. I told him I'd be really mad if he missed his plane, not because it would take longer to get to the US, but because it would take longer to make the final leg (our airport is very very small and has a very limited number of flights to only a few cities--he'd probably be delayed at least overnight if he missed any of his flights).

Now, housework! I just took out the recycling but I need to do dishes and be ready for brownie-baking tomorrow. I also need to brush boycat because he is shedding like crazy, and then vacuum up all the fur he already left in the carpet. And then maybe do laundry and finish unpacking (I still have stuff in boxes and I've been here almost 6 months!). We'll see how far I get xD

I'll keep checking in though, cuz you all are awesome and have helped keep me occupied in hubby's absence.

Glad your hubby is well too. :)

Arg...I still have to do housework. That was my goal for today but stupid stuff prevented me from doing it so I guess I'll have to try doing it tomorrow.

I've been moved for almost 3 years and still have stuff in boxes. I just have no storage so I've been using the boxes as storage.

Thanks. It's supposed to have the purple harem skirt, a teal skirt, and a few other things but I'm too lazy to transfer gold from my mule. XD

Everyone is talking about a grape shortage because of our drought, which is supposed to jack up wine prices... growing season hasn't even started >_>

Lol, I haven't been here long, about six months or so, but at this point hubby and I expect it to be permanent, because I love the area and he loves his job.

We're on the Central Coast, about equally far from LA and SF. It's about 4 hours to get to either one. The weather is pretty gorgeous most of the time, but during colder months like now we get periodic rain. It's not very heavy rain though, and lightning is rare because of the mountains. The beaches here are pretty cold, they're not like Florida. It's about 65 during the day year-round. We're not right on the beach though, so we can get as hot as 80 during late summer, and apparently it gets to 90 for about a week in late August.

Strange bits about moving from the Midwest are the thickness of the fog in the morning and the lack of tornado sirens and thunderstorms. There's also no lightning bugs here, and our house has no gutters because it doesn't rain enough to need them. Also, there's a ton of snails. SO MANY SNAILS. I have killed so many

And I love the birds here! We have quails and hummingbirds! So pretty! *_*

My favorite bit has to be a tie between the terrain and the weather. We go on a hiking trail that takes us around a mountain and straight down to one of the beaches. It's pretty awesome.

There's also a lot of natural foods here, because there's about as many hippy-types as you would expect  It's nice to finally get the food I like for a decent price. And there's produce in season year-round because the weather is so mild. When I drove in during November, we passed a corn field that hadn't been harvested yet and it blew my mind. xD

Oh my! It sounds so pretty! =3 I wanna go to America! I was planning on doing Route 66 in an RV then I realised that I as 11 at the time and I have no money.... so yeah but I will visit America in my life! I have lot's of American friends though so I'm half way there! ;) and you have no gutters on your house! :O that's a first! It's a shame that's it's not as warm as you hoped I thought it would be like 60 in the winter then about 90-100 in the summer! Question! Why are there so many Snails? and Why have you killed so many! My mum loves birds! She has a bird app on her iPhone. That hiking thing sounds awsome the closest thing to a mountain is the rubbish dump on the other side or town... oh well! My town's messed up! :P

I have no idea why there's so many snails. I don't kill them intentionally, but when it's dark out (I don't live in a neighborhood, our house is on a road with a lot of horse ranches and wineries) I can't see them and I step on them and they make SUCH AN AWFUL CRUNCH SOUND :gonk:

No, the temperature doesn't really change that drastically because the ocean basically acts like a big heat sink and keeps it from being hot here. The current runs from north to south so it's still pretty cold when it gets to us (where on the East coast the current runs south to north, which is why Florida can get so hot).

The good thing though is that it rarely gets very cold either. We have a couple of months were it gets below freezing at night but never cold enough to snow. Just cold enough to scar my cactus :C

I have a couple. There's a big tall one that lives in the backyard. There's a baby one growing in the back too but I need to check up on it. I haven't seen it since the moles started tearing through again. I also have one indoor cactus. I picked one with a lot of really pointy spines specifically so my cats would leave it alone. The tall one outside doesn't have many spines.

Yay! The moles didn't uproot the baby cactus! (yet :ninja:)

HERE IS MY CACTUS FAMILY.

This is Conan O'Cactus. It's a Red-Headed Irishman. He has male pattern baldness from his last container. The cats liked to knock him over onto the floor so a bunch of needles have come off, which I have cleverly masked with the window light. He has a ghetto lean, which I am trying to correct.

This is the baby cactus. I'm debating whether or not to get a pot and scoop it up to bring inside. So cute >3>

This is Tall Boy. It's all one plant. The white patches are the scarring from when it freezes in the winter. It's still growing though!
