Kaladin grinned briefly. "I'll smuggle some back for you next time I go with Hazel," he said. "Because I doubt you really want to go on a finding mission." He paused for a few moments. "Although depending on how finicky Brit's family gets, and how much she listens to them, you may have to."

"I'm not you, Kal." Seamus rolled his eyes, but it was an uneasy motion. He didn't particularly want to go on a finding mission, but if he had to for Brit... Well, that was something else entirely.

Kal noticed, of course, since no one knew his baby brother better than he did. "It likely won't be a problem," he said with a shrug, as if he were just thinking about it and not reassuring his brother, petting the little black sheep. "I mean, she didn't look real happy, so I doubt she'll want to keep her ties with her family, and they can't really demand anything of her, so I'm sure you'll be fine."

"I hope so," Seamus replied. "Knowing my luck, I'd go and not come back with all my bits and pieces attached." A slight exaggeration, but still.

"Yes you would. Because I'd make damn sure you did." And Kaladin wasn't kidding about that. He'd hate to leave Hazel again, but to keep his little brother safe, he'd go away again.

"Oh no, you'd be staying here," Seamus replied. "You've got better things to do than follow me around, and I will not be responsible for taking you away from your lady again." Kaladin hadn't been there to see what his absence had done to Hazel, but Seamus had. And he wasn't going to let that happen again.

"Regardless, the point is moot, since you likely won't have to go." Kaladin gave him a Look, effectively ending that argument.

Seamus returned the Look, but didn't argue further. He knew when it was a lost cause. Instead, he turned his attention back to the sheep. There were more colors being born every day, although by now only a few of the sheep had yet to drop lambs.

"Before I forget, when is Hazel's pet due to give us a litter?"

"Another week or two. I felt at least four, but there are probably more." Kaladin shrugged. "And we probably won't get to see them until the kittens are old enough to move on their own. That nekomata barely tolerates me."

"They're like that," Seamus replied, waving it off. "Ask Hazel to look at them, then. Tell her what to look for and everything. The nekomata is hers, after all."

Kaladin snorted. "I'll tell her, but I doubt she'll like it." He shrugged. "Maybe she'll make the thing behave long enough for me to get a good look."

"Worth a shot," Seamus replied. He grinned. "Or, if all else fails, we have leather gloves so the little monster doesn't tear up your hands."

"Ha. I think I'd need a leather long-sleeved shirt to keep me safe from that little monster." Kaladin rolled his eyes.

Seamus snorted.

"No kidding," he replied, grinning. "Not that it would help against your big monster over yonder." He tilted his head to gesture to the two-tailed tiger.

"Yeah, but that one I don't have to worry about kittens with." And Kaladin thanked his lucky stars for that. "He is very definitely male."

"Lucky for us," Seamus echoed his brother's thoughts. "Hopefully some poor sod won't come back from a finding trip with a female."

"Even that wouldn't be so bad. Then we can just stud this guy out and that'll be the end of it. Unless we get some of the kittens. Which might be disastrous."

"Never know, Hazel might want to keep a cub or two if we end up using him for stud," Seamus said, grinning. "Which would make it your problem, since the monster only tolerates you."

"At least he tolerates someone." Kaladin rolled his eyes. "Oh well. One or two cubs I can deal with. You, on the other hand, seem to have to deal with the whole herd of pygmies."

"No kidding," Seamus replied. "I think the things just aren't smart enough to be anything but blissfully happy." He gestured to the lilac lamb that was staring up at them adoringly. "Case and point."

Kaladin snickered. "Yeah, they look pretty happy all the time. Although that's not a bad thing. It's better than them being temperamental and bitchy."

"This is true," Seamus conceded. "They could easily be like the gryphons, and that would just be bad."

"Very bad. Although probably less dangerous." Kaladin couldn't help but snicker. "Somehow I doubt they could really do a lot of damage."

Seamus snorted.

"Yeah, really," he replied, grinning. "'Oh no, they're shedding rainbow fluff on us!'" he imitated, pitching his voice higher.

Kaladin laughed. "Well, that one is." He nodded to the little orange one, who was currently using Seamus's leg as a rubbing post, and was shedding on him.
